Every Apple Watch ULTRA Band! Trail Loop, Alpine Loop, and Ocean Band...Compared! 

$100 for a rubber band is fricken robbery. And i am a huge apple dude.

I was just in the store trying out the Ultra and was very surprised at how satisfying the alpine loop was to use. It quickly became my favorite of the three bands.

Trail loop in gray/ black with that bit of orange at the end wins 😊

The alpine loop is kind of an adjustment to get used to, but it is definitely more secure than the trail loop. Which is why I chose it! The green alpine loop is so pretty

I am getting the Apple Watch Ultra, but not until early November. I got the Orange Alpine Loop, I think it looks good with the orange Action Button.

Tried the Alpine loop and found it the least comfortable band I’ve experienced. Love the orange so ordered the Nomad sports band to satisfy that craving. I ended up with the yellow Ocean band. Think it looks best. Super secure. Very comfortable. Will also give props to the braided Product Red loop band on the Ultra. Really nice combination!

I have tried the gray and orange trail loop and I absolutely loved it. I also picked up the green alpine loop for everyday wear and then I got the midnight ocean band to use at the gym. So far the alpine loop has been the most comfortable. Honestly, I’m very impressed with all of these bands.

I have the Alpine loop strap, looks very good but a huge issue is when u take it off the titanium part of the strap hits the watch itself which can dent it. Thats a huge issue imo.

I bought my Ultra with the White Ocean Band which I love!! Very comfortable and great looking band. Today after a month wait, my Yellow/Beige Trail loop delivered. I will say this Trail Loop band is SO comfortable and soft with that usual Apple Quality. LOVE the 2 bands, but have no desire for the Alpine Loop.

I have the alpine because it was in stock. My first choice was the trail loop. I do like the alpine band and it is unique. I just like the exact fit you can get with the sport/trail loop bands.

How does the alpine loop feel when wet? It it secure enough for swimming? I don't like the look of the ocean loop and I'm hoping the alpine loop will be good enough for swimming and running.

I absolutely love dive watches. It’s my favorite kind of watch. So naturally the ocean band was my favorite off of initial impressions. It reminded me of the Seiko silicone dive straps. When I purchased the Ultra, however, the Apple store near me only had the green alpine loop combo available. I’m actually glad that’s the one I purchased because I quickly grew to love it. Eventually did buy the yellow ocean band, but ended up not liking it as much as the alpine surprisingly. I have large wrists and the ocean band is a bit short. Tried out the extension band, but didn’t realize just how long it actually was - it was comically long. I ended up returning it. Hoping to try the trail loop next, but I feel like I’m pretty settled with the alpine as my favorite.

I love my alpine loop! I’m actually shocked by how great it is. I got lucky and managed to get a trail loop on Thursday and the first 24 to 36 hours were great and it was my favorite band to date in that time. But over the last day or so it certainly has not been at all. Not sure why but it’s causing a fair amount of pain through my lower arm and wrist. I don’t keep it tight by any means. But for whatever reason after a couple days of use it’s very painful and uncomfortable. It almost feels like it fits my arm too well even with it being looser. Feels almost as if it’s constantly hitting a pressure point.

Got the alpine first. The way I used it it feels like it’ll wear out fast, plus cinching on the wrist feels like it is doing unnecessary wear on the band. Then I got the ocean- very pleased. Easy to dry after workouts and great fit. I don’t see myself switching back to alpine.

Great video and info, this was a very helpful one. I got ultra with the navy ocean band and it’s killer, we do a lot of water sports and it’s very comfortable and seems like it’s locked on. Titanium is great for hardware, however I do have green alpine loop on the way and look forward to trying that one. Looks sweet too! After this video I voted against the trail loop as well I’m over Velcro. Ocean band is very comfortable too. The ultra is my first Apple Watch and well it’s growing on me, I’m more old fashioned with my watches but this checks all the boxes. Battery is lasting me 2 almost 3 days, nice. The ultra is for the old non believers that beat on watches, the crystal screen and titanium body was a big seller for me.

