Your enthusiasm is awesome! I love your attitude towards math. It's really easy to get down about concepts but you make it easy to stay up beat! thank you.
@ThinkwellVids well said! i was so honored when i was bumped up to calc 1 in sophomore year, and they said i got there because of my critical thinking skills. critical thinking gets you farther!
Hate people who ask when can we use Math in the real world. They are used in high paying jobs, not jobs such as grocery stores. They use this math in Stock Markets, Business (Stats), Doctors for Chemistry, etc. BTW, Thank you for this video, needed it as a help for my college math final. My teacher doesn't teach every way to solve a problem so I needed this.
I doubt they actually believe the math is useless, they probably mean they don't see how a certain level of math fits into their future. In my case, I'm studying to be a psychologist. And in the clinical perspective, I don't see the purpose for me to learn most of the algebra we are taught beyond math 60. Intermediate algebra and above only applies to small group of jobs, as opposed to say statistics. It just seems pointless to force everyone to learn something that will only truly benefit some people. Someone shouldn't be prevented from being a nurse because they struggle with algebra, ect.
Hey your videos are awesome and you take that little extra time to explain those 'missing' steps that teachers take for granted that you know (or rather know to apply at that particular moment). Really like your stuff. Wish you would work with Khanacademy to maybe collaborate on a broader audience - of course without the price. I prefer your vids but the price makes it difficult. Cheers, M.
This video explains very well mathematics, as well as many others on this channel. But why is this particular video called 'College Algebra' ? Our school-learning system made us study this in gymnasium (powers) and high school(negative exponents).
why can't i have you as my college math instructor? mine shoots through lessons assuming we all understand what he's teaching already. it's making nursing school EXPONENTIALLY harder for me.
Morgan Noell McKenna College math courses blow, take it 2 semesters rather than 1 by splitting the class. You will gain more knowledge than you would in reg courses.
The first problem is actually gonna be 2 instead of doing that you can just do 5-3 so the answer is gonna be 2 to the second power and that’s your answer
@8:50 "but first we flip". But you didn't flip! Notice! You transposed the 3/4 to the denominator and changed the sign of the power. Sloppy talking. Is it any wonder the students become confused?
