Bryce Celotto awesome! Hope you enjoy the flight! If you have star alliance gold and you are traveling alone or with a guest, don’t forget to stop by the United club by G98/G100
@TheAircraftKing Thank you, sir 🙏 ,and I hope that you enjoyed your trip to TAIPEI! I will give you a full report on my trip afterwards. GOD BLESS YOU.
Starting at 27:52, everytime I see the windmills (pictured at left) flying into Taipei, it's a wake-up call I'm finally in Taiwan. The windmills are like a bunch of hands waving at me welcoming me. Always a friendly sight ! Nice video !
Note the important thing that the leg rest is ONLY in row 20. A few years ago all the seats in this class had leg rests. Thanks to these RU-vid videos I was aware of this and just returned from LAX to BKK round trip and booked row 20. Had I not known about the no leg rests and bought the ticket, when I got to the plane I would have been furious. Still a great flight. Food was really good. Heck even the China Air food had been good in the past.
That takeoff from LAX was amazing. Woo Hoo!! What camera are you using? I have watched another review from that same seat 20K and hope to someday be in that same seat. Love the meals. Never had congee. Do you already have or do you plan on getting the Gemini 1:200 scale in the registration you flew on B-16707. Awesome report 👍👍
Thanks very much!! One of my favorite takeoffs from LAX of the hundreds of takeoffs I’ve had from there! My camera was nothing special, just an iPhone X S max. People really underestimate the capabilities of an iPhone as a camera. I do not plan to get the Gemini Jets model unfortunately. I’ve got a lot of plane models at home already and I haven’t gotten a new one in a while.
@@TheAircraftKing I got TC-JJT recently and it's just awesome. You can check my videos for the trip lol. I checked your video again and I thought you were on B-16707. Wow the videos are crystal clear esp that landing into Taipei and then coming into the gate with the EVA AIR tails. I sooooo have to get on an EVA AIR jet soon. Will be reviewing your other videos as well.
@@mpaul2012 Eva is one of my favorite airlines definitely worth a ride. Glad you enjoyed and hope you enjoy the others. I Will be sure to give them a watch! Cheers!
Nice video. I've been to Tom Bradley several times. I didn't get what you said about the South entrance for US citizens. All we experienced was, after check in one time we used the entrance to the left as it was nearer the check in counters. Others times we turned right. My last flight was April 2022. I turned right after check in. There are only Business and economy lines for security regardless of citizenship. Maybe the south gate you were saying has a shorter line and for US citizens only. Where is it so I can use that next time. For is always good whichever class you are. Next time I will tell the crew to exchange my meal if it is possible especially the chicken and rice.
Sorry if it wasn’t clear, but in the video I was referring to the south entrance being a TSA pre-check entry point which it still is today and TSA pre-check is only something you can get as a US citizen or a US national therefore the south security checkpoint comment would not apply to anybody who wasn’t a US citizen
@@TheAircraftKing Thanks. My friend uses TSA pre-check, I use the regular Business Class line. It's not bad as long it's not during peak hours. Taoyuan Airport was very easy and quick even without TSA pre-check. I enjoyed the Eva Air lounge than the small Silverkris lounge.
Flight Departure thanks a lot! First video With my new recording camera (iPhone X s Max) so glad it came out nice. And yep the flight was mostly an enjoyable one I would agree.
Ivan Canarecio sorry when I rewatched that I realize I worded it poorly. I just meant to say that what I said wouldn’t apply to the majority of foreign travelers. My cousin is a foreign global entry member so i definitely wasn’t meaning to say that It wasn’t possible. Hope you enjoyed, cheers!
Great video! I just booked seat 20F after watching this video. (Other seats on row 20 were already taken) What did you do with your bag while the plane takes off and lands since there is no front seat to put the bag in? I want to keep my purse and a laptop with me but I was wondering if I should put everything in the overhead bin.
When you sit at a bulkhead seat like a row 20 everything has to go in the overhead bin there cannot be anything by your feed during takeoff and landing so you can just go ahead and put it in the overhead bin and bring whatever you need down once the double chime comes. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed!
