So a lot can change in a year. You can make new friends. You can change up your hairstyle. You can get a new job. Your favourite song contest can be cancelled for the first time in 65 years due to an ongoing global pandemic that reached critical levels within less than six months. You can adopt a pet. You can also change your mind on which Eurovision songs you like the most!! So to reflect my changing music taste (and in a desperate attempt to update my crappy graphics to slightly less crappy graphics), here is my updated Eurovision 2019 top 41. ❤️ Biggest jumps and falls from my old ranking: AUSTRIA +10 ARMENIA +9 CZECHIA +7 SWITZERLAND -9 AZERBAIJAN -8 MALTA -7
There are not many changes, but they are quite interesting. I like "Limits" enough, and "Walking out" is one of my favorite songs this year, so it's really nice to see them higher in the top. And your top 5 has remained unchanged, which is great, since I really like it. My winner of Esc 2019 is Hatari, but I also absolutely love Conan Osiris. You have amazing taste! (";
Thank you!!! Yes, I mostly just wanted to fix my graphics and comments from a year ago but there were a few cute changes. My top ten is mostly the same though! 😊
I actually had him at like 7th before which wasn't so bad, but I was like.... "surely I cannot care so much about a random NQ orchestra ballad that I'd place it top 5" that at that point I'd seen no one else stanning, but actually.... Yes I can 😊
I’ve been watching some of your tops recently, and I’m really enjoying them. Just subscribed! My Top 10: 1) Slovenia 🇸🇮 2) Serbia 🇷🇸 3) Albania 🇦🇱 4) Cyprus 🇨🇾 5) Malta 🇲🇹 6) The Netherlands 🇳🇱 7) Australia 🇦🇺 8) Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 9) France 🇫🇷 10) Greece 🇬🇷
We know you’re extremely tasteful and this top further proves that👑 also congrats on 300 subscribers 🎉🎉🎉 you’re literally gonna pass me in the next few days. Kinda jealous ngl hehe
Your comments are on point (really smiled when I read them on the UK 🙂). Great taste too, I might add. My top 10: 1. Netherlands: yeah I was such a happy and proud Dutchie when this happened. It's a great and intensely emotional song, and I loved his performance. 2. Italy: amazing entry, fantastic singer, so powerful and enigmatic. 3. Norway: I know it's cheesy but exactly my kind of cheese and totally epic. 4. Portugal: glad we agree that this was art and sadly too forward-thinking. 5. Australia: I did not really get this song but that staging really hits. 6. Malta: I love Michela's vocal and the song is very cute. 7. North Macedonia: epic performance 8. Greece, because both song and singer are great, but not everything on that stage worked well. 9. Slovenia: I love that it's so intimate and out of the box. 10. Hungary: not as strong as Origo but still haunting and beautiful.
I really fail to understand why Hatari is even remotely likeable. If there was cancer for your eardrums, those 'life forms' had already given it to me the first time I heard that abomination of a 'song'
hello, i’m horribly sorry for not commenting for so long. it’s just, these take me a lot of time and i feel like i am becoming very repetitive when it comes to taking comments, and a lot of the opinions that you have are the same as mine. i also can’t comment on a lot of songs, but this is technically the year that had got me to start watching eurovision, so let us start! i will only do entries 41-30 today, i’ll try and do the rest before the end of this week. 41. i am honestly very glad that this is your least favourite of that year, or as me and my relatives say in russian, «пик отстоя» (the peak of the things that aren’t worth it/things that really suck), because this song is absolutely horrible. in almost every part of the song there is that one something that can really irritate you, whether it is the annoying melody or one of the performers being off-key. overall, a disastrous mess, and not in a good way. 40. another horrible one, although with a better performer than the forever horrible d-mol. the staging was definitely stolen from you-know-where, and just overall... it’s unpleasant. 39. i honestly never listened to the whole thing, but i can see how irritating it would be just by the chorus. the costumes, and just the performance itself seems like a great big mess. the lyrics and the staging (as i can only see by the chorus) don’t project the meaning well, and overall... if i were watching the semi-finals, i would rather sit in a room alone in silence rather than watch and listen to this and the two entries above. 38. okay, this one is less irritating and at least something i could listen to... if i did not know the english and french languages. the lyrics are absolutely remarkable for forcing you to swallow down giant amounts of unnecessary positivity. worst thing about this is that my relatives (more like “relative”, since i only show eurovision songs to my grandmother) likes this song. the staging looks like an advertisement for children’s furniture, an art exhibition of a somewhat strange painting (possibly fauvism, i can see complementary colours side by side) or the music video that is meant to appeal to younger audiences (i still cannot decide which one fits best). i’m actually thinking of making a version of this song replacing “love” with “hate” and making it overly negative. though, should i keep the last line or not, (“so don’t you ever ever give up love”), i do not know. 37. okay, this one was definitely strange. the instrumental has potential to be the base of a good song, but they definitely ruined it. their emotions that they did on stage were quite a bit questionable, the chorus gets horribly annoying, and this is overall horrible and a bit forgettable, to be honest. 