TCM host Robert Osborne interviews actress Eva Marie Saint before a screening the Alfred Hitchcock thriller North by Northwest (1959) co-starring Cary Grant
This was filmed in 2014. In 2016 her beloved husband, Jeffrey would pass away & in 2017 our dear sweet Robert Osborne would pass away. Such sad, painful losses. RIP ❤
What a beautifully elegant, insightful, sincere, and wise lady. A true privilege to be able to see this interview with the late Robert Osborne, who had the gift of being able to draw in not only audiences but his featured guest.
Wonderful interview of a great actress and obviously great human being. I love that Robert Osborne asked questions about her process of acting. and showed respect and appreciation for her in every way. Eva Marie Saint deserved it. A stellar career in film, theater and television. She managed to balance all of that with a loving family life. Thank you for sharing this video. (and she was 88 years old at the time!)
She is a great example to say no in doing work at our young age , keep working and never whining. look at her in her 90s still healthy , elegant, classy, strong and outstanding
Everyone interested in acting should watch this. Eva Marie is the most honest, brilliant, intelligent actor ever interviewed. OSBORNE , Magnificent. Robert brought out the best.
A few years ago she hosted a Hollywood Bowl evening honoring music from Hitchcock films. Her stories about Hitchcock and the filming of North by Northwest were charming, fun, and very informative.
She could never get over being chosen to be 'a Hitchcock blonde' with the Edith Head dresses, the glamour treatment the whole way. What a treat it was. How smart of Hitch to see the On the Waterfront actress that way
Anyone who wants to hear her interview back in the 1960s with Lucille Ball check out SiriusXM "Let's Talk to Lucy" it's like a time capsule and truly excellent interviews with Eva Saint and other Golden Era legends who are no longer here. Truly the first Podcast show recorded
Eva Marie Saint. You are so much of a treasure- I see you through watching - my whole life- w/ my husband- we always watch ...Waterfront- I wrote a Novel & matching Screenplay! Wish you were in it!! Love Us.

I love her performances in On the Waterfront (not for Marlon Brando), North By Northwest, All Fall Down, Because of Winn-Dixie, Superman Returns and the television series The Legend of Korra. I loved how Frank Sinatra presented her with her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the 27th Academy Awards. I cheered with delight when she presented the Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 90th Academy Awards
North by Northwest has been my favorite movie since it was released in 1959 when I was 13. I had always wanted to go to Mt. Rushmore because of the movie. I finally got to go five years ago & I was not disappointed like you are many times when finally seeing something you have longed for, The only thing missing was Eva Marie Saint & Cary Grant.
Saul Bass did the `split screen`..first time it ever had been done. Geez, poor Saul Bass...so brilliant, so innovative. Blocked and SHOT the shower and stairwell scenes in `Psyhco`. Barely gets any credit.
I was here for this. She had more to speak on regarding Monty. She talked about his "strange" behavior in eating his steak. She also expressed a lot more sympathy for him.
Interesting that she admits `she fired her agent` but of course this is 2014. Before that I doubt she would have mentioned it. Few actresses in the old days wanted to be thought of as feminist.
My aunt was a double for Eva Marie Saint. We would go to Schraffts for lunch and they treated us like royalty. She would tell them that she was not EMS but they never believed her
One wonders why Saint never had her face done. No reason for her to look so decrepit, even if she was 90 at the time of this interview. She did have an amazing career however, and is a delightful person.
I LOVE that she’s her naturally gorgeous self with no crazy facelift stretching her face in strange, contorted ways. She looks lovely and, yes, mature.