Question about the alpine loop band and size. My wrist is the same size as yours. Do you feel the medium is the right size for you or do you think the large is a better fit?

I noticed fabric bands were very dirty in Apple store. I have black ocean it feels most premium and does not get dirty looking, holds no moisture. $ 99 for trail and alpine loop are expensive for what they are but like them too, if you can find large size.

I ordered mine with the black/gray trail loop mostly for the looks and of the resemblance to the sport loop which it’s my favorite band.

G loop damaged my antenna band on Ultra due to it banging against when taking it off. I now have Ocean

I went with the trail loop for mine since it seemed to be the safest bet as a hiker/runner. I love the look of the alpine loop though and definitely would have fine with that if I wasn’t hesitant about how it would feel and if it would be functional for me. I’ll probably end up buying a non-apple made alpine loop once I get my hands on my watch in a few weeks

Dude you answered all of my questions without me having to make a trip to the store. I was considering the sport band you shared in comparison to the super back ordered trail band. I may just pickup the sport band while I wait for trail bands to come available. Mine came with the alpine starlight which is ok

Ocean. While I actually scuba dive, I really do like the looks of the dark midnight ocean band the best it’s also a quick rinse, rather than really having to really wash the thing like the sweaty nylon ones. No need to let it dry.

My ultra with trail loop delivers mid-October. Can’t wait!

I got the ocean yellow band kinda love it wasn’t crazy about the alpine , the ocean band is so comfortable i don’t ever have to adjust it .

The Alpine loop was the first band I tried but I returned it for the Ocean Band which I liked a lot more. However, today I was able to find the trail loop in stock at my local Apple Store and it is hands down my favorite of the three. In fact, it is so comfortable on my wrist that I ended up ordering another one in a different colorway. It makes the Apple Watch ultra feel like a feather on my wrist compared to the other bands. I can’t recommend it enough.

I bought the large one, is it suitable for everyone? I want to know before I open the box

I got the ocean band for mine, I just like the dark blue color. But I was really debating on whether to get that or the alpine band, really like that bright orange that stands out. Might buy that one anyways and swap them back and forth.

I went with Alpine loop for aesthetics and security. I’m don’t adjust my watch band much, so the alpine works for me.

I ordered the ocean midnight band with my Ultra, as I tend to shower/swim with my watch . However I’ve ordered and received a green alpine loop, which I really like and will test run it in the shower/pool, to see how quickly it drys up.

The Alpine loop is super comfortable, if I get one it will be with that one.

Great review! I bought the black trail loop and initially hooked up the watch the same way as you did. But I saw a couple of others hooked it the opposite way which might make more sense for fastening. Which is the correct way then?

I went with the Orange Alpine Loop. I sleep, eat, work and take a shower. Use elevator at work and sometimes walk to my apartment. Very nice band for an extreme sport smartwatch ! 🧡

Alpine loop happens to be the best band that could work with an ultra, price and trust worthy👌🏼

I got the Alpine loop as it was in stock and looks the best in the starlight color but I also ordered the trail loop for my runs and being more easily adjustable!

My ultra with the black trail loop comes in 11 hours 🔥 woke up to an email saying there’s been an update to my order and saw I was bumped up from the initial 20-27 October date to next day which is amazing

I have the yellow ocean loop, the green alpine looks good but £100! Seems a bit steep even for Apple.

What size wrist do you have, and what size alpine loop did you buy????

I like the easy of use of the trail loop but on other videos ppl said that they believe it will fall off easily I don’t know what to do :(.

I brought the ocean band because when I’m on a photography trip I can sweat and get grubby from dust, a material strap made no sense to me.

The trail loop is beyond sold out everywhere.

