She had gorgeous solid technique. Many current dancers now seem to be performing a gymnastics with extreme high extensions to impress rather than pure ballet technique .
She was 43 years old here. Sadly missed by many. She could do a sharper style of dancing just as well as the romantic roles she became so famous for, and what a fabulous partner in Laurent Hilaire!
This is so beautiful! Thanks for posting. Wonderful that Laurent Hilaire is now passing on his artistry to the young dancers at POB, as Nureyev passed on to him when he was director.
What a charming man! I know he is idolized by fans of the POB for his incredible dancing but even if he were not that marvelous dancer one would have to love him for his charm which radiates even across time, space and electronic equipment..Not many dancers have this much charisma .. Few today that I can think of.
If you are interested in Laurent Hilaire or other POB dancers I have FB pages to honor them URL for FB pages Mathieu Ganio facebook.com/groups/12578196006/?ref=ts&fref=ts Laurent Hilaire facebook.com/groups/laurenthilaire/?ref=ts&fref=ts Herve Moreau facebook.com/groups/hervemoreau/?ref=ts&fref=ts Aurelie Dupont facebook.com/groups/9944392255/?ref=ts&fref=ts Manuel Legris facebook.com/groups/9914209991/?ref=ts&fref=ts
MOLTO CAPACI.BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO
Magnificos
I never knew that Evdokimova’s feet were so expressive, and so beautiful. The ONE THING I would wish for in her variation, is the one thing almost no Raymonda does - a loud, resounding hand clap every time, that reverberates throughout the auditorium. Doing that would really snap you to attention, and compel you to really appreciate its Hungarian folk-dance flavour.
Plisetskaya does the variation with a great clap and terrific Central European feel to it. People always applaud her Kitri and Odile, but she was also the best Raymonda.
