zongshen still makes a copy of the old-old version of honda cub under their brand Ryuka, with model name Classic. it's a bit crappy compared to modern honda wave or whatever like that, but it's the cheapest 110cc you can get, even though like said the frame etc is more sized for original 50cc cub.

ok, genuinely impressed... it has been a while since you posted any ev swapping shenanigans... this is satisfying and you got you both visit with the aging wheels 'i have yet to finish the escape dual motor swap' Robert Aaand you re-purposed and improved upon an old bike... now... shall we start talking about ev swap KITS? pick the three top ICE vehicles sold or on the road... find how to convert, manufacture adapter and supply parts list/suppliers... you only make the adapter [i'm talking about manual transmissions only, of course]

problem with amphours is that the real capacity changes with the voltage. watthours can tell you the real capicity without doing any math. you would probably think that 50ah at 50volts is bigger than 40ah and 100volts

Shenanigans and automotive history. Who could ask for anything more. Cool result. Maybe just needs a luggage rack or “pillion” seat to cover up the wiring. 10+ years ago my kids and I built a Quadra-ped from golf cart type plans, and of course modified it to an “F1” style vehicle. Eventually I added battery assist and it can do about 30 mph. Just never put your feet down at even low speeds or you’ll be dragged under in quite a surprise fashion. More stable than a trike, but more dangerous in other ways. And fun was had by all….

When I was 16, my dad came home with a bright yellow Honda C70 that was about 8 years old. It wasn't particularly well cared for but with some cleaning and a good dose of maintenance, I rode that thing everywhere. Topped out around 50, ran forever on a tank of fuel. Not shure why every color they offered came with that brown and white seat, I'm sure it was Honda saving a buck.

Make a pannier frame, bolt to the bike frame and bolt a top case on it. Stuff that topcase with batteries and hook it up in parallel to the other battery. Instant increase in range.

Cool bike. With such a large battery you think it would get more range but that 1980's frame probably ain't light. Wish you had gone into a bit more detail on the build. The EV videos are your best.

The battery is still only 60V 18.2Ah, so a little over 1kWh. The built itself is extremely simple. QS Hub motor hooked up to a motor controller (in my case a 140 amp Fardriver) and pos+neg to the battery. There's a 12v voltage converter that runs all of the lights, for some reason the ignition relay also runs on 12v (not how I would have done it personally) but all of the "chassis wiring" is semi-inscrutible 18 gauge wire that I haven't untangled because, well, it works, and it's all loomed together really pretty. The gauge itself is just a chinese gauge designed to work with the fardriver. Three wires between the two and away it goes.

I guess in my mind you'd have a smaller battery as a reserve, so when the main battery dies you can switch to reserve to make it home, just like the motorbikes of old.

Yeah. Could have an "on/off/reserve" switch on the side of the bike just like the fuel petcock on a gas bike. Only issue is that a small battery would have smaller ampacity, so you'd have to have a really good idea of how much throttle you can apply to not draw too many amps from it and trip the BMS.
