Didn't know this was a thing until I saw a Reddit thread, call me a muppet in the comments for not noticing this but I think it's neat #pokemon #pokémon
I expected this exact comment. In truth, I've been aware of Pokémon using leitmotifs to convey stuff being present in the main series since Gen VI (And earlier in Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team), but never noticed a single example of it prior to that. It was a genuine 'wait, what?' moment when this was pointed out as I never made this connection before
@@Slimeade Sort of! There are a few songs that are totally separate but there's about a dozen leitmotifs, maybe a couple more, that get constantly re-used and recontextualized with new original chunks constantly in that game. Some people have even made charts showing the leitmotif relations between all of the game's music, revealing that most of the game's OST could seamlessly flow together as one big long medley that would sound quite similar to just listening to the OST normally.
Leitmotifs in video games scratch a certain part of my ADHD brain. I clocked this almost immediately but I'm super glad this video exists so more people can realize it!
@@Elekeon I know Galar for certain does it, Motostoke's leitmotif is used in a lot of things (I call it Motostoke's because it was the first theme revealed, but it's more of a Galar leitmotif), and Postwick and Turffield are basically the same track in different styles
I understand where you coming from and I definitely hear it but that last ending bit before the loop is a bit of a stretch. Not sure how to phrase it in proper music terms
Awesome. First time I was exposed to this was in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Medley by Dr Pez on youtube. Beautiful listen especially towards the end when they play Ever Grande City’s theme.
