This song was written for his Mother in which was ill with Cancer when he was 12. He couldn't understand why his Mom couldn't play or do things other Moms did. I can relate, 4 time Cancer Survivor here and this is the BEST song ever!Most people relate this song with an significant other, not with one beer A-hole!

MB20/Rob Thomas has this style of playing which is very unique compared to others, I can't explain it but there is really something behind their songs/music that makes you wanna listen to it again and again. I hope you all agree with me on this. Have a nice day :)
Probably cause its one of his most endearing songs, seeing as he wrote it for his wife who was dealing with serious health issues at the time and doctors couldnt figure out what it was for quite sometime.
I been hearing when i was 9 on the radio. Tried searching for it couldn't find it. So i tried a male artist who can match his voice. Rob thomas was the choice i chose because i listen one of his song. listening every songs of his album until i found the one. Glad i found it.

It's insane. I'm obsessed with this song. I haven't obsessed over a song like this since I was a teenager (I'm twenty-eight). I have been playing this over and over for days. For me, it's the perfect blend of nostalgia, melancholy, and sweetness. Or maybe I've just finally snapped. =S
That version is really pretty. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who felt that way. I finally quit listening to it daily a couple of weeks back. It was really an odd experience. There were a couple of weeks where it just felt like I was walking in my sleep, one day just fell into the next. And this song was exactly what I needed at that time. I don't know if the tone of the song reflected my emotional state at the time or what, but that was really different. I definitely won't forget that couple of weeks thanks to this track. Lovely song, regardless.
Xaelvik 1 This is really cool. ^ You explained that really well & I've never been able to. Then you look back & remember those brief periods of time & have a song to associate with them. & even though they were dark or whatever...the memory is in a way good because it was the "time of that song." The "time I just kept playing that song!" & it adds excitement to the pain or nothingness that would have otherwise been all that coincides with the memory.
2023-Rob Thomas & Matchbox 20 has been my favorite since I first heard them. I still to this day listen to him everyday & always will till the day I die.

My boyfriend dedicated this song to me and he always refers to it either when I tell him to grab me some water or tell him something that was heavy on my chest. He is always there for me. And like the song says, he wants to carry my burdens with me and he wanta to be the same♡♡♡
I used to listen to this song in the car with my auntie when I was little, like 10 or 11. Now I'm 26. This song gets me thinking about the kid I used to be and the hardships I didn't even know I was enduring. But I think my favorite part of growing up has been becoming the adult I needed when I was that little kid. I hope they're proud of the person we've become.
This song makes me cry. Because he looks so much like my older son. Him and I had a great mother son relationship. and i see when the song was written and it has been about seven years since I have seen him. And pray he is alright. Because his father and I have not been able to talk. And his father is a jerk.