36. this song has some parts in the verses and lyrics that can somehow be part of a good song, but then again, it all goes down in a terrible entry almost every eurovision year. a lot of people expected israel, as a host country, to send in another fun, lively entry, but i guess that did not happen. the emotions were way too over exaggerated to make me feel unpleasant. overall... something i can’t really say much about. 35. “We would not shower you with fountains of points if you were Sweden,” stated the televoters, “even if it was Sweden, it would nevertheless stay a horrible song. You don’t even know how many points it received.” As the Brit kept screaming about its result being based on politics, the televoters say in silence as the jury announced that the United Kingdom were awarded points of only a sad one-digit number, three. (overall, this song was really... i don’t know what to say. the singing was decent, but the song is a bit annoying and really nothing new) 34. it’s very risky sending artists who are already famous to eurovision indeed, and this was no exception. the staging was probably the only unique thing about this song - the rest was just dreary vocals and an increasingly repetitive song. 33. another song i’ve only heard the chorus of. the staging... seems quite terrible for the song, and the chorus seems horribly weak. i know quite a lot of people who expected better from it because of its verses. 32. okay, i... embarrassingly know all the lyrics to this and one time sang it as a joke to my grandmother. it’s honestly quite weird that it is performed in the minor key (that’s the main reason why it sounds rather sad when a singer who can actually sing well performs it), the staging was... okay, i guess? how this got into the final... it’s a bit entertaining, but i seriously don’t know. 31. when i watched the final that day, i managed to watch 17 and a half entries (i normally manage 13, but that day i really wanted to see iceland perform). the half was this song. it’s honestly a generic-sounding pop song that i did not enjoy at all, so i decided to only listen to half of it, then go to sleep. 30. okay, if you ever listened to the radio in cyprus that year, you would hear this song okay at least three times a day, so it got pretty annoying. the staging was okay, it’s quite a bit like “fuego” and honestly really... nothing to me.
hello!!! omg don't worry about it at all! i always appreciate hearing what you have to say even if you've said it before, but deffo don't feel pressure to talk about all the songs if it tires you out!! 41. yeahh i did say in my 2011 video i used to place 'stay' last bc i'm salty it ripped off 'angel' but... well, you were right, nothing is worse than d-mol. 39. the croatian final chorus is a little bit more tolerable than the english one but, yeah, the verses are no better. it's just... not a very good song. 38. haha i deffo think it appeals to certain people who just like anything cheerful, because she placed so well after all, but nah, i really don't enjoy it for all the reasons you mentioned. 37. i used to kind of like the instrumentals like the music box and the chorus background harmonies, but well, what does that matter when the rest of the song is so... bleugh? 36. i imagine they wanted like a big emotional host entry but this one didn't really work imo. zero points from the jury despite his huge voice already speaks volumes, it's a bit of a mess. 35. i feel quite bad for the british artists because they aren't usually bad singers at all, they just have nothing to work with because the songs and stagings are so lifeless and boring. 33. omg yes, it is super super bland if you only hear the live choruses. i actually think the verses are pretty good and the bridge is actually sort of beautiful, so it could've been saved, but the performance really didn't work at all. 32. that's a really cute story, aw :,) i think it's a good guilty pleasure song but it got a biiit too far imo, pretty amusing how it did even better than valentina who is like THE san marino entrant. 30. mood tbh, i think the more i listen to it the less i like it, soooo as long as i listen to it once a year it stays tolerable :)
My Eurovision 2019 top 10: 1-Netherlands 2-Malta 3-France 4-Greece 5-Italy 6-Switzerland 7-Russia 8-North Macedonia 9-Cyprus 10-Moldova (So Underrated in my opinion)
OMG North Macedonia was my favorite before the show and I was sad cuz i knew it wouldn't qualify but then it qualified and won the Jury vote. Best Eurovision Moment for me! On the other hand... Armenia was my second place and the live wasn't the best tbh but still deserved it
I have almost same top like last year. And your and my top 10 is very similar 😮 I had and I have The Netherlands, Norway, Spain and France in top 10. I had last year and I still have Hungary, Iceland, Portugal and Italy in top 5. Mahmood is still my winner ❤️
Stop blaming brexit on the uk, It was Michael rice song to blame sabotaged by a sweedish man, if Jordan clark freeks was their instead of this he would've won it. Also Duncan lawance said about "Uk shoud step up its entry" He right the song was MEDIOCRE!
glad to find someone agrees! i think he's such a talented performer who can convey drama by himself, but the stage productions just look so tacky and excessive.