EVA is nr. 2 in terms of standard of all Asian carriers behind Singapore Airlines. Maybe some of those product managers from AA or United should book a long haul flight and compere it with their standard.
I would mostly agree with this. Both EVA and Singapore are world class in that regard. Unfortunately I think we can discount UA or AA ever catching up in that regard. But we can always dream 😅
That’s totally fair and for a flight of this length can be annoying. It’s definitely what each person values more, and I’d say in my flights I’ve had the infamous seat kicker but the extra legroom on a flight of this length would’ve made up for it
Lemme just say you were very lucky to board the flight directly from the terminal. In the past 2-3years, i took Eva Air BR11 from LAX-TPE ( the first flight to depart at night). And the plane was always parked at a satellite gate. I had to take the bus and everything...it was a hassle..
A friend of mine who regularly flies EVA lax to/from tpe has told me the exact same thing. I certainly can’t complain, less walking and boarding groups would actually be enforced 😆
I have a flight coming up on EVA early next year in premium economy. Unfortunately from SFO the Boeing 777 is in the newer configuration, so no footrests coming out of the seats. BTW, nice Casio AE1200/Casio Royale. I have several in different colors.
@@TheAircraftKing I have to say the flights were mostly fine, but not great. The 777 in the denser configuration is not ideal. Unfortunately on both Transpacific legs the person in front of me reclined the entire way. The seat on the way back was very uncomfortable. I used the supplied pillow for lumbar support. The temperature of the cabin was too warm. The fold down footrest is pretty useless. The entertainment system was decent. Not the best selection, but not bad. I ended up watching The Man From Uncle three times. Disappointed EVA doesn't have external cameras, and on the way back the USB ports weren't working. The commercials for duty free items were tacky. The leg from SFO to TPE took 14 hours. (45 minute gate delay to push off in SFO plus very strong headwinds). Whatever downsides there were, seeing everyone crammed back in Economy made me realize I was right to upgrade. The weakest aspect of the flights was the catering. I had four legs going from SFO-->TPE-->BKK and back. The food from SFO and from BKK on the return were fine. Nothing spectacular, but fine. However the food for the TPE-->SFO flight was atrocious. The beef and rice dish had mis-cooked rice of all things. The "fresh fruit" was a couple anemic apple and orange slices. (other legs had watermelon, pineapple, and dragon fruit). The "breakfast meal" was a dry overcooked chicken and pasta served with a sweet raspberry gel on the side. Not edible at all. I took a couple bites and left the rest. Apparently the caterer had no idea on how to even meal plan the Western option. The flight staff were mostly great. They were quite efficient. The restrooms were kept very clean. The only downside was when you asked for something not on the cart, for example a cocktail. (I got a Bailey's Irish Cream to go with my ice cream to help me sleep on the redeye flight). They seemed a little surprised I read the menu. I never did get to try EVA's signature cocktail. Then there was the flight attendant who dropped a knife on me. She later dropped a coffee pot, so I got off lucky. The legs between TPE and BKK were much better by comparison. While I was in economy for TPE--> BKK, the 787 was a 3-3-3 configuration and spacious enough for a 4 hour flight. The omelet was standard airline eggs. The Premium Economy cabin from BKK to TPE was only half full. I had no-one in front of or beside me. The fish and rice tasted fine. The fish was a little mushy. A very comfortable 3.5 hour flight. Will I fly EVA again? Not sure. I'm looking to return to southeast Asia in a year, but I am thinking about a Oneworld excursion ticket.
Very nice and informative video. Thank You. I am planning to fly to Vietnam. I don't have a gold card. How do I get the seat like yours ? Should I purchase the ticket directly from Eva or should I go through a travel agent so I can select the seat ? Thank You . Happy traveling.
Bong Sellers thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed the video. So what you can do is that head to the airport as soon as the check in counter opens and try your luck with row 20. Ideally if you are flying out of an out station like LAX, it’s much easier to get those seats since there aren’t too many elites flying and I was able to get it easily. However for the return flight from Taipei to LAX (working on that video right now actually!), all of row 20 were occupied by Eva Diamond members and so my star gold through United wasn’t high enough to get a good window seat. So it definitely depends where you originate but I’d say get to airport as soon as you can and ask the check in counter about that row. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!
