Holyfield and Tyson were also scheduled to fight around late 1991 but the fight had got postponed/cancelled and Tyson ended up going to prison in early 1992.
Holyfield had to go heavyweight because he had a gift! and he had to take it as far as he could go with it! Then look at the built he developed, in my opinion he was the best and strongest built heavyweight boxer along with Ken Norton ever
Holyfield used to have a slurred speech. Whatever he's taking it's working well. I could understand 85% of what he's saying and english is not my first language.
I watched a video that showed all the headbutts Holyfield did leading up to Mike Tyson biting his ear in that 2nd fight. I dont agree with the bite, but i understand. Mike had a big gash over his eye from those headbutts. And Mike wasnt the only victim of it.
Any version of Holyfield could have handled any version of Mike. This man had no fear lol stood toe to toe with Mike and kicked his azz. Casuals ignore this fact
People need to give Buster Douglas his props and flowers. He may not have been on the level of a Mike Tyson or evander holyfield, but the dude is a Hall of Fame boxer one of the more underrated heavy hitters of all time
Mike Tyson is the 2nd GOAT to me but this man fought him and beat him even if he did it dirty he did it and showed Tyson he didn’t fear him Tyson wasn’t always a clean fighter either props to Holyfield
Holyfield fought dirty against Tyson headbutting him repeatedly, as well as delivering a few sneaky low blows. What he did to Hasim Rahman was the worst headbutt in boxing history.
Holyfield had me hating him as a kid lol I remember I was like 14 watching the Tyson fight from the black box my drunk uncle got from NY and we watched all ppv's free. So at that time Tyson,Stone Cold,2pac and Tiger Woods were like our super hero's. Once Holyfield beat Tyson I went to sleep that day mad as hell then when I saw the rematch and saw Tyson bite his ear I kinda cheered 😂 Holyfield was a beast nothing but respect 🫡
@@cperkins5050 you're right about that too cause you tell because it never takes that long for him to put someone down after leaving his original training crew his career started declining.
You can tell Vlad never watched boxing. OF course Holyfield saw Buster fight before, everybody did. He fought on HBO and under Don King and fought for the championship before.
That Michael Dokes fight was legendary, I was only 12 years old... I knew them that Holyfield was built different because Dokes had just gotten out of prison and he was a monster. That fight was all gas no brakes...
There's no way you can factually prove he took steroids so why get on here just throwing around accusations Tyson lost and it won't ever get overturned
Even though Tyson lost, Holyfield fought dirty by repeatedly headbutting him and making it look accidental, as well as delivering a few sneaky low blows. I have thoroughly studied both fights to reach my conclusions.
@@intenseninja82 you’re 100% right. Real boxing fans know Holyfield took steroids when he moved up to heavyweight and often head-butted opponents on purpose.
😂 how exactly would he destroy holyfield? Did u not watch the Riddick bowe fights? Holyfield was tougher than Tyson and a better boxer. Roids or not, Tyson wasn't beating holyfield
@6:20, James Buster Douglas was not unknown! Douglas was a top ranked contender (#2 IBF, #3 WBC, #4 WBA), and the Tyson fight in Feb 1990 was Douglas' second shot at the World Title after coming up short in his first shot for a World Title in 1987 against Tony Tucker. This ain't a Rocky film; unknown club-fighters don't just walk in and get shots at World Titles! People that followed Mike Tyson but didn't follow Boxing hadn't heard of Douglas! (byline: Holyfield was rated #1 contender by all 3 sanctioning bodies)
Holyfield says it like a true boxing insider. Douglas’s amateur credentials should’ve been enough for Mike to take him more seriously. You don’t win “Theee Ohio State Fair” 3x unless you’re a really talented fighter.
I can remember it like it was yesterday... the Slam Dunk Contest was on and the exact same time as Douglas vs Tyson. So im flipping channels every 3mins trying not to miss nothing. I flipping to boxing like Tyson aint knock this bum out yet? Then when Tyson knocked him down in the 8th rd I kinda figured it was done as the Dunk test was getting to the Final. Then the Slam dunk announcer said anything can happen Mike Tyson just lost. I was like what??? I flip back to the fight and Buster had his hands up
I was considered a Tyson disciple back then. Hé was m'y hero as hé had the whole world in his hands. I got two Quick stories to tell. Tyson has Mike tatted on his biceps in en 89 or 90 i walked into a tatto parlour and i wanted to get Mike on m'y bicep. Hé told me to come back in a half hr. I ran back to high school, andbi still dont have a tatto to this day.
My 2nd all time favorite champ Ali is #1 holy field then Larry Holmes then Ken Norton then earnie shavers that's my era of boxers oh can't forget Dwight qwai.lenox lewis klitschko bros....😂
Tyson fought who was put in front of him, and ducked no one. This however was the mid to late eighties: arguably one of the weakest eras in HW Boxing history. When finally Tyson fought fighters who were not afraid (Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis etc) he not only lost but was stopped. Five times. What most people remember of Tyson are his ‘KO highlights’ which looked impressive (as all highlights do) but in reality Tyson was one dimentional, unable to adapt and fell apart at the seams against big, strong, tall heavyweights who hit back. That, plus being a truly appalling example to children with the biting, street fights, attempted suicide and jail time.
That’s right! Exactly what his trainer told him in the first fight in between rounds… “He ain’t the bully you’re the bully in here tonight!” Evander’s plan to beat Iron Mike was simple: bully the bully, stay on top of Mike and force him back, and fight as rough and dirty as the referee would allow.💥
Tyson fights don’t count to me. He concussed him with a headbutt and won by DQ in the second. They need the third fight to settle this once and for all.
@makumbabornface647 Yes, he went to prison in March of 1992 but was scheduled to fight evander in June 1990, but we all know what happened in the Buster fight. Then Iron Mike was scheduled to fight Evander in November of 1991, but he hurt himself during training, so his camp said.
Hated that he looked for the headbutt against Tyson more than trying to knock him out but he did that most of his career he used the headbutt to throw off fighters angles of entry by using an illegally placed headbutt then claim accidental it’s not accidental if he put his head in the way on purpose .. I hate that Fury clenches and wrestles in the ring by clenching and putting his weight down in the clinch .. they need to actually start punishing habitual clenching .. that’s not boxing that is wrestling.. if you clench more than 2x a Rd it should count as a knock down if you need help standing up you get a standing 8 ct plus it’s counted as a knockdown.. clenching is a problem IMO
It is utterly ridiculous that people will give Mike Tyson every excuse in the world for losing to Buster Douglas rather than giving Douglas credit for fighting a great fight and honestly beating Tyson. This is Evander Holyfield’s interview yet Vlad is making excuses for Tyson
He couldn't talk all that well even in his early 20s, and that thick southern accent never helped any. But yeah, he sounds pretty bad these days. Should have left the game, after beating Bowe (who sounds worse than him), in their second fight, and moved on, BUT, i guess he couldn't with all those kids he brought into this world.
Someone please teach Vlad how to do a naaatural transition. This, “OK!!” thing he always does is goofy AF. Not to mention those outfits/pictures…Oy Vey!
