Absolutely love mine. Happier with it including the dac than I was my Bricasti M3 with built in streamer. The DMPA6 sounds great in both my vintage and reference systems. No regrets I’m glad I wanted awhile to upgrade my Melco server

Hi, very concise review. If I ever decided on this unit or the Master Edition, it will be to serve as music server. Network streaming is synchronous and relies on the quality of the router and so it will be difficult to evaluate the player as network streaming DAC. I wish it is built with a standard size chassis.

when I press and scroll album on A6 touchscreen , returned straight back to the beginning of my music library. This means constantly scrolling from the beginning of my library to listen to each and every artist 😢

Hello. I purchased DMP-A6 after watching this video. I spend time setting it up. I felt that TIDAL and Amazon Music had better sound than Flac, which is a ripped CD.

I have a Master Edition and had the standard DMP-A6. They operate the same but the ME sounded a clear step better during A/B testing. I’m really surprised that so many reviews on this fantastic device and almost none of the ME.

Thanks for the review, did you try plugging in your Sony to the USB3 OTG port? I love my Sony but it’s becoming more and more redundant in my system. It was actually way ahead of it’s time imho, it’s a shame Sony didn’t keep up with the times on this one.

I used USB and UPnP with Sony, Z1-ES is a bit slow but App controls, Menu system and functions are more polished and more user friendly without unnecessary gimmicks, I will be keep using Sony with R2R DACs. Thanks

I checked this review and the review of the Audalytic AH90. I am struggling to make the choice between the two. I'm leaning towards this, for a number of functional reasons. I use speakers with a, let's call it, soft high frequency response, but the do go from about 200Hz to 17khz without a crossover, they are very coherent. I think any Sabre DAC brightness won't be a problem for me. I use roon, and Roon Ready is a big selling point for me. What is you view of the AH90 vs DMP-A6 ? I want to use it as a DAC/Pre into Class D power amps in front of my speakers. Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi. I have literally just got my D6 yesterday and it sounds exactly as you described. Loving it. Question, I have a 2TB memory installed, like you, and have put some of my flac files on it. Do you know if this unit can read the replay gain id tags. I can't seem to get it to do it and volume levels are up and down when on random track play. I have tried using volume normalisation using dbPowerAmp software, and that squashed the volume down on everything, and as a result, the sound is squashed and flat, like playing an mp3. Keep up the good work. At last, a review that covers using flac files and not just streaming. All the best.

I would say not. There is very little room between the memory and the door. The memory does not appear warm at all after playing after an hour. Not sure about writing though.

@@slowestrider4918 Upon looking again, it seems that the cover plate pushes up against the SSD and pulls heat from it. The underside of the unit gets warm from the SSD

Hi. Thanks so much for sharing. I have ordered this and plan to use it as a preamp connected to my power amplifier. Is there any possibility to connect an active sub to this? If not, my power amplifier has a "loop out" function, can this possibly be used to connect a sub?

Sound is going to be very subjective and system dependent but for a DAC A26 is one of GOAT in my opinion.

If it helps.. I had both A26 and DMP-A6 Master Edition and much preferred the M.E DAC in my Exposure/Revel setup..made the A26 sound thin and also has a better soundstage. The A26 was sold shortly after.

I own the normal Eversolo DMP A6 version, connected to my Gustard A26. The sound of the A26 has more meat on the bones and is more refined, and it sounds more three dimensional than the internal dac of the Eversolo. In general it sounds bigger. The Eversolo has a bit wider soundstage though.

Excellent review sir - tq so much. Got my Eversolo after lots of reading up and youtube review and recommendation Glad I got it. Currently plug in my Audiolab CDT6000 optical into DMP. DAC in DMP is awesome. Soom to streaming - not much of a streamer but wanted the DMP to be future ready, plus the optical out allows DAC upgrade. Happy audiophile.

whats the difference in this and me downloading Tidal from google play store to my Android Beelink GT-King mecool streaming box?...then i get the entire tv screen as the monitor instead of this little screen on the eversolo...i feel like all these streaming boxes on the market are a gimic...besides there is also Chromecast although it crashes a lot😂...

Is the Eversolo comparable to the internal streamer in the Gustard R26 or is one an improvement over the other?

Sound is subjective but based on experience with them Eversolo and Matrix offer better implementation and user experience. One thing I can tell you for sure is A6 sounds as good as $3k streamer dacs, it will be very hard to differentiate if you’re blind demoing.

@@Tharbamar thank you, I have Gustard R26 and I do not like the UPnP implementation. I find it clunky and doesn't always connect. This may be app issue but either way, makes for a less than enjoyable experience. Even though sound quality may be on par, purely from a user endpoint I think the A6 is the way I'll go as I want hassle less streaming.

Hi Tharbamar, got 2 questions: you started by stating you connected the Eversolo to the tv by HDMI. However the HDMI port is only for audio/DSD, correct? How come the tv is connected in this regard? Second, did you tried the Bluetooth? Does it connect to bt headphones? Thanks!

Curious, why do you have iso-pucks under the A6, It's solid state? Vibration of the unit has no impact like on speakers, turntables, and tube amps.

