I am an American citizen who was born and raised till my mid 30s in Iraq. I have always believed the real problem of Americans is that they don’t have real problems. Very well spoken Ms. Park. A very good interview. It’s such a shame that she’s not on MSM.
Actual perspective on oppression is so much different than imagined oppression. Yeonmi is articulate, intelligent and courageous, she is a human triumph over oppression.
And the people who have the hardest life in America are also ungrateful because it still ain't as hard as it is in many other even western countries. Here we have a thing called self reliance and we have a system that supports the fruits of our labor.
@@michele8600 Unfortunately, Our culture, as a whole, has lost the entire concept of gratitude. For example, I could say, I've worked hard for everything I have. I earned it, so, I deserve it. Yet never once considering the fact that I was blessed by God with 2 fully functioning arms and legs, no mental illness or impairment, and no malformation of my mouth, so I can speak and eyes that see. Many people don't have these gifts, so they have been incapable of working the way I have. There's always something to be grateful for, even during the toughest of circumstances.
I don't understand "woke" and "cancel" culture either. I am a first born US citizen and I grew up with family members who had first hand experience with dictatorship regime in communist Cuba. My dad when he was alive would tell stories how he was sent to prison for disagreeing with the government and not wanting to join the communist army. My dad understood fighting to protect family is important, but he was against the military industrial complex and forced false wars (Cuban Missile Crisis was propaganda Castro was milking to create more problems for the people). My dad is no longer around, passed over, but his words and stories about standing your ground peacefully and only fight to defend your family... his words and actions on being yourself and doing what is right live on. Albert Einstein was right when he said, "Doing the right thing isn't always popular and what is popular isn't always the right thing."
To date, this is the best interview with Yeonmi Park that I've seen - a lot of hard-learned wisdom here. I like her observation that the cancel- culture folks have the "problem of not having problems ".
@@doug6259 no theyre delusional but there is just lots of delusional people in usa. They stopped caring about human rights and started caring about pushing lgbt and other like minded insanity
She is so amazing, everything she’s been through and her family and still going through, it’s a privilege just to hear how she believes about the ridiculousness of people and how humanity is being stupid and there is more good than bad. I agree with all of what she’s saying.
Well done to The Telegraph for giving Yeonmi time to tell her story; the interviewer also showed professionalism and skill and he clearly prepared himself. Very well done. Yeonmi deserves utmost respect. She is amazing and so dignified. What a jewel, a gift to Humankind!
An interview with Yeomni Parks& Jordan Peterson's worth a listen, l did on tube . l believe her, and she's consistent on every different platform she speaks on,and also with what other NK defectors say.
I admire her determination to survive against all odds. She is also very intelligent. It is obvious from her command of the English language, understanding of human behavior and world politics, plus deep insights on survival. She had her answers all ready and did not stumble thru the interview. I only hope that somewhere down the line she is not fake and a setup for western propaganda. So far, she is a textbook case as to why WOKE and socialism will fail. Of course, the US will also fail on its own, not because of external thereats.
Everyone saying her comparisons are bullshit, trying to say she's an actress, but they have no proof.... "Critical thinking isn't a thing in north korea" clearly it's leaving everywhere else too.
@@agabrielrose wtf is a sniff test? Either way that doesn't make her an actress. If she were she'd be performing in KJU's propaganda films or performing in China, and that's only if she were born from an elite family which she wasn't.
@@spectralight8412 It's a metaphor referring to the smell of bullshit. It means her stories don't seem plausible even on the occasions when she hasn't contradicted herself. I didn't say she was an actress; "actress" is a decent profession. She's a liar.
Cursed One I agree; the socialist defenders of DPRK would have us believe the 30,000 other NK defectors with similar stories are all lying too. Same people also stick up for the CCP and say the same things about Laowhy86 and Serpentza and are called "white monkeys"

This interview opened my eyes so much , and I’ve watched and consumed so much information off of the internet , she has given me new perspective on things the way she was able to explain them
People who have had lives as difficult as this young woman have learned how to suffer without despair, and those who do not have difficult lives despair without suffering. Her comment about instant gratification and dopamine may be key to understanding the mental difference.
This girl is incredible. I love her point about being “triggered” and how the search for truth is the most important thing. And also how feelings aren’t “facts”. So true.
I do not get why the whole focus of her university experience seems to be this supposed “laser-focus on woke-culture and white guilt” or if it it is a specially focused class on white privilege What did she expect??
and to think that some “comment box critics” armchair experts accuse her of making things up and having inconsistencies on her narrative... The amount of suffering and trauma she has been through is unimaginable! If anyone in the west was exposed to a fraction of that, they would fall seriously damaged psychologically and will end their lives. Yet, this beautiful strong lady OVERCAME she endured, she got out of hell, and she mended her mind, and healed her soul, and today she is a GIFT to Humanity, telling us the truth and the horrors of so socialism and communism... She is a treasure and must be protected! Probably, she is the “public figure” that I admire the most currently in the world.
