This was a long one! If you enjoyed the video make sure to like so more people can enjoy it. ^^ There were some bits that didn't fit. Will post these on socials. Instagram: instagram.com/eveexplained/ Twitter: twitter.com/EveExplained
I think the successful launch represents a decided action and approach to the girl that works out and the hand face represents what society deems as "handsome" by covering up the beauty that people can be underneath.
Ohhh thank you so much! You're so analytical and amazing like always ^_^ Um one question...you know how you said the water mask blew up at the end? but since there was blood...does that mean he died? But since the girl smiled at him and his eyes sparkled, that means he's still alive?? Or maybe the blood means how the water balloon/mask was stuck to him, like he thought he should keep it, which means when he removed it, he finally removed that low self esteem thought? (sorry I might have confused you with the last part x_x, I hope you get what I mean)
A theory that I read and liked was that the boy is a famous singer/entertainer (represented by handman) but met the girl when he was just his "ordinary" self. He doesn't try to hide that he's handman and so naturally she's aware, which is fine at first but over time he starts to doubt if she likes him for who he is or just for the fame/benefits of being famous/successful. That's why he's so distraught to see her kissing handman cuz he feels that she just likes handman and not all of him. There's other symbolism throughout the video that supports this too and I thought it was a really interesting theory.
I used to think that the boy and the Handman were two identities of the same person with Handman representing the "Me" and the boy representing the "I". The other selves by his sides were the Superego and the Id while the one in the center was the Ego. I thought the entirety of the music video was about his Me and I identities fighting over whether he should make his identity qhat people percieve him to be (Me) or who he truly is (I), and the the Id, Ego, and Superego were rationalizing on which is the best course of action to take. All of this to get the girl at the end of the music video.
I had a read on id, ego, superego. Pretty interesting. Yeah I think the concept here is based on eves zingai and the manga which was mentioned with meeting/debating ourselves. There were four of them in the manga. ^^
The way that you figure the meanings behind Eves song by just analyzing the music video is mind blowing to me I love your videos so much!! Keep up the good work ;-; 💝💝💝
Hell yeah its here! When As You Like It came out I related to it on a really personal level, it came out during a time that I was pretty much going through these phases. I was still figuring out my mental illness and was sure I couldn't love but through it all I learned to stay determined. The way you describe the boy sounds like me and on top of that, some people have drawn me in a similar style and it looked like the boy, these drawings were from before the song came out so I don't have them anymore, but needless to say it was bizarre seeing what appeared to be a drawing of me in this music video. I like thinking of it as the girl not being literal and just symbolizing finding love. One day I finally did find out I could love and it was cause I stayed determined. Thanks a million for this one. I really liked when you searched "Japan electrical tower" it was funny. Intentionally or not. Good job keep it up.
Oh wow, that makes two of us. Glad you stay determined. The girl symbolising love is a sweet way of seeing it. I didn’t think of that. Happy you enjoyed this video and found some parts funny. XD If you have the time to draw I’d be happy to see it if you tag me on socials ^^
@@EveExplained Super cool you can also relate to it! And I unfortunately don't really draw anymore, sorry! I could always try to find the person who drew the pic but that was around 5-6 years ago and we had a pretty bad falling out.
I think this was the first music from EVE that I fall in love for, but I could never really understand what was happening at all. So I am very glad for your interpretation. It is so complete and interesting. Thank you very much for the video.
The Mask Hand Guy and the two round head guys are the other versions of the boy and also you can see them in near the end of the video in Baumkuchen End which is another masterpiece by E ve and GOOD JOB again :)
An idea: What if the Handman was a Zingai, or Boy's Heart form, keeping him away from the girl, and the video is more about the journey of a boy coming out of his shell, and trying to become close to the girl, and the Handman is the negative part of him, who is afraid of being rejected etc. and trying to keep the Boy away from the Girl?
I really loved As you like it It was my second E ve song I rlly love the animator/artist who made the drawings and E ve's music I rlly related to As you like it Its my fave E ve song Ty for explaining :]
as you like it is the first ever I've watched and listen to, becuz of the beautiful MV of it I've found eve The way I thought of the MV was so different, now I know what it is about.