One question...when you formatted the NVME drive on your PC, did you assign a Drive letter to it? (i.e: C:, or D:, or E:, etc.) I have formatting software named AOMEI Partition Assistant on my PC and when formatting it provides the option to include a drive letter or not. With mine I chose not to include a drive letter and prey that when I insert it into EverSolo it will work. What was your experience?

Assigning a drive letter when you format it on the PC will only be relevant when it's connected to the PC. When you put it in the Eversolo it won't make any difference.

I just have 2 questions if I may: 1) I intend to buy the SMSL DO400 DAC which you reviewed recently, would it be better to plug in the Eversolo via the SMSL DAC or to use its internal DAC? The issue is I only have 1set of XLR inputs into my integrated amp which means if I were to plug in the Eversolo separately to my amp it will have to be RCA. 2) Not sure whether you might know the answer to this question, apparently there is a Master Edition to the DMP-A6, will it be worth it to pay that premium over the standard version and what are the differences in sound quality?

You can use passive XLR selector if you want to connect two of them, master edition improved the clocking and come with better op-amps.

Great review…. I finally get to hear an unbiased review or a review from a person who took the time to put to use and evaluate all of its feature set and highlights the good and the not so good based strictly on performance. Overall I get the picture of an impressive streamer/DAC with some room for improvement but nevertheless a great package for the price. I bought the basic unit and have been using it connected through the balanced XLR output to a Lake People G108 HP amp and connected through the single ended RCA outputs to a NAD M10v2 integrated and streaming amp. I’m very happy so far with the sound quality. The Streaming/DAC Eversolo and Lake People G108 HP amp in particular is a fantastic sounding combo for the price. I’m so pleased.

And another question please. Is worthy to add a Gustard A26 used as a DAC between the DMP-A6 and an integrated amplifier? The DMP-A6 only as a streamer connected from the USB out to a Gustard A26. This can improve the quality sound? Or the DMP-A6 DAC is at the Gustard A26 level? Thank you!

Personally I wouldn’t use it that way because you can fine tune A6 to the way you like it.

@Tharbamar Ok, for clarification, you are saying that it is true, they DO NOT move in relation to the highs and lows to the music playing, such as they do on your Accuphase Integrated amp? If that is true, it’s not a deal breaker obviously, but why put a “gimmick” of VU meters on a device that have ZERO relation to the music signal at all. They should have left those off if indeed they actually do not represent the music signal at all. Thanks, Tharbamar

They do move like VU meters in a hifi unit, but there is a bit of a lag when they move to the beat, so I leave j them off for that reason. It is a little annoying if you sit and watch them.

I am going to keep using Z1ES with external DAC, no SenseMe or Gain level match on A6 at this point but I like to put it this way in sound, Sony is accurate, Eversolo is exciting, thanks

You've been nice in the past to reply to a question of mine on RU-vid and I'd really appreciate getting your opinion on this question. I have had the Sony HAP-Z1ES for a few years and really like it. Is the sound quality of the Eversolo (on its own, no external dac) as good as that of the Sony? In what ways are they different? Resolution, clarity, warmth, tone, soundstage, etc.? @@davidalza5546 It's comparable in sound but Sony is more transparent and at high SPL above 90db Sony is quieter in overall noise floor more enjoyable probably due to better power supply inside HAP-Z1ES. A6 is about 6-8db louder in general, the rest is system dependent and personal preference. I'm still using Sony everyday.

@Tharbamar Hi Tharbamar, Thank you for your reply. If you are still using the Sony HAP-Z1ES as your primary source, I must have misunderstood your earlier comment. You seemed to suggest that you were using the Eversolo DMP-A6 as your primary source now and the Sony only when you were adding an external dac. So, that's not the case? If the Eversolo is not a clear upgrade over the Sony, I think I'll keep the Sony for now. It's interesting, because it is an "old" dac, I think it was released around 2014, so it's surprising that it hasn't been overtaken by new servers/dacs. @@davidalza5546 Sorry for confusion, my system is always changing not many products stay-in for long time. Sony was way ahead of everyone, DMP-A6 is a decent upgrade if you like the sound but not going to be night and day improvement but it play 6-8db louder with slightly forward sound than Sony. Thanks

Great review. Personally: Con, a bit buggy and you can wait for another 6 months or more for them to fix the bugs. Pros, good sound quality and feature rich.

Hello love the information on the EverSolo DMP-A6. I see on the back of DMP-A6 you had hooked it up using a USB C Cable is that a usb a to usb c or usb c to usb c cable and can you put up a link for that cable. Can you do some more information about the DMP-A6. Thanks B Strong

Do you think that, as a pure music server working from its internal SSD, the DMP-6 would improve on the sound of FLAC files currently stored on my laptop and played using a music app (such as AIMP)? I've asked several reviewers this question but not so far received a clear answer. Hoping you can remedy that Tharbamar!

Yes It should improve over streaming, I did similar set up as you're asking but with Sony Music Server Internal SSD which I mentioned it in this video. Thanks
