once in day care, i had to do that EXACT stress postion displayed. arms out, standing on one leg...only i had to balance several books on each hand. this also took place with the lights off as it was nap time and everyone else got to sleep while i was crying in the corner being yelled at by the care takers to keep my leg up and stop switching legs to stand on. i wasn't even 5 years old and I dont even remember what i did.
The best way to sum up humanity's attempt at goodness and underlying contradiction at action is to say that there isn't a strict ban on torture, but _on some torture methods_

@@PlutoGodPlays Mostly in Afrikaans schools I reckon. Things like standing against the wall with your legs bent at 90* and other stuff designed to induce muscular pain. This is fading out of use but it's still used as a way to get around corporal punishment rules.
I accidently did something like waterboarding myself once in the shower. I had a washcloth over my face and the shower hit my face. Yeah, you do feel like you are drowning. Not fun. For the record, I have almost drown a couple of times. Yeah, scared the crap out of me.

torture in general is banned, just that what makes torture unique to say... corporal punishement, mental annoyances, or regular medical activities like amputation, is very subjective and blurry, so in theory, torture CAN be legal, just not the kind of torture yo'd excpect...

9:23 so my "parents" tortured me my whole childhood? not surprised tbh. I have autism and ADD, they always saw my meltdowns as me disbehaving, I was punished for not being able to handle overstimulation caused by them. I am looking into getting a proper PTSD diagnosis now along with my agoraphobia, anxiety, clinical depression and paranoia.

His most infamous prank was when he staged the kidnapping of two of his friends (who were completely oblivious to the prank), had them tied to chairs, one also being gagged, and then pretended to execute the gagged one in front of the other (I believe the one that was ‘executed’ was also blindfolded). The friend witnessing the ‘execution’ clearly wasn’t in on the joke with how red-faced and panicked he got as he cried, clearly believing that he had been kidnapped and just watched his friend be executed in front of his very eyes. TLDR: loser who harassed people as pranks and pretended to execute a friend’s friend in front of them after kidnapping them both as a ‘joke’.
Overstimulating as a torture methods 😂 as a autistic individual who is constantly overstimulated and told it isn’t a big deal or I’m being dramatic. I’m so aware of how bad this is but find myself laughing how ironic this feels Having overstimulation called torture.
Re: the force feeding. Can’t speak for other countries, but in the UK, suffragettes in prison who went on hunger strikes were force fed via a tube down the throat. Just my opinion, but seems to me that if women went through THAT to get me the right to vote, to then NOT vote seems incredibly… ungrateful.
yes the same happened in the united states! my professor said that force feeding is still legal in prisons if inmates go on hunger strikes which is awful
Honestly I'm kind of torn on the force feeding one. On the one hand yes it is torture. On the other hand when someone wastes away it's very easy for someone to say "it wasn't a hunger strike they're starving people to death viva la revolution." Also while this doesn't make it any less messed up a lot of those suffragettes were under psychiatric holds and you need to be recognized compus mentus to be recognized as on a hunger strike.

As someone who suffers from overstimulation on a daily basis (I’m autistic) I’m somewhat grateful to learn that it’s a type of t0rture. It often gets downplayed and joked about, so finding out that I’m not over reacting when I say it’s bad is comforting.
I remember back in the early 2000s there was this American commentator who said that torture against the enemy is justified as he defended Guatamo Bay, he chained his views once he tried waterboarding for only half a second

When I was kid, teachers used to punish us with stress positions. They would make us hold our hands straight over our heads until it hurt. Like a standing super man pose. If we tried to hold our own hands we'd be hit or forced to kneel down on bottle caps.....

Even doing something wrong like being too loud, they would make you standing behind a door with your arm up as high as you can get and you can’t move, if you do they add an extra 5 minutes, and I mean any movement, your hands touch the wall, 5 minutes, your arms bend a bit, 5 minutes, you exhale a bit too long, 5 minutes, that shit hurt, I spent an hour a one day standing behind the door, watching every speckle on the wall in pain, after the time was up my arms would be shaking, and I was 8 at the time.
