English lyrics are: We're not junkies, we haven't done anything The dresses we have on are dumpster-find TV show COPS and a police raid in the cottage The only bag here is full of deposit bottles We're not junkies, we haven't done anything The dresses we have on are dumpster-find TV show COPS and a police raid in the cottage A visit from men in uniform? That's totally ok. UUUUYEEEE Listen to this now We gon' be done getting turnt You can hear us tonight But take this bag away I don't know drugs, I know soda and cider Couldn't tell the difference between vitamins and speed UUUU Listen to this now We gon' be done getting turnt You can hear us tonight But take this bag away Russulas and champignons, where are your threads? You turn on my body like a kitchen stove. Ducklings are so small, but poppies are so tall We avoid intoxicating substances, that's something rich people do Present early in the morning, and crowing like roosters, My candies were taken away by some sad-faced girls Viiriana Vikka Intoxicating substances we avoid cause we're not rich in the backroom of the hut. there are only IPAs on the table And the sunglasses are for eye pupils, well, actually for the laughs obviously You can see right through them if you've made it to the front row Shut up, I haven't done anything I have only been surrounded by this dance Yea Shut up, I haven't seen anything I have only been surrounded by this dance Yea UUUE Listen to this now We gon' be done getting turnt You can hear us tonight But take this bag away I don't know drugs, I know soda and cider Couldn't tell the difference between vitamins and speed UUUU Listen to this now We gon' be done getting turnt You can hear us tonight But take this bag away Russulas and champignons, where are your threads? Even most of Estonians don't know that the dance they are performing is actually an ancient dance/warmup our ancestors (in Estonia) were doing before going hunting.
@@BeersBars the instrument effectively went exctinct when there was religious cleansing. The bald dude playin the talharpa is an ntropologist or something, he made a band based on this instrument to try to revive it bit more.
Love the reaction! Defo hoping these legends win the Eurovision this year, but I’m not too optimistic about the votes. They’re awesome live too, though, so they won’t be the problem for sure! The string sound comes from the Talharpa, by the way. It’s an Estonian instrument dating back to Vicking times. The guys from Puuluup contributed massively in popularising it. Just one of the many reasons why this entry is super dope.
Luup also means single-masted sailboat (in English: sloop). So it could be translated as "wooden sloop". But most likely it's meant to be loop, because they use electronic loopers in their songs (alongside the old wooden instrument talharpa). And puuluup is also a palindrome.
Thank you for the context! Now that I have the complete lyrics you've provided, let's proceed with the translation and analysis. Here's a detailed interpretation: **Introduction and Verse 1**: The song starts with a denial of drug use, setting a humorous and sarcastic tone. The lyrics describe a scene where the only "bag" on the table is a bag of Lay's chips, humorously contrasting typical drug raid imagery with mundane reality. The mention of finding clothes in the trash and being featured in the police chronicles paints a picture of misfits or underdogs. **Pre-Chorus and Chorus**: The chorus plays with the theme of innocence and misunderstanding. The mention of not knowing drugs, but knowing soft drinks and cider, and confusing vitamins with speed, adds layers of irony. The mention of "clouds and mushrooms - where are your threads?" could symbolize a playful ignorance or a deeper commentary on natural versus synthetic pleasures. **Verses 2 and 3**: These verses continue the theme of avoidance of drugs, not due to disinterest but due to economic status ("because we're not rich"). The lyrics also play with visual imagery, like "glasses are pupils," suggesting that perceptions can be misleading or superficial, and only those "in the front row" truly understand the reality. The song cleverly uses humor and irony to discuss serious topics like drug use and societal perceptions. It keeps the tone light and engaging while poking fun at stereotypes and misunderstandings, making it a clever choice for an international audience at Eurovision.