@@eurovisiongal7007 yeah the songs often are really powerful and full of emotion but the overproduction is taking the attention away from the beautiful songs
That top 3 though 👏👏 I loved arcade at the time and I still think it's a great song but since the contest I've had soldi and other mahmood songs on replay hes just amazing 😥 on another note I didnt pay much attention to Portugal when they did their semi final I must have just overlooked it but then when I went back to it a few months ago after seeing everyone say how it should have made the final I instantly fell in love with it it's just such a different sound and the performance gives me life every time I watch it, it's a shame it was never given the chance to shine in the final I think it would have done really well
So happy to see Portugal that High! Conan Osiris was so underated. Just because his sound look like anything that still exists. He's a legend. I am still sure that his performance had a Bad impact on the success of the entry
Hello, great top! Love reAding your comments and opinions on the songs ❤ This year was my first time watching Eurovision in real time so of course it's very special for me and actually I enjoy every song in their way. (even my last pace, United Kingdom, there isn't anything actually terrible this year) My top 10: #10 🇦🇹 Austria - Limits #9 🇧🇾 Belarus - Like It #8 🇬🇪 Georgia - Sul Tsin Iare #7 🇦🇱 Albania - Ktheju Tokës #6 🇮🇹 Italy - Soldi #5 🇱🇻 Latvia - That Night (I'm so glad that you love this one as well!) #4 🇵🇹 Portugal - Telemóveis #3 🇮🇸 Iceland - Hatrid mun sigra #2 🇦🇺 Australia - Zero Gravity #1 🇸🇮 Slovenia - Sebi
Thank you!! Yes, I also have special waves of nostalgia for certain years and entries that I remember well :) Glad to see more love for That Night and a few other less popular picks
Because they made mistake, they put the song in early years, Portugal needed to save that song for 2050 that how it will acctuwly work, these years the godly performance like this isn't that much appreciated, go check out what song talk about also. Cya.
My top 3 from 2015 to 2020: *2015* 3. Sweden 2. Russia 1. Azerbaijan *2016* 3. Russia 2. Australia 1. Ukraine *2017* 3. Belgium 2. Bulgaria 1. United Kingdom *2018* 3. Austria 2. Cyprus 1. Lithuania *2019* 3. Russia 2. Norway 1. Netherlands *2020* 3. Azerbaijan 2. Bulgaria 1. Norway
eh, at least leonora got her moment. but it does astound me that it not only qualified in tenth place, but was also one of those songs that got a giant boost from being in the final... twelth!!!!!!
2019 was a good year for Eurovision. Many great songs, a bunch of okay ones, and a couple of disasters as well. Anyway, here's my opinion! 41. Germany Definitely one of the most horrible Eurovision songs ever. I usually dislike the sound in girl duos/trios, but this one takes it to the next level with painfully bad vocals (screaming). Most deserved 0 televote points so far. 40. Greece I really don't like her voice and the song is painfully generic. 39. Montenegro Laughably bad. The song is very bad and these people simply cannot work together. I did get a few laughs out of this, so it's not last. 38. Austria So boring. 37. Israel Well, at least this was an improvement over 2018's entry, but that's really not saying much. The song is boring. I'd also like to mention that the Latvian commentator mentioned how Kobi looks like a combination of Borat and Freddie Mercury. So true. 36. Armenia The song itself is nothing special. In fact, I find the chorus to be extremely underwhelming. Top it all off with a bad performance, and I'm not even surprised that this failed to qualify. 35. North Macedonia It's great that they got their best result yet, and Tamara's voice is incredible, but the song is really boring. I prefer her 2008 entry, which is even in my 2008 top 10. 34. Portugal Without a doubt, one of the most interesting entries in Eurovision. Really experimental. I encourage diversity, but I've never been a fan of this one. It's different, and that's really it. 33. Ireland I knew that this song was doomed from the start. I usually like calmer entries, but Ireland did it much better back in 2018. 32. Georgia Interesting entry. The performance was good and Oto's vocals are pretty good. But the song is really not for me. 31. Australia I've never liked opera in Eurovision, so this song is a no no for me. I really liked the performance with the flying and stuff, that was interesting. 30. Croatia His voice is great, and it's an okay balkan ballad, but it's also quite forgettable amongst other entries. 29. Moldova This ballad is a bit generic. It is okay, but it's generic, so Moldova isn't very high on my list. I liked Ukraine's 2011 sand art, so it was cool to see sand art once again in Eurovision! 