@@vidosodel5075Exactly dude! It's certainly not because they needed a job to support their family and children acting as characters in a live action ADAPTED anime
@@LGFProduções yeah, there's a lot of people that need job, let's make a live action where goku is a fat american, or piccolo a white person, let's turn naruto into a 7 feet black and bald guy with beard and a tatton LOL. U argument is pathetic. But at least in some adptation there's no problem to change the color of a character. But in a lot of cases the race of character is part of who he is
@@glauberbispo8922 changing the colors of these one piece characters literally changes nothing about the storyline ☠️ +Yassop is black so there's only like 2 blackwashed characters, you act like they made Luffy black or asian, cut the bs
@@jonevarty2205 I guess there is one Sumo Wrestler that could play Jimbei and he one acted in a John Wick film as an assassin. His name is Yama and he’s a sumo champion so I hope he gets the role
My main criticism with the costume design is some of the wigs are too light and fake looking. Especially Nojiko. I hope they give Vivi a darker shade of dyed blue hair
@@alexk7880 Let's be fair, nobody cares about that cause it doesn't change anything in the story, race in One Piece is more about other species other than humans, and there's literally a whole arc about racism so, I don't think, any real One Piece fans, are complaining about it 👍🏻
god I like how they even got characters and posters for all the guys who *didn't* show up in the show or show up later. still bummed we didn't get to see jango but hey, hes here at some extent in the setting
@@Just_DazeI think a lot of people just dislike the goofy and cartoony nature of One Piece, which I understand is literally the art style, but I personally think the live action is slightly more serious and darker than the original show, which a lot of people like.
there are few Boa cosplayers that nailed her looks and charm but i donno any actresses with body and face that would fit the most beautiful title that choice is going to be hard
Everything in the show they did really well except for one character, Nojiko. That’s the only character I was upset with. Her actor still did a really good job with the character but it just wasn’t right because it feels like a completely different character
Some of the comparison pictures are really weird. Like why show Yasopp how he first appeared with his afro, when his design in the LA is clearly modelled after his current look with the dreadlocks?
yasopp never had afro lol he is a white character with light 3b hair i dont know if you guys are being sarcastic or not about the yasopp not being white thing
I don't care what other people say. I know live action is still in it's development stage, there are things to improve and it has so many potentials. For me, even though other characters is way off to the anime counterpart, it's still the best adaptation Netflix has to offer. They really did justice making one piece movie.
@@gregorturner9421 That was due to budget. I don't want to even know how much of the SFX budget would've had to go to that scene alone with him and Zoro x.x
@@kurtWenvelope at 2.24 there's a tall dark blueish, could be purple, haired kid running past a young Smoker, not Buggy, btw, I believe this could be Moria A couple seconds later you see young Buggy center frame for a second while people are running past him And early on. During the start of Garp's speech, when they show young Mihawk, in the background is a yellow haired kid, his clothes kinda look like Smoker's, but his hair is completely different. Pretty sure this is Doflamingo And the guy standing next to Dragon, I don't think that's Bogard, he seems way too tan to be the same actor. Could be that that's actually Crocodile
I think the cast, costume design and make up in this Netflix live action almost perfect. Also your attention about the character show up in Netflix live action is amazing !
Why would Oda be dumb enough to have Nojiko not discovering or seeing Nami slowly accumulating the 100 mil berry over the years, right at their mom's grave? Holding a spade digging maybe? First spitting at Nami, later on saying 'mom n I have always been proud of you.' Even the actress looked really bichy n nit convincing.
The only castings that I don't like: -Benn Beckman : The actor looks like "we got Benn Beckman at home" -Makino: The actress looks too old to play her while Makino looks younger in original -Nojiko: The wig doesn't suit the actress pretty well -That one henchman from Arlong that looks like Donatella Versace (Just Google her if you don't know). Yeah, fishmen is a race but somehow it looks uncanny valley. Unexpected casting: -They make Sham as a girl and she's cute Most Perfect casting: -Sanji: The actor really takes his role seriously even learning martial arts and also learn how to cook even in Sanji's clothes -Mihawk: I thought Zoro's actor is the hottest but turns out, I was wrong. Mihawk with British accent is just *Chef's Kiss* and he kinda remind me of Tom Ellis' Lucifer. -Garp: Didn't expect to see Garp would be introduced too early and the guy who play as him looks like Giga Chad but why is Garp and Luffy have different races tho? -Zeff: The guy really looks like Zeff in the original but too bad he and Sanji have lack of chemistry in Netflix and their farewell feels off since they skip Don Krieg to Arlong immediately.
