This song played on the radio in the USA all the time - it reached #9 on the Billboard chart that year. Most people in the USA didn't understand the words, but it didn't matter. The melody and the voices were just so beautiful. When I was a little kid, I tried to sing along, imitating the sounds as best I could for someone who knew no Spanish. I love it still to this day.
Interestingly enough, they also recorded an English language version of the song that was the B-side of the second pressing of the single. Some radio stations tried playing that version, but by that time, the original Spanish version had taken root with American listeners and it didn't catch on. I remember hearing the English version on the radio only once and never heard it again in 50 years since...
My grandfather died in 1998, this was his favorite song. They played it at his funeral, I was 9 years old that time. Listen to it now, and it still makes me cry❤️
As for the song we may have different opinion, but TV realisation and TV studio layout and image quality doesn't looks boring despite 50 years have passed.
I grew up listening to this song in Samoa, went overseas and I never heard it again ever but I sing it and think about it that time of my life growing up. I searched for this song and finally found it in 2020 and it has been a feature on all my playlists and it never gets old. Viva Mocedades, Eres Tu...always and forever...malo lava, faafetai
NO GANÓ EL FESTIVAL, PERO COMO YA VIENE SUCEDIENDO EN OTROS CASOS, ES COMO SI HUBIERA GANADO PORQUE MUCHOS LA CANTAN Y LA RECUERDAN. NO SIEMPRE EL GANADOR ES EL QUE TRASCIENDE EN EL TIEMPO.
@@fabianpairet9567 Aquí la tienes. Perdóname la palabrota, pero una reverenda mierda. No se puede comparar. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XtIm4nRWvO4.htmlsi=D6tIs8hU0upBSXRr
Malcolm Dale ~YES!! This 2nd place song by Mocedades was Eres tú which was a "MUCH BETTER SONG" (a 100× times better) by leaps and bounds than the song that finished 1st place in the 1973 Eurovision contest.
I love this beautiful song💗💗 ... Brings back childhood memories in 1973.. sitting in my backard in Southern California, transister radio to my ear...singing my little heart out..💁♀️📻🎶Eres tu🎶 💕 🌴🌴☀️🌼🌻 Thank you Mocedades 😊
I heard that song for the first time 49 years ago watching the Eurovision song contest while i was in boarding school ,i fell in love with it and the lead singer and i still love both today. What a wonderful song and performance. For me it is so nostalgic, love it,love it.
@@anjana3179 as I understand, they released as a single with an English version meant for the US audience, but radio stations started playing the B-side Spanish version and that version really took off and became a big hit.

100% perfect in every aspect. And no one could sing the lead better. Amaya is just one of the best ever. Her range, depth and soul is untouchable. But I don't think she could have better backing vocals either. It's the perfect mixture of male and female voices
When I was a child used to listening this beautiful song and couldn't imagine nowadays to find this video with the singers. What an awesome song from an amazing time, I miss all this... Thanks for providing us such pleasant memories..
this song brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it,... I used to hear this tune when I was young when my mother hummed it... didnt know anything until recently,.... RIP mom
Beautiful song!!! Beautiful singers!!!!! Beautiful voices!!!Cancion linda!!!!Cantantes lindos!!! Voces Lindas!!!!!!!
Ahhh, the summer of 1974! Remember it well. It's been 50 years. A lifetime for many. Big time changes in USA since then. It truly was a different time different era different styles different values different music different people different country. A time never to return again. Glad I lived it like 10's of millions alive then and now.

Vergonzoso!!! Eres tú llegó al número 1. La ganadora, no. Política y vecinismo.
This Grand Prix was the very best of all time. Every song was just great. I was just nine, will never forget it. We bought all the singles we could reach, this of course was pne of the very first. It felt, as if I had furst time in life opened my eyes and saw how besuty it was, if I can tell it right. Some years ago it was sung on an anniversarry, that old performance in clips beamed, and one of the Ladies cried while singing, since ine of the men, which was ger brother, had died some days ago. I always cry when this comes in my mind. It was so so sad, they had been so young and beaming like the sunshine from their inside. I am thankful we had such a wonderful life. How great was it to be a child and listen to songs like this. Many greetings to you all from Berlin in Germany!
Svdhdhddj. Such a gorgeous song. I usually dislike music that deals with love, as it's a WAY over used theme. But my God. Anyone who dislikes this has to be deaf or simply not understand the language. Too beautiful for words ♡ Mocedades forever ♡
I have been listening to this tune since it first came out and I don't understand the language and I don't want to understand it. This song is too beautiful as is and I think if I knew the translation it ruin it for me. To this day, with the exception of the title, I still have not googled the translation and never will.

The best voice in the history of recorded music. I love her very, very much. From the United States
Outstanding!! What a performance of a timeless classic. As other comments below have mentioned I too am moved to tears as well even though I am not fluent enough in Spanish to understand it really doesn’t matter.
I am so glad for RU-vid because iI can find songs from my childhood that most people don't even remember! Take for instance Kenny Rodgers, most think he has always been more country but "somethings Burning" isn't. lol
I quite agree. As an eight year old [As I was then] I loved this song. Great Harmony great lyrics and proper Eurovision with a LIVE orchestra What happened to the group?. Those were the days. From the New Forest GOD BLESS!
