The Wiwi Jury reviews Slovenia’s Lea Sirk and her Eurovision 2018 entry "Hvala, ne!". Slovenia has missed out qualifying for the past two years, last making an appearance at in the grand final in Vienna. Will Lea be able to take Slovenia back to the final in Lisbon?

Sorry Deban. You dissapointed me. Lea is great. She looks fine, her stage performance is top, prechorus is very good and is part of the chorus actually. With part Hvala ne is actually the end of the chorus. I give her 9,5. She deserves top five in final. She sings well and she sings in her native language, it is original, different from others. She definetly deserves at least the final. For me is she top 5. Love you Lea! 💓💓💓💓

The chorus is my favourite part of the song, it's the closest to a hip-hop song and Eurovision desperatly needs more of this genre which is currently the most popular one in the world. Hvala Ne is definitely the most underrated entry this year, I predict it will surprise a lot of people and actually do great in the competition.

I absolutely looooooove Slovenia this year. It's not even a guilty pleasure for me, but that's how i would describe it. I agree that the drop is not that exciting, but the parts before the drop are sooooooo fricking good. Especially towards the end.

Loving Lea!!! from first listen it grabbed me. My face dropped when the beat did as well because it was so unexpected. I see the cheesiness of it but the fact that she owns it with the finger wags and neck rolls sells the song and performance for me. Furthermore, love that it's fully in Slovenian language!!! Lea said 'see, Europe, you can have a club-pop song that's not in English!' Hopeful for at least a final qualification for Slovenia this year but I'm going to be happy either way when I see this in Lisbon!

The drop goes well with the lyrics, it's like a cold slap, in terms of that it doesn't build up too much. But overall I love Lea and I like the song. She is a performer and the song is modern, unusual, meaningful. Slovenia is just edgy, people should get used to it already. My personal score is 7.5/10. Good luck to Lea

She’s got so much personality and charisma it’s impossible not to like her! The choreography is impress too. An 8.5/10. Slovenia have to qualify this year. I wish Lea this best of luck!

Love this, it's so catchy and unique from Serbia (Not dated!) I really like the song despite the fact that it is generic. Her voice is good too and I've actually grown to like the beat after listening a few times. I agree with Chris here. My rating: 8/10

At first listen, Hvala blasé. But it is a grower now and it is Hvala YEA!!!! When this song comes on, I have to turn up my headphones as high as my ears will tolerate. I agree with William, this is a massive guilty pleasure. Much respect from Texas.

It just comes down to personal preference. I'm not a huge fan of rap, but I like Lea's entry. I know it's going to be really tough to make it to the finals (I heard the second semi-final has a bunch of favourites in it, which makes it tougher), but I'll be rooting for her nonetheless. Btw, I understand that English is your first language and you don't speak Slovene, but your pronunciation of "ne" is so cringe. It's NOT pronounced like "neigh"!!! The E is pronounced close to the E in the English word "end". You can hear her pronounce it in the song. I'd understand it if it was some complicated word, but it's not that hard, it's just ONE letter/sound. Sorry, I don't want to be rude, but it just annoys me.

I really like this song, I doubt it will make the final, especially as it's in semi final 2, with all the serial qualifiers, but I really enjoy listening to it. I'm still looking for an explanation of no LED. There'll certainly be LED spotlights in the lighting rig. they are the mainstay of entertainment lighting these days, and ecologically they are the better option. they use far less power than incandescent or discharge light sources. Does it mean no LED display panels built into the set or the floor, fair enough use projectors instead. Is it an outright ban, or can the more well funded broadcasters bring their own? I wish someone would clarify this.

The song might be a bit simple before and during the drop. But the verses are pretty amazing, her rap is very fluent, she is very fierce and sassy on stage and has a great attitude. Her performance is very great and matches perfect to the song. Maybe she should change her outfit. But the rest is just perfect as is it and should go like this to Eurovision (8/10) I think she could be a dark horse and go to the final. She won't place that high, but she really deserves this surprising semi win

It's hard to turn into into english but my guess would be "Hvalah Nea" there's no "k" sound it's pure "h" just like in "hate". While "ne" is nowhere near English "No" or "Nay" regarding sound. I think English "ea" sound would be the most fitting.

I give it a 7/10! I actually think it's pretty good! I like that it's in Slovenian and I love the pre chorus and I love how she dances with the backing dancers, like she isn't standing in one place! It's in Semi Final 2 and let's be honest that semi is a shit show compared to the first one XD so there's hope for every country in that semi! I think this could qualify

This better than last year, without any doubts. But when it comes to the other 42 songs, people won't remember it, yes, it has flawless dance moves and cool camera cuts, but it will get lost and overshadowed by other entries like Sweden, Russia, Hungary, Poland and Denmark, which leaves less room for the final. I personally like this song, but with a revamp maybe I would like it even better. I give Slovenia a 6.5/10.

For me it's the opposite: I loved this when I first heard this because the drop made me want to dance and the hook stayed in my head for days, but after a few weeks listening to it in full, I found it being repetitive and the keyboard riff in the drop pounding in my head in an annoying way. Good luck to them, though, because many of the entries this year sound a bit middling without a clear sense of direction in a bid to sound "authentic". At least you can dance to this one. Being generous, I'd give it a 5.5 :)

The chorus is catchy and it has a good stage presence, but... There's a big But! Without the staging, without the dance and colors... It just turns flat after a while. Still the best of luck for her at least she isn't a robot without feelings like Sweden last year.

This song kind of makes me get a headache. I want to like it, but I can't. T_T Something is missing, for me. It might qualify, but I wish it would be smoother in some way. Not very fond of the drop, either. You certainly remember it though. 50/50 chance of making it to the final. 4/10.

I really like the lyrics, however the song is definitely not for me at all, so because of that perspective alone it is getting a 3,5/10 by me! Rap is simply not for me, but she looks like a good performer so that score will probably go up towards the main show, but in any case, good luck Slovenia!

This song reminds me of a Madonna song. Unfortunately, that song is 'Bitch, I'm Madonna': a series of unpleasant noises to start with, a chorus that almost immediately has me moving to the next song, and bizarre dancing that leaves me confused as much as anything else. Hard pass.

38th for me. 2/10. I don’t know why but I really don’t like it. The melody and drop just sound really basic. Her voice isn’t too appealing. But the pre-chorus gives it a bit of something. The staging will make or break this, it really could become messy or impactful. Really doubt it will qualify.

This one does not work for me. The song starts out like a standard pop tune which is followed by a decent pre-chorus and a pretty weak drop as a replacement for a chorus. The staging in the live version is very well done indeed, but all in all I am more confused than impressed.
