That brigade with 2 BMP3s, a BMP2M, BMP1 and a tank is just so good. I got to use the BMP2M the other day and it is just so much fun. Every lat and hat just hunts you all game haha.
BMP-3 has a fairly decent armor in frontal projection and while the sides and back are not as tough, they are still ~50 cal. resistant and have some anti shrapnel solutions. But the warrior would still penetrate it irl from any side at that range and probably ammo rack this autoloader filled with 100mm HE shells and Arkan ATGM's. Well, british are underwhelming in comparision to everyone in general imo, but i don't see any solution.
BMP-3’s sides are not 50 cal proof. The frontal sides, that are 60 mm thick, are 50 cal proof, but most of the side is 43 mm ABT-102 aluminum, which can stop 50 cal AP only at distances over 500 meters. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cPXyMIY5nA0.htmlsi=_PG2BThaJ8jnTxzO ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UYaViAZh1Iw.htmlsi=1QUWMrMgSsjlpYkn After passing through frontal armor Rarden’s APDS will have similar size and kinetic energy to a shotgun slug. That is not enough to reliably cause ammunition detonation. There is a video of the aftermath, of a column of BMD-4s, that have even thinner armor, being shredded through the sides by some kind of autocannon. The crew and all dismounts were killed but the ammunition did not detonate. On the other hand, HEAT ammunition reliably causes their ammunition to detonate, completely obliterating the vehicle. Probably has something to do with the fact that the cumulative jet travels at over 6 km/s when it hits the ammunition. Squad devs need to do something about large caliber HE shells not doing damage to light armor. A 100-125 mm HE shell should be dealing damage to light armor and IFVs. Yeah, British Army has been using more or less the same shit for nearly 40 years. Shame that Warrior modernization program has been cancelled. That 40 mm cannon armed version was dope.