Ocean band, no question. Midnight blue. I think it looks the best. I also scuba dive and while this probably won’t be my primary for that, I just love the fact that I could and may even use this for scuba diving. I also am a hunter and so regularly I am more than wrist deep up in a deer to eviscerate it. So sweat, blood and guts ruled out getting one of the nylon bands. Whether I am hunting, diving, or working out, I really don’t want all that salt, blood, sweat adhering to the nylon band so that I have to wash it all the time. The Ocean band allows for a quick rinse at most. Extra weight of the Ocean? Please, I was wearing my Mudmaster before this Ultra! 😂

I have alpine love it

I have a feeling people to going to be dinging their watches and screens when they take off the Alpine band. The titanium buckle goes flying into the Watch when you take it off

Was waiting for this review. I swim twice a week in a pool (and in the summer in the Mediterranean Sea) and do other gym and outdoor related exercises like cycling, running, weights, elliptical and so on. I ended up going with the Alpine Loop. Hopefully it holds up to all the abuse. So far so good :)

I ordered the trail loop. It is absolutely comfortable but I exchanged it for the ocean band for my strength training because I am concerned that having a fabric loop, such as the Alpine and / or Trail loop, will develop a smell over time due to the sweat and body oils. It seems inevitable. I am going to buy the trail loop for casual wear soon though because it is way for comfortable, casually, than the ocean band.

I think I will buy mine with the Alpine loop. My reasoning is that that is the most unique band. Then I will buy a generic sports loop for when I want a micro adjustable strap due to the HR sensor.

Is it really a S/M trail loop and not the M/L version? Because you say you have a 185mm wrist but the smaller band reaches just to 180mm according to apple and it looks like there is even more room to play with. I am confused which size to take.

I've bought my Watch Ultra with the midnight Ocean band. I wanted to have also the Trail Loop and I've bought it too. But the Ocean Band is way better and it is the one I wear more often with my Watch Ultra. lately, and on top of that, I did purchase the Nomad Sport Band in orange (I love orange colour). It looks awesome but I have to try to swim long distance with it to try it in tough environment. The Trail Loop is good but too light for my taste (even though it is more comfortable to wear in hot countries.) But I still prefer the ruggedness of the Ocean Band... Hopefully the Nomad Band will be a serious contender to the Ocean Band...

How wide is the sport loop vs the trail?

This thumbnail is very pleasing to my OCD-ness. 😍 I've been over thinking the band thing for triathletes. I think the trail band is the way to go but also, I can't guarantee that it won't end up at the bottom of a lake after a chaotic swim start. 😬 Thanks for making this one Des!

Careful when taking the alphine loop off if you hit it with the watch it will scratch

With those fabric loops getting wet, how do you wash them cause I hated the whoop because the band started to smell sour even when I would wash and soap in soap

I might be weird, but I love the milanese loop with my ultra. It's not sporty and might be pretentious but I don't care, lol. It's very comfortable to me.

I like the looks of the Alpine band but I can see problem already. Every time you take the watch off, the g hook thing will hit the watch case. I can hear it in your video when you pull on the strap to loosen it. I dunno if the hook will eventually scratch up that part of the watch case

Actually love the look of the Ocean so I bought all 3 colors. I also got the Alpine since the orange is fire. So I'm loving the ridges of these bands. The trail may be more comfortable but it kind of cheapens the look of the Ultra in my opinion. Feel like I need a fanny pack to go along with it or something

I reckon your actually a large strap - hear me out here… alpine the clasp would ride further up, not scratching your keyboard.. trail loop it’s difficult for you to get it off. Large would give a bigger opening to make it easier. So yeah, large!

I went with the Ocean Band. I never had a fabric band before, but I was interested in the Trail Loop. Sadly it seems to not be available in any Apple Store in Germany yet, so I couldn't try it out. But there were Alpine Loops to try and they felt absolutely awful. I don't know if it is just that I don't like fabric bands, or it's something about the Alpine Loop itself, but it just felt cheap and insecure. Plus the hook is very awkward to insert into the latches. I was initially very sceptical of the Ocean Band, but trying it out it is SOO comfortable, I was totally not expecting that. So I have the white Ocean Band for now, but I'll definitely try on the Trail Loop also, once it becomes available, even if just to figure out if I don't like fabric bands in general, or if it is just something about the Alpine Loop.

Just be carful with the alpine loop guys. The titanium G can absolutely scratch the titanium body. Just one thing I’ve noticed
