I am probably the only American guy who listened to all Eurovision entries from 1965 on and I concur with many, this entry is definitely one the best and most deserved winners in the contest history.

I remember watching this as a 13 year old, and whenever I hear this song on the German radio nowadays I start to cry, even back then Ralph Siegel wrote a very meaningful song more then ever appropriate for today
First time I heard about the country Germany was when this song (english version) made to number one in UK. Love both german and english version. Well deserved to be an Eurovision Winner. The sole winner of Germany untill now.

My favorite ESC entry ever!!! It's so beautiful. And I'm so glad that Germany won this year with Lena. Before in 1982 they've won it when Germany is still divided into two. Now they've won it as a united country. I don't understand why most people don't want the Germans to win ESC. Is it because of their past reputation? Maybe. Anyway, Ich liebe Deutschland!! :D

@@unabellapalomablanka Jein, it is funny, of course, but, it's a matter of how you actually understand this song, and "peace". I'm not sure Siegel created a masterpiece, yet, the tip of the scale is the "little bit of" - "a little bit of not shooting", does actually make zero sense, hence you do have to find another nuance in this.
Definitely one of the best, if not the best, song to come out of Eurovision. Beautiful melody, orchestration, and song structure. It is a shame it was never a hit here in the US since it was an international smash.

I have been watching all the videos from Eurovision. This song is definitely leaps and bounds above anything from 1982 and pretty much from most other years. A true classic that hands down deserved to win.
There have been many Eurovision winners that didn't deserve it. This is one of the winners that deserved it very much indeed, imo. A nice, instantly catching melody that isn't trying to be anything else. So full of integrity, and a nice performance too.
als Kind sang ich immer bei einer selbst aufgenommen casette mit, eine seite war mit tina turner bespielt, die andere mit nicole und ich konnte JEDES lied mitsingen :) heute hab ich sie auch mal live gesehen und ich muss sagen, es ist nicht mehr unbedingt meine musik, aber sie ist eine beeindruckende kleine frau, mit einer großen stimme und tiefgehenden Botschaften. Vielleicht bleibt der Sieg ja bei nächsten Songcontest bei uns, wenn sich unsere Siegerinnen zusammen tun?! ;-)

i was 11 y.o when this song won the eurovision, and after Nicole had played i said- "I don´t understand what she is saying, but , mother, i think this song is goin to win!"- My mother answered- "I don´t think, i´m sure she will win!" FANTASTIC SONG!
@mrbeanaswell: Dein Deutsch ist wirklich Fantastisch. Und du sagst endlich mal was wahres. Die NS Zeit ist seit 65 Jahre vorbei. Aber es ist fürs Ausland scheinbar leichter uns Deutsche immer dafür zu verurteilen.. Zu Nicole und dem Grand Prix: Der Song hatte damals vieles in sich. Die Art wie er gespielt wurde (selbst gespielte Instrumente/ 1 Kanon und ein toller Text). Ich hoffe echt, dass unsere Lena es für Deutschland schafft den Titel, nach fast 30 Jahren, nach Hause zu bringen...
