Eurovision 2018 Review: Norway, "That's How You Write a Song", Alexander Rybak 

My friend showed me this video, it really lifts my spirit. :) While other RU-vidrs are following the hate-train, it’s nice to see how this lovely humor-train is still going strong. Love it!

I don't even think Norway's looking to win this year. I just think they're here to have a good time, and I'm cool with that. 🖖😄💕🇩🇰

The reason why it looks like it's made for kids is, and Alexander has said it himself that he made this because he was inspired by all the younger audience of his, that has sent him fan mail and asked him in person about how to write a song....and many other things about his music. And so he got inspired to make this song especially for the younger audience. Love him❤

Interesting overthinking but after seeing so many hate comments, I don't ge the big fuzz about whether this song is more appealing to children or not. When Alexander won in 2009 nobody objected or questioned anything to the fact that fairytales are for children. If so...what? Without any doubt he's very creative and innovative around artistic concepts.

That's How You Write a Song is no Fairytale, but Alexander Rybak is still Alexander Rybak. The bookies are giving him quite a lot chances to win this thing.

Hunny.. it is made for children and its genius. Its the basic steps of how to do anything. You gotto believe it and do it. Not everything should be about love, sex and breakups. I do imagine this song being sung all around in children schools and its amazing. Its simple, catchy and for absolutely everyone.. Children are the future mechanics, graphic designers, and artists. So giving them inspiration already as kids is brilliant.

This song is so infectious and fun! I can't understand the huge hate that this song is getting among snobby Eurovision fans...

Your pronunciation of the names is terrible. You don't even try. You just pronounce them in an English way which is wrong.

I would just like to point out to everyone who's got a problem with the mispronunciation of Rybak's name, that I (a Norwegian) regularly mispronounce My Own name when I speak English. Chill.

I don't agree that it's step 1 but it's true that to make a song you need to like it ("believe in it") and get it stuck in your head so you don't forget it ("sing it all day long"). And step 2 is when you present it to your producer and they say "yeah, it works"

The amount of times you say "Rye-back" is incredibly annoying.... and then you mention doing research online!! Not that much it seems! It is pronounced "Ree-back" - it means fisherman. Put Rybak into translate.

There was a time when Norwegians absolutely hated this guy, because Fairytale was so overplayed. It was EVERYWHERE and it got old real fast.

First time finding this channel and i like what i'm seeing, but at least for this video, i wish you spoke a bit more about the actual song rather than sidetracking (making a top 10 list of what makes the video childish) and focused a bit less on similarities to previous songs.

Couldn't agree more with this analysis. I posted earlier that Rybak's entry this year targeted the wrong demographic. If you want to win the Eurovision, you need to write songs that appeal to 14-25 year olds, not 7-14 year olds. (IMO, that's why Netta's Toy won).

The only problem that Norway has is that the stage in Portugal won't have green screen effects (cartoon instruments for Norway), which is a bit problematic. Can you do Italy, Albania or Cyprus, or all of them since the three countries are represented by Albanians?
