? They still have all the other designs though.. they saw a market for people who want a more traditional backpack but that doesnt mean they dont have all the other designs.
I'll be the one to say it. Some of the choices EG made baffle me. No breathable back panel (I don't buy their reason as to why they couldn't use it). Horrible colors except for the dark oak. WAXED back panel. Why?? Not everyone lives in Montana. For all their design aptitude, EG sometimes makes really stupid choices.
These are the greasy cheeseburgers of the bag world. It's not healthy or practical to have all the time, but god damn is it good. It scratches that itch. That's all it is. They don't do the impractical shit in their regular lineup if they can help it, and otherwise keep us on a healthy balanced diet. You can't say the blood orange isn't nice to look at.
like you, breathable back panel is a TOP and a MUST requirement for all the bags I have. I stay in Singapore for reference when it is hot and humid all year round. I skipped this collection the moment I saw the back panel and can only pray hard they release a regular version with the same back panel as the MPL22's (those are fine for me). I get that they wanna stick to heritage and the overall look of the backpack, but it simply means this is not for me.

I’m excited to get my CTB 26 and love the griffin collection. I wish they had it in black to match my TD and CPL in black but the tan will be a great color!
Did the CTB26 come in a very compact box? Mine got delivered and I’m out of town. I only see a relatively compact box on my camera so I’m hoping that’s it.
Appreciate it JB! Just got my CBB yesterday and it’s pretty great. Maybe a couple nits to pick but easily overcome by the sheer look of the bag. That leather bottom alone is so amazing looking. Also, put me on board with one that loves the orange interior, although I do also love the coyote they had on the xpac CTB.
I would have gotten a cap1 in camo on top of my cbb if it had the normal magnetic closure. I mean, looks wise, this is awesome. But it adds a serious snagging feature and makes using it more cumbersome. I dno. Maybe I should get one because it looks awesome?
Amazing bag CB22, and CTB26! I went for CB22 and man I love it. Also cool insight and EG needs to correct. The leather on the bottom is actually 6/7oz which is 2.14+mm thick. If you look at my post in Carryology classified I share a screen shot from EG comment on the leather bottom.
Don’t know about massively better than the originals. It looks amazing and probably feels amazing in waxed canvas but it’s heavier and for some reason the breathable back panel didn’t make it onto the griffin 2. I am still trying to convince myself that I need one and will use it more over my phoenix 2. The water bottle pockets are definitely better on the griffin at least aesthetically cause they’re almost completely flush when not in use
Really tough call when compared to PHX2...they're just both so awesome and yet so different. The back panel doesn't bother me and the true win is the feel of the canvas. It will only get better looking
It's starting to show that many people are starting to dislike the horrible ugly orange colour inside because they have yet to sell out. No its not "nice" EG is simply using left over material for the interior colours. Loved my CTB26. But enough of this "Carryology themed colour". Maybe just put a few orange accents on the bag somewhere. Many more people would have purchased it if they had only used a better colour. I truly feel Carryology will soon release a roll of toilet paper and dye it orange and idiots will pay double to buy it. Its a beautiful bag but man what the hell are they doing. Not to mention over 4 lbs empty is something to consider. Oh and just for folks to know Ten Thousand went out of business last year and everything was on clearance. But even at regular price their items were a very reasonable price. Now they are back in business and everything is double and triple the price. Whathappened?
I hate to break it to you, but it’s not the orange interior. These are luxury items and when it costs $8/gallon of milk at the grocery store people have to conserve somewhere. Myself included.
I hear you and you have a good point...but the orange is a Carryology signature...so it will always be there. I personally enjoy the orange...but it was a High School color. The good news is that at least Evergoods often re-releases builds without the orange if they sell well. As for the still available part, with the success of each limited drop I'm sure the numbers they order go up....so I wouldn't claim it's a failure by any stretch - Evergoods said it was their biggest day on release day.
