Today's American Idol pop wannabees could learn an awful lot from Annie. They're wailing away with powerful voices that they don't really know how to best use. Annie knows how to milk a phrase, where to put the intonation, where to use her power, where to whisper. And she sings it like she really MEANS what she's singing, and passionately - not just trying to showcase her voice chops. It's called talent intelligently used! Simply awesome!
'Missionary Man' should have been a much bigger hit than it was. They should have had it as the first (lead) single from their Revenge album (1986). Their actual first single from that album ('When tomorrow comes' should have been their last single from that album. This performance is top draw..... amazingly raw and full of energy.
Esta mujer no necesita un monton de luces, lasers y efectos especiales, es puro talento!! Amo a esta mujer!! canta con el alma y los ovarios!! Que aprendan algunas que la siguen de atras.
Being 15 YO at this concert in the 13th row in this HUGE stadium, the first time I saw Annie L and Eurythmics... I honestly can't say I've seen a better concert since then... And I've been to quite a few since then... Xcellent. All I can say.
My true SOUL SISTER, MENTOR, the VOICE i listen to wherever, whenever... ANNIE LENNOX STILL IS THE SOUND-TRACK OF MY LIFE. As a professional recording artist myself who learned like ANNIE to channel my problem with depression through being a singer, songwriter on my guitar. I wasn't surprised that Joni Mitchell &the Motown Sound influenced ANNIE. OF course i was heavily influenced by Neil Young also. I loved the EURYTHMICS as a my official band. But when i saw ANNIE LENNOX singing "Sweet Dreams," on MTV it was like looking into a mirror! Then when ANNIE went SOLO-WOW!!! She , for me 'til this very day had EVERY RIGHT to Crown HERSELF & most appropriately call her 1st Album- DIVA!!! FOR ME, ANNIE LENNOX IS DIVA OF DIVAS!!! TO me ANNIE LENNOX IS THE PERFECT VOICE. Lets face it, ARETHA did NOT sing with just anyone. Dave Stewart heard my demo & wanted to play lead guitar & showed up at the audition my then manager set up in the East Village. I let everyone down by blowing a J & getting on the wrong train. TRUTH is : i couldn't STAND my manager&didn't want one. Fame was NOT what i was looking for ...things start rolling too QUICKLY & I trusted no one, especially with my music. Music is GOD'S gift to me & I did share it with the world quite literally. But my favorite venue was the NYC SUBWAY PLATFORM, professional recording @ private NYC studios & Apts. i 'm 3 yrs younger than ANNIE LENNOX but i am back. ANNIE LENNOX chisels out each song exquisitely in that classic inimitable way, even when she's doing someone else's song! THE VOICE, THE WAY SHE MOVES, HER TASTE IN STYLE OF STAGE PRESENCE, THOSE STUNNING EYES & I LOOOVE HER HAIR !!! LOOK , ANNIE LENNOX IS THE REAL DEAL AND FOR ME , NOBODY DOES IT BETTER. My world has been rocked & enriched by her essence. AND yet she's quite private. 💖🌹
This rendition of "Why?" just brings me to my fucking knees! Goddamn! If the live version of this song doesn't stir something up deep inside you, I don't know what the fuck to tell you, because I'm drowning in my own fucking tears! Thank you Annie And Dave!
At around 12:45 when they were making the helicopters fly away was after about a 20 minute bout where Annie & CO. just left the stage. I don't blame them... They were entertaining an audience of 2Million once it was aired in USA. God Bless The Queen.
60/70/80's was best for music, no X factor, no Pop idol to accelerate you climb to fame, back then to make it big you payed your dues, playing small clubs and Theatres, learning your craft. I'm not a fan of female singers, but with Annie I make an exception.
what they just did is very difficult. no drum? no back-up singers? no effects? their talent is amazing. when is the last time you saw a music artist play their music this way? This is like two people playing music on a "street-corner." It's music by people --- for --- people.
+Time Machine Toy Show I was front row and backstage I was 18 and got a job setting up paul Allen's viewing booth backstage and I made his secret entrance. MTV house of blues paid me $35hr. and all access passes for the weekend. my good friends dad was the memorial stadiums managers. whay a great memory
Few voices in rock music are comparable to the range and dexterity of Annie Lennox - George Michael, Freddie Mercury and Paul McCartney are among those that have this incredible vocal talent.
Wait - is there footage from the actual helicopter in this too? How bizarre. How did VH1 or whoever recorded this not know that their helicopter would interfere with the concert?
Cuore. Ci sono poche persone rette buone altruista che scendono direttamente in paradiso o questo è già avvenuto.
Your question is from 2+ years ago, but FYI to answer your question: this was from the opening of the Experience Music Project (EMP).I was at this concert, and I’ve been looking for this recording for a while. I remember everyone flipping off the helicopter. There were other performers in the same concert like Beck, and Matchbox 20. I think EMP is called something else now.