28. Belgium The main problem of this song is the huge difference between the verses and chorus. If they kept a consistent theme throughout the song, it would have been higher for me. Also, a bit of a weak performance from Eliot. 27. Lithuania I have no other problems for this song other than it's generic. And that's really it. Not a very noticeable song. 26. Latvia I used to like my country's choice more, as it's a calm song with a nice melody. However, the last minute of it is really repetitive. Definitely had room for improvement. We should have sent Laime Pilnīga or Dziļi Violets, I liked those songs a lot! 25. Belarus The verses are good, including the instrumental, but the chorus could have been much better. Once again, a very repetitive song. 24. Slovenia I like the slow pace of the song and the interesting instrumental. The song did give me a feeling that I was listening to it over and over again, though. 23. Poland Ethnic entries is something I usually welcome in Eurovision with open hands. This one is no exception. Their voices can get a bit annoying sometimes, so I can't put it higher. 22. France Good song. The vocals are good, the melody is fine. I really don't have anything else to say. 21. United Kingdom Good song, a bit generic, but still fine for me. How this ended below Germany is beyond me. 20. Malta I have mixed thoughts on this song. On one side, it has nice verses, and the last chorus works really well, but the first and second chorus is something I'm really not a fan of. I liked the performance and staging, that was done really well. 19. Italy Good verses, weaker chorus. That's really it. A solid song. 18. Serbia Good balkan ballad, it was executed much better than Croatia's entry. Nevena really improved from the abomination that was the 2013 entry. 17. Russia The ballad was executed really well, I liked it, but I never considered it top 3 worthy, so it was a bit overrated. 16. Spain Fun song, I really liked the staging and energy. 15. Romania The pace and flow of this song is interesting, it also has a very interesting melody. A surprisingly interesting entry overall. It's a pity it didn't qualify. 14. Sweden Sweden did it again. They sent a perfectly fine song, which is catchy and has a great chorus! 13. Denmark A sweet and charming song. The mix of languages was a great idea and I also loved the big chair. 12. Albania Really great ballad. It has good vocals, a satisfying chorus and overall had a great performance. 11. Finland Okay, yes, Sebastian didn't do the best performance, but I really enjoyed the song. It wasn't as nearly as epic as "Sandstorm," but Darude did well. 10. Cyprus To people that see this as a ripoff of "Fuego" - I can see why are you thinking that. However, I somehow couldn't help but really enjoy this track. I literally don't have other explanations for this, I just like it. 9. Azerbaijan The vocals are definitely interesting and I loved the staging. The song itself is mysterious and has a good chorus. 8. Switzerland So Switzerland created a good pop song perfect for Eurovision. Good for them, I especially liked the energy. 7. Estonia I am surprised that I like this so much. I guess it's because I really enjoyed the staging and performance, and also, the song has a good melody and it has a great and catchy chorus. 6. The Netherlands Really worthy winner. It was such a relief that I could stand up and clap with the TV audience that night instead of feeling disappointed and angry, what I felt a year prior. Awesome song, The Netherlands had a well deserved win. 5. Norway I love these types of nordic songs. So fun, so catchy, this would have been an another worthy winner. I can understand how this one won the televote. 4. Czech Republic Damn, such a fun song. Lake Malawi clearly had a blast on Eurovision stage, I love the lyrics, the song structure is awesome and, of course, the chorus is great as well! 3. San Marino Amazing, fun entry, which has no other purpose other than to entertain and be a fun song! Love Serhat's energy and the colourful visuals were much appreciated! This one got a vote from me in the final! 2. Hungary Criminally underrated. Joci Papai gave us a heartfelt performance with a nice melody and chorus. Would have voted for this one if it reached the final. So sad. 1. Iceland Epic. Impressive. Stunning. These three words are only a tiny portion of my feelings when I saw this live in the grand final. This song doesn't fail in any aspect whatsoever. The performance and staging is not only visually amazing, but the vocals are spot on and I love the fusion of electronic music and metal. This song was so good that it is actually one of the two Eurovision songs that have earned a place in my Spotify playlist (the other one is 1976's Save Your Kisses For Me). I voted for this 4 times in the final and it got a deserving top 10 placement. Fantastic entry.
