Pretty dark and deep episode enough so it is not seen unless you get the DVD set of Miami Vice you can’t get this episode on any streaming service… For most Miami Vice aficionados, this is the best episode of the entire series

You will never see another tv program like this again…. it was lightening in a bottle after season 2 it started to slip but the 80’s were as Sonny would say “The best of times…Pal”

Who knows can we assume that Crocketts Bren Ten penetrates Al Israel and the Bodyguard too but it’s an assumption. There is another one where in ‘Yankee Dollar’ Austin Pendleton is hit in a shootout but no one check’s to see if he is still alive when they charge Ned Eisenberg ‘Charlie Glide’ with murder in his absence.

Miami Vice was Anthony Yerkovich's baby. Mann had very little to do with the show, other than exec producer, wrote one episode, that's it. He actually had a much more personal interest in his Crime Story tv series, he directed and wrote episodes of it's unfortunately limted run.

Mann had a lot to do with MV's feel, atmosphere, style, music and so on. Yerkovich input is that he had the general idea for the show.

Yerkovich created Miami Vice, but left just a few months in. Brandon Tartikoff crucially green-lighted the series, with its unprecedented cinematic budget. Michael Mann was involved in nearly every creative decision for the seminal first two seasons, before others moved in as his Crime Story premiered in 1986. Decades later, Mann drew the ire of nearly all fans of the original series, with his embarrassing 2006 Hollywood money grab.

@@scottb136 Some season 3 episodes are pretty good, also there's one that really stands out, at least for me: "Shadow in the Dark". I love Crime Story too. I first watched it here in Poland in the early 1990s when I was a kid. I've been re-watching it recently and boy, it has a lot more depth that I remembered the last time watching it some 10 years ago, the atmosphere is really good, writing, acting, cinematography etc. - all superb. Such a shame there was no season 3 and 4. And I don't understand why William Russ' character gets killed in the pilot episode - he is such an incredible actor. Maybe there was a creative dispute or something else... Anyway, I hope they'll release it on blu-ray at some point, just like they did with MV.