@@TheAircraftKing bro. I'm a Gold Star Member too. You can reserve your seating for departure / returning flights for extra $10-40 per ticket on EVA website if you are a member. also can preorder your meals as well.
Stevlyn TV right but what program are you a star gold member from? Also I’m talking complimentary seating not paid. With star alliance gold if there are no more EVA diamonds, you are then given next priority to that bulkhead row which is blocked off unless already taken by those EVA diamond members.
I just bought premium economy from LAX to TPE and your video is helping me not regret it. Are the alcoholic beverages in the menu complimentary or for purchase?
staguar they are all free. You don’t have to pay for any of it. I’m glad it was of help and if you have any star alliance gold status, try and steal that row 20 seat for the best experience. Please let me know if you have any other questions for your flight. Good luck and cheers!
staguar are you sure someone has it? It could just be blocked by the airline. Are you going off the Eva Air website seatmap, or did you check via expertflyer if the seat was actually taken?
staguar if you can’t get status done by then, and by check in time the seats are still open, then please do get to the airport right at 3.5 hours before your flight departure to get the seat if you can.
Nope, it gets quieter as you are in the air being by the engine is quite enjoyable i would say. Quieter than economy but slightly louder than in business
Nice job on the video. Just flew LA to Taipei on EVA in April but on the day flight, also in Premium Economy. Great flight and experience. I did some filming with a Samsung NX1 in 4K on my flights. What camera did you use for your 4K?
@@TheAircraftKing Wow, that is a surprise as I rarely use a cellphone for video. And I agree about the type of image quality that can be had from a cell phone. Living in some good times!
Blasst D yep! All my videos ever taken from an iPhone, and recently some GoPro clips. But as the iPhone camera gets better, so does my filming quality. Glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers!
i flown eva 8 times in this class. Best deal. But lately I saw some videos where the seats were different, they did not have foot rests that reclined. Maybe that was on the airbus premium seats on newer planes? I am ready to book a flight in July but I need to be sure about the seats.
If you are in row 20, then you have a full leg rest for yourself, but the other seats only had foot rests on my aircraft. Though I didn't have the NEW new premium economy product with the orange highlights on the edges of the seats. I had the new-ish premium economy product which is what you see in this video.
gk10002000 nope, but you do get a nice leg rest with an extendable footrest being on the bulkhead seat like you saw in the video and it makes for an awesome “poor mans angled flat seat”
Thanks for the video. I'm going to take EVA premium economy from Bangkok to San Francisco in October. Was this section fullly occupied or some seats still left available?
Duangporn Nupong thanks, hope you enjoyed the video. Most of the seats were full except maybe a couple scattered seats towards the back of the cabin I’d say maybe row 25/26 but the first 5 rows all seats were taken for sure.
Matthew Oh thanks glad you enjoyed it! The flight time given by the captain was 13 hours, 40 minutes though it ended up being 13 hours 57 minutes. Cheers!
ok. I just booked LAX to BKK connecting through Taiwan. Have done this flight 14 times in the past. Been 5 years now I think since I took such a holiday. I booked row 20 the bulkhead row each lef just so I could get the foot rest with the chair. All the previous flights used to have the old seats that all reclined with a foot rest, but now the newer planes have little foot pegs or stirrups on the seat in front to use. No way! Anyway a 3 week holiday in the Land of Smiles. Like to go to Phuket because you can actually swim in clean water at Karon Beach, but being only 3 week trip I will just spend time between pattaya and bangkok, decent hotel pool, lots of german food, foot massages, etc. Will report back on the flight later
China Doll not a dumb question at all, the flight was perfectly fine. Flying out of LAX any night you do have that marine layer just a few hundred feet in the air which causes very minuscule turbulence and you are on your way from there. The flight was smooth all the way to Taipei. There is the occasional mid flight turbulence you could get but just know that’s only a matter of wind flowing in multiple directions and the plane being in the middle of that which causes the shakiness. Its like taking a dice, setting it on a table, and a couple people blowing it from all directions. Sure it moves around a bit but nothing will ever happen to the dice itself. I’ve flown on some tiny planes through massive monsoon storms and even with that turbulence, the plane itself is indestructible and nothing happens. Take this huge 777 and add a little bit of turbulence won’t be anymore shaky than when you start up your car before you drive it. Hope this answered your question and please ask if you have any other questions I’d be glad to help. Cheers!