You did a great job at this! I really love the effort you put into these videos. The interpretations were explained amazingly. I really appreciate you for taking the time and effort in figuring out the meanings behind Eve's music videos. 💯💖
great video as always, and also I noticed something at 3:37, the suit and tie looks like the same outfit Handman is wearing so it might be Handman unmasked since he is the only one with the outfit out of the washing machines
@@Nomura_Kiyoshirou hmm, I don't really think so since out of all the washing machines only one handman outfit is taken out, and thats the one Handman is wearing, and Im not rlly sure why he would steal from Handman and him following in Handman's footsteps would be out of line with the rest of the theory
I love your analysis videos! They seem super interesting, I love how you pick every single detail and look into it more. You're really an underrated channel. I hope you get recognition, these are all amazing. I hope you decide to keep making more! Cant wait to see em (:
@@EveExplained Woah that was a fast reply- And np hahah Hope you take care of yourself, and like others say, your voice is really soothing, as well as your big use of vocab, nice!! cx
Watching an Eve video is an exercise in trying to interpret all the hidden meanings. Watching an Eve Explained video is an exercise in trying to catch every 1-frame-of-texts put in.
i love how informative you are in this video. even tho you arent getting any money out of this. Daijoubu after some years i get Rich.... i will be coming back here to Donate huge amount of money for you.
i thought there was going to be something more in depth about the end because i never understood what happened clearly to me the song and MV were about a musician who puts on a play, as to pretend he's being himself to the public. this "persona" is HandMan, the person people think he is based on what they see on the concerts The boy meets the girl and doubts himself and is insecure so he just shows Handman. He then reaalizes that the girl might be falling in love with a fake persona so he tries to be himself more, being more brave, showig who he really is in front of the girl but ends up failing and succeeding; since Handman gets the gurl, he is heartbroken and can't do anything about it; on the other _hand_ he shows who he really is to his audience this all sound good, the rockets being his attemps at confessing, the part where he lifts the glove a little showing that Handman it's just a superficial appereance, the boy not seeing himself in the mirror and whenever he says to be braver it shows an abstract drawing of his face, getting split feelings.... but... WHAT IN TARNATION HAPPENED AT THE END?? the boy killed himself and suddenly the girl liked that? thought it was a metaphor to how artists thrive after death and shit, or maybe that when he showed his worst was the only part the girl liked. the water bubble-mask thing is obviously a metaphor to "bottling up" (it gets bigger through the video) but i can't get the ending, the way you said the boy is happier or better since his eyes are brighter and doesn't cover his face but to me the ending is like.... ¿not postive? gahhhhhh
I wanted to chime in on my take of this vid. It's about building a life around Depression and some innuendos about suicide, especially the romantic kind. The glove guy is his depression - see the flames behind him is creating a severe depressive episode, the glove guy trying to slip a bag/glove costume over his head as depression seeping in, and once you see the boy laughing with his arm around the glove as depression can be there but you can still laugh at times. As you watch you can see that his personas all appear and have all thumbs up meaning he knows in his heart with her is where he wants to be but the glove guy is always in between them. At one point the glove guy gets the kiss but that is him battling with the questions if she could love him at his worst or not. You can also see this portrayed in his isolation - locking windows and it only being him and the glove guy. I have battled depression for a long time but I find this video, although it may seem the opposite, as uplifting. He takes his chance with this girl in the end and keeps repeating how he needs so much courage just to hold her hand and don't say it's too late.
oh my god, yk, i never really read the english translation or watched the mv properly but i listen to this song all the time, i never knew what it meant. glad i found this vid
I spent hours looking for an explanation of this song in Spanish, but I couldn't find anything. Until I finally found your video, an amazing explanation that I was able to translate XD Simply wonderful
I remember that while listening to the music right after the last verse, the english subtitles said something about the manga Jibun Kaigi. I’m trying to understand if there’s a way the story relates to the song