Would be great if you could check the live final performance of this! I'm from the UK and have not been able to stop listening! I think Estonia got done dirty by the judges it was an absolute vibe on the night

5MIINUST have told the song title for them means - We (really) don't know nothing about (these) drugs, whereas for PUULUUP it means - We really don't know nothing about these drugs. Generally they want the song message to keep open because there are many layers how the song can be defined and every listener should decide their way. Song lyrics speak about police raid in their cottage and they don't know nothing about drugs and they haven't done anything wrong, they only drink IPAs (beers) and dance. Only bag they have is for recycling empty beer bottles. They wouldn't make any difference between vitamins and Speed. Drugs are for rich people only, they are poor, hence they even can't afford these if they would want. Dresses they are wearing during the raid have found from dumpster. During the song bridge they start arguing that accusers should shut up because they really haven't done nothing wrong and haven't done any substances, despite the fact it might be seem so (but it's not true). 5MIINUST is most popular party-rap-pop-rnb music group in Estonia. They don't limit themselves with specific genre. This type of melody music and catchy deep beats are their signature. PUULUUP is most popular folk-modern music group in Estonia. They don't like to limit themselves with specific genre as well. 5MIINUST x PUULUUP made whole album together. Song "(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi" was first released single from the album. About group names: 5MIINUST (viis miinust) name is originated from popular basketball game called Viis Miinust in Estonia. Nothing to do with count of the band members, they actually started as 4-member group. PUULUUP - PUU means wood in Estonian, which describes main material of Talharpa (instruments they are using in their music) and word LUUP is coming from English word looper, which they use in their music and on live shows. EDIT: Important note: song wasn't composed specially for Eurovision. The idea came later to participate in Eesti Laul (Estonia Song) competition before the song released. They won Eesti Laul and winner of Eesti Laul will be sent to Eurovision. This was the first time ever 5MIINUST and PUULUUP decided to compete in Eesti Laul. Both groups have nominated and won several Estonia Music Awards (EMA) in previous years. EMA nominees and winners are chosen by jury of musical experts.
When the Hu became widely popular, like 8 years ago, or so. Some people in Estonia commented that The Hu is mongolian Metsatõll. Metsatõll is estonian folk-rock band, popular about 15-20 years ago. So, question is, who (Hu) was inspired by whom? 😅
First of all, good music never goes out of style. Metsatöll did a song called "Viim" with goat's head instruments, like that, clearly visible, true. Mongolian group The Hu, same style of traditional instruments, and throat singing (Wolf Totem). Then there's Heilung. All good.
I'm Estonian.. Estonian language is so difficult that can't eve translate,,so many worlds are goes missing.. only Estonia peoples kno real story...but it most popular song righ now. even kid sing this on kindergarten and schools..😅and this dance is popular too right now.. That's one crazy song..
I see everyone translating the lyrics as "the only bag here is full of deposit bottles" but it's actually "the only bag that's on the table is green Lay's" by the way :) because they got copyright struck by Lay's officially because of the video so they had to "change" the official lyrics but most likely it will still be green lays in estonian, just the translation lyrics will change.
@@DontCallMeJoe. They just cannot promote any companies with their song, so they changed the lyrics as Eurovision asked them to do, same story with Finnish artist Windows95Man, he just blurred the Windows logo from shirt and thats it.
This song is about police accusing them for drugs but they didn't have anything on them. hahahaha. maybe they smoke it before police came hahaha so funny.
The video is recorded in the border town Narva in the Greenholm district. It’s an old linen and wool processing factory. And it’s located exactly across the russian border. You can see russia from there. It’s closed for safety purposes and to keep the historical point. I had the chance to go for a tour there as an estonian and it’s fascinating the factories are bigger than some skyscrapers. If u were to come to estonia thats one place to visit if u have the chance. It has to be arranged of course.
let me check it out wait a sec yes im estonian Edit: Yeah it's good but it most likely won't win because it's too far into rock and metal, I like the song though and I have friends from croatia, sretno brother
I do not know this channles but you not speak with accent so you are not Belgians , but you got like a Delirium elephant there and a Chouffe ... damn good taste you got .
