A judge ordered bail of $5 million Monday for the Everett mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son and leaving his body on the side of Interstate 5 in Pierce County last week.
Janet Garcia, 27, made her first appearance in Snohomish County Court Monday morning after her arrest on Friday in connection to the death of her son, Ariel Garcia. According to court filings, police believe Janet Garcia stabbed the boy “up to 41 times” in a gruesome attack inside an apartment on Vesper Drive in Everett last week.
Investigators allege the boy’s death may have stemmed from a custody dispute between Janet Garcia and her mother, who petitioned on March 25 to obtain guardianship of Ariel Garcia.

I wonder if he had to practice before he could keep his face straight. I noticed that defence lawyers aren't very good at looking sincere for people who need to lie so much. Their verbal techniques are fine, but before I started seeing them in action I would have expected them to be noticeably excellent liars as far as non-verbals and such go. I guess it is hard to train something like that.

Because he’s done this over and over and over. And because you develop a thick skin because you have to. It’s the same thing when you work in healthcare like I did. If you didn’t develop a thick skin you couldn’t do your job and you’d help no one. And if you didn’t you’d be a crying mess day after day. A criminal lawyer is no different. Do you expect them to stand up and fall apart? Trust me, I’m sure they’ve gone home many times and lost it. But at the end of the day they still have to do their job.

When you work in any industry that deals with the death and the destruction of the human body you have to develop a thick skin or you couldn’t possibly do your job. What’s the alternative? Defence attorneys are defending the law, not the person. If you don’t have defence attorneys you don’t have a justice system. Just like healthcare workers defence attorneys have to learn to bottle their emotions or they could not do their job. And if they don’t do their job right the first time you pay for another trial all over again. They don’t like these people anymore than we do. But if you don’t have a fair legal system innocent people go to prison and guilty people walk. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s the best there is. You have to have someone prosecute a crime and you have to have someone defend a crime. And the truth about what really happened is somewhere in the middle.

@@tas22222hee attorney is a public defender appointed by the state and tax dollars by these attorneys. So it isn't money or fame, it's upholding the constitution. And attorneys can not make defendants plead guilty, they can suggest but ultimately it's their clients decision

You do understand that without defensive attorneys you’d have a chaotic justice system, right? And you do understand that criminal defence attorneys have to look at the death and destruction of the human body day after day after day, right? Then they have to learn how to shut off all those emotions or they couldn’t do their job, just like healthcare workers have to? And if they can’t do their job then you don’t get to try these people and put them in prison forever. If you were arrested wrongfully would you want somebody up there that can do their job or do you want somebody up there who can’t? They don’t like these people anymore than we do. But they have to put on a proper defence or the guilty verdict will just get overturned and you’ll be paying for a new trial all over again. I can guarantee you her lawyer(s) can stand her any more than we can but somebody HAS to defend her. If the person charged can afford their own attorney fine but if not they get an attorney appointed to them. And all attorneys go into the pool that is the legal aid system and all do their time.

What are complete and total waste of human potential. Not the mother, but the waste of potential in that little boy. This is got to be one of the most disgusting and foul types of mother there ever is. She’s gonna blame it on drugs and her spouse or she’s gonna say she don’t remember or something. She’s gonna say she don’t remember, because if she was high on drugs. No one cares if you were high or not. If you didn’t have it (MURDER) in you, you wouldn’t have done it. You were perfectly capable of murdering another human that was weaker than you and you did it. Simple. Case closed. You don’t have to make up a bunch of lies about it. I’m a recovering Heroin addict but I never, ever, laid a hand on my child. I never had it in me in the first place. No amount of drugs or alcohol can encourage me to hurt someone else. I have 4 yr old twins this makes me sad. I feel bad when I yell at them how can she stab him over and over?! Wtf. I CANNOT imagine what he went through his little mind while the one person he trusted hurt him. Poor baby 😞

What attorney wants to protect a child abuser /murderer ?? This is sick case. These boys deserved way better care. The grandma shoulda got emergency custody just based on conversating with this phsyco.
