This tune is based on Funkify Your Life by The Meters, which came out on their album New Directions in 1977. The original is a hugely catchy slice of raw funk with added talkbox goodness, but is quite slow on the BPMs. My version massively speeds things up and adds some jacking, hip shaking hi hats alongside new kicks and percussion to totally transform it into something new and danceable. It came out on Igor Gonya’s See-Saw label in February 2021.
