I thought Arnak and Everdell were pretty close in terms of complexity. However it could be because I played Everdell for the first time over a year ago and Arnak only last month and I'm more experienced now than I was. I like both more than Wingspan (which was just OK for me) in any case.
I understand what you mean in saying Arnak is unforgiving. Sometimes you need just one more compass to set a chain of actions that will let you explore, than use your card in hand to collect resources for each worker on board, than use those resources to go up the research track, than use the new bonus to do some other stuff. I'm guilty of trying to plan 4-5 turns in advance and then I just can't get that missing resource that would enable the whole combo. But this is also what I remember about Everdell. If I had just one more wood, I could do this terrific combo but I'm kind of stuck now. Also, the first game of Everdell we played, my wife finished 30 minutes before anyone else and she just went to bed 😅 She never wanted to play again. So I think both games are pretty unforgiving, specifically for less experienced players.
This is such a fantastic game. The artwork, the cards with nice combo's, the way the different seasons work: sometimes someone pulls back his workers for the next seasons and suddenly all possibilities arise for you.. I can't wait to play this again :)
First time i disagree with you guys ^^ Your points are valid but i would rate it one higher then you. But i am curious, wich expansion do you feel is the best? We got the Main Game on German so we sadly need to wait for the expansion, because i hate to mix 2 languages in one Game ^^

I think everdell needs spirecrest to give a full game feel... first time playing it made me feel as if there is something missing. Pearlbrook was good but spirecrest is the expansion which makes everdell feel like a complete game.
No worries. A lot of people are saying that they enjoyed it a lot more than we did. So it might be a fantastic or maybe even a must-have for you. Let us know when you get it :)
You might be surprised how many people still don't even know Catan and other classics so there is definitely more people out there that don't know Everdell rather than the ones who do.
Also, no other youtuber does this type of review and this one is great. Honest and straight to the point with all the information you want to hear really.
