Beautiful vintage Radio. Those GEs and Philips portables were made to last. Often overlooked by many hobbyist. Its has a nice big speaker which makes listening to MW easy on the ears. I had a GE with SW 1&2 A TV Band,Am ,FM as a kid. It was made in Japan, a super radio. I think it was built in the 70s. Even being analog, they still haven't improved overall performance today we find in vintage radios of this type. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas.
I have one of these. Got it from my brother. I used to use it at work, connected to an EV speaker system. Still works great and impresses friends who hear it. Great for DX, only equaled/slightly surpassed by my old Zenith tube set. Yes, I use an antenna boost coil sometimes too.
What are you using outdoors to feed into your loop? (Correct if I'm wrong, but the outdoor antenna goes into the center connector on that mini-plug and a ground can be attached to the shielding?)
The loop in this video is connected to my 70' longwire antenna, via coax (with a 9:1 unun at feedpoint.) And yes, center conductor to the tip of the plug.
