The concept behind this event is hosting an art show in a home, rather than a traditional art gallery. Every piece in the house was for sale.
The client mostly wanted candid shots of guests interacting with the art and each other, but since I arrived early, I was able to get lots of detail and room shots and to make this video for you ;) Because they already had traditional catalogue shots of each piece, I felt freed up to be a bit more creative in how I photographed each piece and room.
This house was gorgeous and so was the ambient lighting. I really wanted to do it justice and photograph this in a way that matched the mood of what it was like to be there, so I chose to use available light 99% of the time. Often this meant being at f1.2 with my Canon RF50 F1.2. For the wider shots, I used an EF 17-40 F4 at F4 at very slow shutter speeds since wider lenses can tolerate such.
