@@smiffy8364I know what you mean as they must of gotten fed up with having to do the cheesy comedy act all the time which was in contrast to behind the scenes

Paula - I read your post and felt relieved… cos I’m not the only one who just has to listen - and watch - Don and Phil every single day! Cos like you, I think they’re the most gorgeous, handsome, beautiful men with the most perfectly beautiful voices. I have to admit though that for me, Don has always been the one that really got to me… that baritone voice of his reaches down and grabs me! Oof! And that fabulous black hair… those dark eyes that sometimes gaze long and hard right down the camera in close-up though not so much in this particular video, unfortunately. But try the one on RU-vid that’s labelled Everly Brothers “Price of Love” Medley - it should come with a health warning! Enjoy…

You will never hear harmonies like theirs again. I treasure the 2 concerts seen of theirs. They were never 'over the hill,' 'out of touch' or forgotten by millions who saw or heard them. I treasure these clips and thank those who put them up.
There is Nothing like Brothers Harmonizing ,,, These guys were the BEST,,,,,,,,This is the Cutest thing I’ve seen, Jimmy Dean at His Best,,,,,,,,Real Talent,,,,,
For sure. His distinctive tenor harmonizing is what gives them their unique sound!! Impeccably well-executed harmony by both of them whether live or on records!! :) And Phil plays stand-up bass also?? Such talented pros!!
I loved them so much ... they were part of my life and I felt they will be with me forever.. and they will while I am still around. RIP dear Don and Phil
These wonders are the music I was born to! At the age of 8 I was figuring out how Phil did that "high singin'"... I am 56 years old was born in ' 66 ...I caught on to that high singin and been doing it since.. and they make me instantly happy from the first lick or riff! I guess that would make me a bit of an addict! They are gone now, sadly.. but I keep their music alive and will never have the words to express that learning these harmonies changed my life..I have been singing for 40 years in church.. and in a family band...simple music? Nope pure! These boys are timeless and my lullabies to my grandbabies sound real nice.. Dream..Ebony Eyes..thanks for this clip.. I have often been sore about being born too late to see my heros live!
Very simply, this age of music, the 60s, would not be the same without these two guys. They were the inspiration of so many talented individuals that followed them. And to think, they were not sure whether to go country or rock but would be successful regardless of which genre they choose. What a great talented pair.
"Why Worry" (1986). The best song the Everly Brothers every sang. Their performance with Mark Knopfler, who wrote the song, and Chet Atkins was amazing.
We loved you so much. Say hi to my brother, David, though I was the one who always sang the third. I hope it's not too long before I'm up in Harmony Heaven with you three, your Daddy, Ike, and our Mama and Daddy, her mother, Mamie, all of singing every song you recorded, and in church as duets, quartet, trios and every combination you could make out of us. ANd, by the way, "don't tell her I'm in jail. . . Mar ry, Mar Arir airer reee. Oh Lord, this cell is cold."
Further to my previous comments, I must express my shock that both Everly's are now gone. Virtually all of our musical roots are now gone. The Everly's changed the music world almost as much as Elvis. Whereas Elvis added one new face to the music world, The Everly's added another
What a super posting! So grateful for this, I'm blown away by the footage. The Everly Brothers: never to be equalled for their perfect harmonies but so much fun in this too. I'm an Everly fan from England, their music coloured some of my most important years. Saw them whenever they toured UK, how lucky was I? Thank you so much.
Forgot how charming a host Jimmy Dean was, and a good singer, here wonderful as a third Everly Brother. Phil & Don were the gold standard of singing duos. Lovely bit of nostalgia.
I've never seen this video until now. It is a wonderful artifact from an earlier period of American pop culture. Jimmy Dean singing with the Everlys. ... I'm blown away by the sheer talent... I'm pretty sure John and Paul would agree with me.
the trio sounds so good, incredible. Everly Brothers set the standard for harmony to an entire generation, the Beatles knew that early on. And jimmy dean was so talented and a giant personality, a comedian and a sincere guy, even his sausage was pretty good...lol]
I was a kid but i loved them has great singers i would sneak out and dance too there songs i could dance and sing too them neaver short of a fella has i was a stunner and had the figure and legs no not being big headed has had the film star skin,
I love the Everly Brothers and so so long ago I remember I always admired Jimmy Dean. I would fall asleep listening to the Everly Brothers. They harmonize so well, Their music is amazing.
@@williamkeck7378 I agree, but I'm sure that active duty Marines view their Reserves the same way we did in the Navy. We called them The Reverses. They had been to the same Boot Camp that we had and received the same basic training, but they were basically useless on a cruise.
I just now recalled J. Dean's variety show as my parents always watched it. I was in my teens so seldom watched it unless he had guests like The Everly Brothers. Before the British invasion the big heartthrob singers were Everly's, Ricky Nelson & others.
The Everly Brothers have been my favourite singers for 62 years. In 1960 I had the pleasure and excitement of buying all their Cafence singles at one go! This clip shows how brilliant they were. Ian Anderson
Was about 11 when this happened. Since my dad was country (Arizona) we did watch this show. I didn’t really remember this from the time; so thanks for this from that 11yr old in a 60+ body. Lord, I miss the Everly brothers. Miss Jimmy Dean too, more than I expected to. Such a gift.
I'm in the UK and I was a young teenager but I loved the Everly sound, great harmony, in the UK there were a few bother groups and none in my mind matched these two.
Will never forget hearing them live when they brought their early '80s Reunion Tour to the Clark County Fair, just north of Vancouver, Washington. The Beatles and The Hollies learned to sing in harmony by listening to Everly Brothers records.
Their voices in this segment are just incredible. I love the way Don sings All I have to do is dream, he goes for lower descending notes opposed to album version. It’s just the best. I wish I was around to see them at any point in their careers. Love them so much.
I too wish you'd seen them live on stage, I did whenever they toured England... always true to their recorded lyrics (we know the words so don't dare mess with them!) and polished performances, so perfect. Later at the famous Batley Variety Club I saw them just before the split when they weren't happy - but then again, at a reuiion concert in Harrogate, deepest joy! Older, wiser but voices still as finely tuned. As the great Andrew Lloyd Webber said of them - perfect harmony. What better accolade?
same here. I seem to remember that the this Jimmy Dean show was on Friday nights? Also, it just lasted a year or less? I remember him having Homer & Jethro on.