I was wondering about sleep,I cant do sitting up very well so I usually go business class, but I would sure like to save some money and go premium, you think I could sleep,?does it recline more than economy?thank you
I thought the recline was pretty good for a non-Royal Laurel seat. At 22:31 I have a brief pan over what the bulkhead seat looks like in its most reclined position. I’ll let you be the judge for what you think based on this but it was a nice and comfy enough for me. Definitely better than the non-bulkhead premium economy seats as well
Mark Davis awesome! Hope you enjoy the flight, hope this video was of use, please do let me know if you have any other questions and pls do report back how your flight went. Safe Travels and cheers!
Honestly I wouldn’t want to sit where you are sitting, it’s too empty to me, lol. But I’m fine with first class for some reason..also going to Taiwan in December and I’m taking Eva so I can’t wait!
That's certainly an interesting one. But I understand. The rest of the seats are definitely spacious, but slightly more snug. There's definitely other seats you can sit in! On my return flight, I'm in a non-bulkhead window seat 22K if you wanted to check that out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nW8_rQmJ8IQ.html
How do you go about getting the best premium economy seat like you did? Was it just luck that you got to choose bc it was open or did you have to spend extra to get that?
Du Nguyen I was able to select it at the check in counter. I booked 3 months in advance and at that time the bulkhead row is blocked off to all passengers except EVA diamond members. But at check in counter they open it up for star alliance gold members and at that point I was able to select the seat. It didn’t cost anything extra.
Yep! Here were the plans on this flight: Lite messaging plan: 30 MB- $4.95 Standard Plan: 100 MB- $14.95 Business Plan: 300 MB- $29.95 Hope this helps, please do ask me if you have any other questions!
No unfortunately, premium economy on the 777 is in rows of 2-4-2 with the pair seats being along the window and the 4 set seats being in the middle section
Pui Tayana yep! You can pick most of the seats before travel with EVA. Some seats, like the one I’m in, are reserved for Eva diamond members at booking, and then star alliance gold members at check In time. In premium economy, all other rows are fair game. Though in economy, some seats are reserved for those who paid higher economy fares only.
The one horrible thing about the EVA site is, you only pick the seat after you enter all your personal information. So if you do that and then you find that the flights you wanted do not have the seat(s) you want, you have to start a new search! There is no back button. And what is worse, is you have to then re enter some of your basic information again. If you are a member and sign up, it will populate your name and address and phone, but the next page with "who is traveling" will not populate with your passport information. So can be very tedious to get through the seat selection/flight selection. EVA site has gotten worse over the years.
If you buy the cheapest premium economy tickets (and economy for that matter) EVA has started charging you to select your seat ahead of time. The ticket I just bought cost me $40 to pick my seat from LAX to TPE
amateurranconteur could be maybe? To my knowledge it’s reserved for Eva diamonds and Star Alliance golds which is how I picked it up without issues. But also I believe there weren’t any such passengers on my flight in Premium economy so you may be right.
Owen Holcomb I’m sure it’ll be cleared up by then. I have another trip to Europe that I’m planning this summer to countries where CoronaVirus is still well and alive. I think if one practices general precautions, we can continue with plans.
cstechie hope you get inspiration for the next trip! Sometimes premium economy can be only a hair over economy so definitely look into it. I certainly wouldn't book premium economy if I didn't find the price difference marginal for what more I was getting.
Mr Martin sorry you didn’t enjoy it. A lot of other people wanted to see the royal laurel cabin walk through so I left it in there. Will try to be more concise down the line. Cheers!
The Aircraft King You’re quite right , I certainly enjoy viewing the whole trip ; my last 19 trips to Thailand have been with EVA Air and the last two in Premium Economy , makes the journey an enjoyable part of the holiday.
maninthecab thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. If ever you want to skip around any parts, I made a table of contents with time stamps to any particular parts of the video in the description.
