I love 65 Cadillacs, beautiful car . My oldest brother and Sister in law in August 1966, rode in the back seat from the Church reception in her uncles 65 Fleetwood this color combo, still remember that, I think I was 12 years old
I love the thick chrome moldings on the door belt line for the DeVilles. Curiously enough, the Eldorado and Fleetwoods didn't have this extra bling! If I was ever to buy my dream 65-66 eldo convertible, I would HAVE to add this chrome not caring that the car didn't come that way!
My first car was a 1964 Cadillac Sedan deVille -- a huge bucket of rust.....but with a 429, 4bbl carburetor and a TH400 transmission, it would really get down the road. Since it had four drum brakes, it was not so good at stopping. LOL!
I have a Sedan (B pillar model) that my grandfather gave to me. It's in amazing condition, next to no miles, almost all original parts and it runs great. The only real work that needs to be done is to have it repainted (1 key scratch, and some minor fading), have the chrome redone (minor pitting in on the front and some slightly more serious pitting on the rear above the exhaust) and replace the roof-rails, shocks, weatherstripping, and charge the A/C. It really is a great car and an even better ride; so much smoother than modern cars.
The pillars would be the POST between the front and rear door glass. Some call the roof-top front windshield post the "A-Pillar" then the center would be the "B-Pillar" and the back of the roof is then the "C-Pillar"
Beautiful looking Cadillac Sedan DeVille. My favourite condition for cars would either be 2 or 3. A car that can be driven as it is. It doesn't have to be *perfect* in the cosmetics department. I can live with patina, as long as it doesn't penetrate the outer hull of the car.
Mike McGrail asked about the plastic piece between the doors. He is referring to an apron that Cadillac put in the forward part of "door" post/latch area as a trim piece to cover the formed steel "post" that the rear door hinges on and the front door latch is mounted. What happened to these plastic pieces is upon entry, you could have clothing hang up on a corner causing it to break. Many were removed after they were broken. I tried to show and explain at 9:37.
At 9:32 you make reference to the plastic piece between the front and rear door. Do you or does anyone know what this piece is called? I've been trying to track one down, but don't know the name. Thanks in advance.
Actually, it was on craigslist and the buyer was just one of all of us that can see what is for sale and go buy. I think the chance for local buyers far outweighs foreign buyers. Local guy can jump in a car and go get a deal done. Foreign guys have to get a seller to agree to transferring money, getting the car to an export service, title has got to be impeccably clear. AND they are buying "Sight-Un-Seen" Besides, the foreign trade is so unbalanced we need to export SOMETHING to get some of our dollars back home. DO NOT BUY IMPORT PRODUCTS!
do you still have the original air cleaner if you do you should put it on.It looks a lot better than that stupid Chrome thing on the Cadillac? It's a Cadillac it's not a hot rod! it still need's the right air cleaner so it can warm up properly by sucking in the warm air from the exhaust manifold run correct not with some aftermarket dorky air filter?
I agree with you-- The "replacement" carb that is easy to buy requires a larger diameter air cleaner base. The original does not fit. Seems that repair shops dont want to take the time to send the correct carb out to a rebuilding service that will restore the correct original carb. Shame on these shops and owners for not doing the research required to keep these cars correct.
Yeah it's too bad more people don't think to keep the original parts on a car like that for one they look better too they look right 3 they probably make the vehicle run better and just who the hell else knows why they do that with air cleaner it's better than nothing?
There is no "B Pillar" on this car.....or most other 'hardtop' sedans of that era. My old 1964 Cadillac deVille (my first car) did not have the door pillar, either.
1VaDude In 1965 & 1966 DeVille's & Calais came in both 4 door sedans & 4 door hardtops. This is a hardtop meaning is doesn't have the B pillar. A true sedan is a car that has a B pillar, a true hardtop is a car that is missing the B pillar to give the impression of a convertible with a raised roof. Even though Cadillac called their DeVille's Sedan DeVille, most were actually hardtops and not sedans. After 1970, DeVilles & Calais came in only 1 body style for the 4 door models. 1970 & older all GM C body cars (Buick Electra, Cadillac Devilles & Calais, Olds 98) came in 2 body styles for the 4 door models. All 4 door Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams were always a sedan (meaning it had a B pillar) body style, but 1884 & older 4 door Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams always had a different roof line compared to the 4 door DeVilles & Calais, even if the DeVilles & Calais were a sedan.
Must be a LIVING HELL for a small mind like you to leave in a country full of immigrants, eating from Chinese to Mexican food wearing cloths made from Taiwan to India , driving Japanese cars and going to a church that preach to be all created equal in eyes of the Lord. U must be a very irritating individual... and karma must be after you every way you look.
Looks like she is two tenths away from ninety thousand miles. Who the hell puts an aftermarket carb, air cleaner, and glass packs on a car like this? Its not a Camaro!!
Unfortunately, owners go to a parts store and/or even "do-it-yourself" and get a replacement carb. Since the original is a Carter AFB, they assume a Carter AFB (now Edelbrock AFB) is the correct carb- NOT TRUE! These new carbs have a larger diameter at the top, so the original air cleaner will NOT fit. I always hope for the original carb and air cleaner to still be with the car. But many times they are already gone.
Could it be because some people want to see the actual instruments working and the speed that the car is going? Or could it be that this is all impromptu not rehearsed driver behind the wheel is also talking about the car watching race going and holding the camera?
I'm only having fun. I'm very jelous and would absolutely love to drive that car..it truely is a survivor ...thanks for posting!!!! I enjoy watching all of it..didn't mean to be critical 😄