"Even North Korea isn't this crazy" Defector Yeonmi Park on woke tyranny, What this woman of spirit talks about is telling and insightful. Highly intelligent and charming woman.
Wow so amazing! Thank Christ for getting this woman out of there. Her story is so inspiring. That fact that she had to follow the north star to freedom. Amazing
@@Flamingpiano Agree! We don't have to agree 100% on everything, we can find out if we agree 40% or 80% of what we agree with after listening to someone's speech. Sometimes the fake woke people would assume that we have to agree 200%.
That's a mature opinion right there. The saddest thing is there are still people out there who are gonna disagree with the same 20% or 30% but will start calling to cancel her. What a powerful tool we have: cancel. If utilized properly, it could've been a true force for good. If only we hadn't started cancelling random people every week for something stupid they said when they were 16. What a waste..
We live in a time when evil is sold as good and vice versa - it is terrifying to witness the complicity of the population in their own demise. Anyone who supports this global agenda needs to do some research. This young woman is being honest. Honesty is sorely lacking today.l God help us!
The whole concept of being “triggered” has roots in an old idea regarding teaching and learning in K-12 schools. That idea is that developing “self esteem” in students is more important than teaching/ learning or the students’ answers being correct. “Self esteem” was built by never contradicting students … meaning that teaching was removed from school and replaced by self-affirmation. So, now, it is not surprising that students are upset when their views are challenged or contradicted. Psychologists now know that the “self esteem” approach is totally invalid, but I see it continues to be deployed in schools.
This should be played at schools around all western countries right now. Sadly, and mark my words, unless each and every one of us stands up for the truth and fights for our freedom today, we soon won’t be able to watch discussions like this on youtube.
I totally agree with her. I knew it was only a matter of time before I would hear her talking about cancel culture. It must be bad when a north korean speaks about how much sense it all makes.
I'm German and we have been subjected to this. Even though WWII is over for almost 80 years and I've been born decades after it ended, I have nothing do to with it, my parents hadn't and my grandparents had the most horrific youth, but were way too young to be politically involved or influential at that time, yet, the amount I've been called a N*** or were judged for the past or what my country did almost 100 years ago, is astonishing. My country is the only one I've come across (and I had the privilege to travel & live in a lot), that actually reflected on its past & I'm so proud of that. I do think reflecting & taking responsibility is very important. In a clumsy way, I think that's what woke tries to do perhaps, because for so many nations it hasn't happened yet... I think there's a lot of denial going on. But cancel-culture or hating on specific people, is so dangerous. Or having certain narratives either way that have nothing to do with truth, evidence or rationality. But I never understood how, for example, the UK, US, Australia or France... get away with so much stuff. In my personal experience, especially the USA/Americans, I gotta say, were very judgemental about Germany's past... I'm kinda of at a point where I'm like "Excuse me, says who?"
They need to be forced to play this throughout the halls of congress, the universities and especially the grade school system. I love this young lady, she is speaking loudly and on point!!!
She is wonderful. An icon of freedom; so articulate and very, very brave. All teenagers should have just one school lesson to simply sit and watch this interview.
My questions are: Who approved those classes? Who is responsible for hiring those teachers who are teaching this nonsense the young generation? How it is even possible this has been allowed to happen? And why they are not held accountable of this???
This material is EPIC! And this Woman is LEGENDARY! She's such a beautiful Human Being, and like one of top bravest and moral beings in the entire world today! She should be considered a true top superhero, and an exemplar of morals to aspire at, while all these stupid comic book superpower wielders shall be thrown into a toilet and flushed. There are many heroes like her in our history, but we simply do not pay any attention to them, instead letting the entertainment business fill our brains with stupid unreal pulp. I'm super interested in what's Ms. Park's explicit opinion about the Columbia's Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy, because everything shows that's the very gate through which all that woke crap actually entered USA. It's when the Rockefeller-funded Paul Lazarsfeld's Radio Research Project met neo-Marxists of the Frankfurt School's Institut fuer Sozialforschung, fleeing from Hitler in 1937, and thus leading to Bureau of Applied Social Research, and then to the current Institute. It's the conceptualized before WWII, and then developed in USA during and after the war Critical Theory, which is causing all what we see happening on Universities across the world and in many public schools. It's destroying logic, reason and sciences. It's especially denying any references to, or even the very existence of Truth. This ideology is far MORE dangerous, than DPRK's totalitarian regime, even though it doesn't physically eliminate anybody (at least yet), which shall be very clear after watching this material! The only thing, which I'd be cautious about is the modern Human Rights concept. It's itself Revolutionary and nowadays produces dangerous fake ideas, like "right to Internet access" or "reproductive health". Considering the so called Humanist Manifestos, one can see where it's leading - it's simply another part of the same deconstructive process. Nothing happens just by itself PPL! Everybody SHALL study these things, so we can free ourselves from the incoming tyranny of mind-snatchers!