The truth is, in the end there’s not many ppl who would’ve auditioned for the role of Benn. You have to get real lucky like how they did with Yasopp, so not every minor character will get that wizardry black magic casting straight out of the panels like how they did with Zeff and Mihawk. The only times they can be greedy with taking looks into account are when casting MAIN characters (since we’ll be looking at them the most) TLDR: the more popular the character is the more likely they’d have enough auditions to pick the best acting, best looking actor who also understands the character
@baman7041 I mean, I get what you're trying to say, but three things about Beckman are stated about him in the manga: 1) That he is very successful among women, being quite handsome (I mean, they weren't supposed to pick the perfect Beckman but the dude in the LA...just...no) 2) That he is probably the most intelligent person in the One Piece Realm. 3) that in combative power, he rivals Shanks (someone that has King's Haki). Can you imagine the guy that portrays him as having even just one of these qualities? Lmao 🤣 I love the show, I just hope they'll recast him in the future
This is literally the only live action where the producers paid attention to the source material. I never really liked One Piece, but I'm watching the series and so far I'm loving it. No random race swaps, actors that actually look like the characters, even the most bizarre ones... never expected something like this coming from Netflix. Disney has some homework to do.
@@trico2319 also the studio produced cowboy bebop and screwed that up. Said they learnt their lesson from that steaming pile and allowed Oda creative control and found a cast and crew who loved the source material. In all the behind the scenes you can see the good times that all had making this, with even the anime voice actors being in on the action. this level of respect for the manga/anime shone through making it such an outstanding success. plus its step away from woke ideals with having strong male role models. a young female character who tells it as it is in the difference between men and women and boys and girls and having a strong female character not be afraid to ask a make for help when all appears lost instead of going boss bi*ch. and that the world is not black and white but shades of grey. (as much as arlop is a monster when you know why its kind of understandable why he is the way he is.) and thats were OP shines. Its amazing storytelling, sure its zany and wacky, but damn some of the back stories will have you in tears, i'm not sure many people didn't tear up at namis' plea.
@@joenick4346it's not that big of a deal honestly. U only see her for one episode and never see her again. I'm sure it'll be fine😭 u can't expect everything to be perfect
I only have one thing to criticize, and that's how the majority of the uniforms/clothing are squeaky clean. Like I get it that the marine uniforms must be more clean and the higher the rank, the cleaner, but the remaining is a miss for me
It's actually incredible to see how similar the live action cast looks to the Manga drawings, like they have been plucked off the page and onto the big screen. Amazing!
I never watched One Piece, I hated the drawing style and the animation. But the live action is amazing and it really made me like this universe more ! ^^
I understand cause it's an old style animation but the anime ver is rlly great! I particularly felt Luffy is much more enjoyable to watch in anime ver. But to each their own ig
Personally the thing with One Piece is, that is such a nice and romantic novel, you forget you are watching an anime or reading manga, you forget the drawing style and weird voices, you just, feel and enjoy every little part of their world. The bad drawing or whatever, it doesn't matter sh1t haha
Bruh i promise you when i say that... One piece being goofy IS THE PINNACLE OF ONE PIECE. Also like just get through it, like watch the remastered/re animated version's instead if you hate it that much plus the re mastered version goes up to where the animation is good aka ennies lobby. SO GO DO IT!!!
I never noticed how diverse in terms of skin colour the One Piece characters are. I think it's a nice message by Oda that he doesn't much distinguish people by their skin tone like other manga / anime do.
@@alexk7880 I think they can but it costs a lot of money for special effects. And as the budget is not unlimited, the money put there would be less money for Buggy for example. Sometimes you have to make choices.
@@youtpfpm6097 then maybe they can add him be more of a chef that didn't fight but was there with arlong as he played an important part to apologizing later to nami for the abuse of him being part of what arlong did to her as a kid
@@alexk7880 The change in personality will thus be less brutal. Because going from a character wanting to kill the protagonists to a character weak enough to be shot down by Charlos will be more acceptable. If his character reappears. Others have already fallen by the wayside.
@youtpfpm6097 he isn't made of rubber or used any means of haki as he was focused on more on saving his friend that he didn't see the celestial dragon pull out a gun on him
I mean, the mandatory race and gender swaps are still there, but for the most part, I'd say they did their job pretty well. We'll see how the series goes after a season or two more. After what happened to Witcher after Season 1, I don't really trust "a series" until I've seen it all play out. Season 1 was pretty good. Now, let's see what's next.
Makino, Nojiko, Kuina, Kuina's father, Garp and all the Fishmen are terribly cast, all things said and done. Garp especially looks nothing like the insane grandfather figure, and looks more like a pantomime marine villain. Edit: VFX for the Fishmen* are terrible
Wait a dang minute, they couldn't make long nose for Usopp but they made it for Foxy? What the hell? Also I don't know why but Shanks and his crew looks pretty random to me. You know, like bunch of totally random dudes and not world class pirats. Lucky Ro even look like some random fat guy in cheap cosplay. But most of things are pretty accurate, good even I dare say.
Why doesn't Netflix use more Indian actors, if someone is a little darker they immediately make him black.... sad... I'm on episode 600 of the anime and I wanted to see the new version but I don't think I'll be tempted..
