This week we discuss Hüsker Dü from Minneapolis, MN. Yet another band who influenced countless other, more successful bands. Hüsker Dü’s evolution is profound-they started as lightning-speed hardcore punk, ventured into noisy psychedelia, then finally settled on poppy indie rock. They’re good, go listen.

Husker Du are one of the most important bands from the 80's who virtually created Alternative Rock. I love all their records. And you're both dead wrong about Warehouse, Songs and Stories. It was a great record to go out on.

I was shocked to see this video and all the others have so little views. Your podcast is so unbelievably good. Such a good concept and your guys chemistry is bonkers. I’m sure the videos will get the viewership they deserve. I’m mostly listening on Spotify. Love your guys take on music. You guys should do the BEATLES. That’d be hefty. Or Nickleback for an honest take on one of rocks most hated bands.
@EveryAlbumEver
@EveryAlbumEver 3 года назад
That's very kind, thank you very much. We're not doing the Beatles until we hit a certain amount of Patreon subscribers (hint: it's going to take a WHILE). Nickelback would be hilarious. I'm considering it for that fact alone.

@@EveryAlbumEver That’s because 99.9% of people who are searching for a band they like and happen upon the worst music podcast out there can’t even make through an entire episode of their inane uninformed commentary.

Warehouse is their best collection of songs. "Flexible Flyer" is the best song on Flip Your Wig. It's fair to say I don't agree with the boys here. :-) But a great episode nonetheless.

Land Speed Record was my 1st album of theirs; I had it on vinyl and was SO confused the first time I listened to it on my crappy speakers back in the day. But as the years have gone by, I've become a drummer myself, played shows and written music with others, and now... Land Speed Record is incredible to me. Knowing the story of their goal with that album (attempting a Guinness world record for number of songs under 28 minutes) and having played the same stage it was recorded on (7th Street Entry in Minneapolis), I've teared up to it. Just the fuckin balls on those dudes. I still like Zen Arcade and New Day more but LSR is full on museum level art.
@Ballonpoire39
@Ballonpoire39 2 года назад
Grant’s drumming is just so hypotonic on specifically on LSR. It’s inexplicable the way that albums makes you feel. I agree it is museum level art. Best band of all time, in my humble opinion. NDR is my favourite

Hilarious that crap like Baby Song and Skin a Cat get chatted about, yet stone cold genius like Celebrated Summer and Powerline (Books About UFOs too) get overlooked. Also: a music reviewer that aint never heard of Big Thief.. wtf !?!

The sledding in 'Flexible Flyer' is a metaphor for innocence in the face of someone dying young (that's what I perceive it to be anyway). I love 'Flip Your Wig' and agree with Bob Mould that it was their best album.

the 2 fold combo of "too far down" into "hardly getting over it" IS the best 1, 2 of an album sequence, and they are the most least likely "Husker Du" songs ever. With the exception of "Crystal" which just doesn't fit, this album is THE best. Then you get Bob solo, and then Sugar and it all makes sense. I love Grant, I own Nova Mob, I think "2341" is a great song, but Bob changes (lol) on this album, and it is amazing!
