About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

I love how the wife left with him, literally some of us don't want to be there either. My family is trying to plan a surprise baby shower & I need to be involved so there isn't any silly games or cliché decorations. No offense to any other person who does want those things. My fourth baby was just born, and my "sprinkle" included zero games! It was just women, and really relaxed and chill. We ate fruit and mixed our own mocktails she chatted. It was so nice.

So I married into a Mexican American family and they have most legit fun baby showers. Everyone is there: men, women, kids, neighbors, friends of the in-laws that I never met nor will ever see again. All together, eating and drinking and then about 4 hours in, the tequila or some such thing comes out. They are like 8-10 hour long parties. Epic.

I remember being a kid at someone’s shower and seeing the diapers with “poop” and feeling completely grossed out. That was in the 80’s. I didn’t think they still did that. 😅

My moms group does three baby shower boxes for subsequent babies! The top box is a spiritual bouquet, where we write down prayers or sacrifices we are making for the family. The second box is the baby box for things like baby clothes, and the third box is stuff for mom. There are things like a new robe, DoorDash gift cards, postpartum herbal supplements, snacks for labor and so on. I LOVE doing this. The party is usually more relaxed and there are no goofy games or anything. We went to a co-Ed shower (which I usually hate) where it was Oktoberfest themed and the games were all German games. It was so much fun that my husband even said he had a good time. And the parents took the boxes home and opened them there so we didn’t have to do the normal baby shower type things.

When I was pregnant with my first, my MIL insisted that I needed 4 showers - one thrown by my family, one from his family, one from work, and one from our church. This is something I had never heard of before and was not interested in. My work didn’t even offer and I was leaving for good before baby was born anyway. I would not expect anything. So my family threw me one at our church and invited MIL to help but she didn't want to. Later we were invited to "dinner" at his grandparents only to have to cancel due to conflict of schedules and then found out MIL had put together an unwanted surprise party and was upset we weren't coming because everyone was there with food and gifts. He was like well we told you no so we would have walked out anyway. 😅 We have a better relationship with her now but there were some rocky times.

When I was pregnant the 1st time. My mother in law got upset that a friend threw a shower. So I had 2 with hardly any guests and crapy useless gifts. We moved to be closer to my family and mom said no shower. For the amount of money for food decor etc. We went shopping and got me what I wanted. So much easier!!! And more fun

Just depends. Our shower turned meet n greet was bad because my in laws were being difficult (to put it nicely). The ones where my cousins had theirs with everyone they knew (men and children were welcome) were awesome.

This is too funny! I recently organized a baby shower- and I think I did a pretty good job! It was just a laid back tea (with cake and chocolates). We had real flowers for decorations and tea light lamps. Instead of cards we had a sentimental story book that everyone signed and I had the grandma write a special note in. There weren't any balloons or games (which is fine if that's your thing!), and all men that wanted to be there were present as well (the dad, and some uncles).

Hilarious. How about a Dad’s baby shower. It’s pretty much everything without the football game. Old school lawn darts. Corn hole/bags, darts, horseshoes, ax throwing, liquor and beer tasting, and dizzy versions of all the games.