@@riorio745 Sadly a lot of them do. They cite social programs and the progressive nature of communism. They fail to see the CCP is not real communism anyways. Also most of the left in the US is obsessed with anti racism so they id anti ccp as anti Asian.
@@matths226 Unfortunately that isn't reality. American "intellectuals" have been embracing communism for decades. There were many openly lauding the Soviet Union until it was not debatable how horrible it was. And even after were softly embracing it by attacking Reagan. None of them have really ever been held accountable for it. The NYT denied the existence of the Holodomor while they reported about how great Stalin's 5 Year Plans were. A Pulitzer was even awarded for a reporter covering it. Just like the Pulitzer for the Russian Collusion reporting.
Wow 😮 what a woman 🥰 I agree with so many things that she said. Social media censorship… I don’t mind that some people are rich but many of them exploit their workers to get rich and that’s the problem.
Being 'woke' is not blaming this generation for what our predecessors did, it's about understanding what we did wrong to others and changing our behaviour to live together more peacefully and equal as a human race. Yeonmi's views are how 'anti-woke' & Conservatives mistakenly interpret 'wokeness'.
What an insightful interview that really hammers home the evil of communism. Unfortunately, there are too many idiots in our country who will continue to ignorantly advocate for it, without knowing all that it entails, or where it inevitably leads. Yeonmi Park is an inspiration to us all.
Beautiful, strong and intelligent. She deserves a lot of respect for what she’s been through. Perhaps she deserves The Nobel Peace Prize or something like it. Great interview.
Just knowing about freedom and what it is... she has given me much-needed perspective. When I'm feeling downtrodden and full of self pity. I listen to her. I then realize how lucky we are and that the rights we have are worth fighting for.
I honestly think i'd blow a fuse if i had gone through what she had and then people would walk up to me and be like "i'M sO OpReSSeD" while they have literally 0 problems.
She is strong and wise. Thank God we have her. I will listen to this with my 13 yrs old son. We are in the NYC area and she's right. People are nuts here. Creating problems all over the place. God bless and keep her safe. It's people like her who can wake up the West.
Whenever they say that it is Karl Marx and Marxism it makes me mad: Marx actually taught that the proletarians of all countries and races should unite and support each other in their common goal of overthrowing the rich elites (the owners of the means of production)...that it is a class struggle (the wealthy owners of the means of production (a minority) (i.e. big business, corporations owners) against the majority, the proletarians, who have to sell the time of their life for money (labour) while the minority rich elites, generate surplus off of that, so that they keep getting richer (hiring more ppl who directly sell their time and labour, hence even more surplus for the elites and more hired workers...) so the rich get richer, and the poor stay poor. That's what Marx taught and it makes a lot of sense. It is only in the modern days that they perverted his real teaching and substituted it for something entirely different and nonsensical (that it is somehow about race or gender lol) And it almost looks like it has been done on purpose because the rich elite minority wants to stay safe with all of its money and power and instead pits groups of regular proletarians against one another, to keep them distracted from the real problem and their real exploiters! And they call this insane new theory Marxism, when in reality Marx believed that the proletarians of all countries and ethnicities should unite and overthrow the richest elites.. according to Marx it is the business owners who hire (exploit) workers for their labour that are the evil ones. And the big corporation owners are the worst offenders... One may agree or disagree with this (real) Marxism, but one has to agree that this theory has nothing to do with what they call "Marxism" these days!
Watch as people start accusing the woman of suffering from "white-skin privilege" and "internalized racism" or start pointing to Korea's "colorism" problem so that somehow means she has no right to speak on this fsr. Yes, there are actual people who think like that and say those things.
Such a powerful analysis of what victim means. I totally can see her point. I admire her intelligence and how she is capable of using a second language to express her view about people and matters. 💖❤💖❤💖❤💖❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏Bless her in safe place for sharing her mind. ❤💜❤💜❤💜❤💜
I predict that someday Yeonmi will be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, and perhaps win it, particularly if her human rights efforts reach a larger stage, which is quite likely given her brave and beautiful spirit. We are fortunate to have her as an American. I so deeply wish that she had never encountered the Woke pathology at Columbia. That should have been a deeply enriching cultural and educational experience. That it was marred by Woke psychopaths is a crime.
I wonder if during the wokeness era now, when war comes, how everyone will act. Are we the country we were all these decades being the best through the hard work and sacrifices of many Americans? Soldiers don't have a solid reason why they fought for our country, being mistreated after dispatch. Country divided as ever. Censorship to the max now. It is essentially a recipe for another country to just take over. Freedom comes with a price. Rights aren't given they are earned. Its just our forefathers fought to give us this privilege of having rights. And by censoring what we say around people is already a loss of one of our first freedoms. Speech. Why are people so blind to this as We have to watch anything we say that offends anyone now. It is essentially dangerous
