I like the Sonic 1 Special Stages, I like the Blue Spheres, the U.F.O's from CD are alright... but i despise the half pipe with a burning passion. They're horrible, you have to memorize the pattern of the whole special stage, because there might be a bomb right in a turn!! Super fun and fair special stage :D... Also, you need to move away from a bomb EARLY since Tails has a delay in his movement when following you, he'll get hit if you dodge the bomb late. Also, i think Sonic 4 Episode 2 IMPROVED the half pipe, just doesn't seem as unfair or memorization heavy as before.
Mighty actually has his Knuckles Chaotix abilities which have zero use in Final Zone lmao. Also there is another Ray that has an original sprite mod before mania.
I genuinely loved the sonic 1 special stage. Sonic 2:its okay. Sonic 3:its hurting my brain and soul on an irregular basis. Sonic 1's special stage is the only that i can get through without struggle
i like the sonic 1 final boss because it really makes sense, Robotnik wasn't expecting to run into someone like Sonic and had to throw something together to stop him at the last minute. He saw how much he struggled with water so he threw him back into an area full of water to stop him. After that failed he probably repurposed a room that was used for testing the presses since they also seem to be a problem for Sonic. Trap him in a room and crush him to death, throw in a powerful zapper for good measure, surely he can't survive something like that!
Absolutely! Sonic 2 and Sonic CD show how Robotnik has started to develop more targeted anti-hedgehog technology after being forced to recognize Sonic as a legitimate threat to his plans.
The Rouge spritework is nice as hell. I'd like to see her changed up to make her different from Knuckles-but-with-extra-moves though. Keep her glide, remove her climb, give her a kick-off of enemies for extra height? Would change her playstyle up a bit, make it a bit more about planning and finesse rather than Knuckles' brute force "well I'll just climb up slowly" strategy, which fits their respective skill-and-mind-sets.
I prefer blue spheres more than the half pipe stages because tails and there's almost always a bomb around the corner or rings where you can't see them
@@zotken8925 In terms of average music quality, I'd give it to Sonic 2 for sure. But both OSTs have some stand-out tracks that make it hard to pick favorites.
okay in retrospect me spending hours learning them probably was awful but now that I have them memorized its fun so I am going to ignore the flaws in my argument and continue pushing it
Not to mention the halfpipe design is way too overused in the series. It was cool the first time they did it, and sucks damn near every other time its used again.

"Sonic 2's special stages are the best" Oh yeah, those tubular special stages, with very pixelated assets and a horrendously choppy framerate, unresponsive controls that often makes you run into those spike balls/morning star things, sadistically strict ring collecting requirements to complete them, a draw distance that's all over the place and makes it hard to tell where you should position yourself to get a row of rings (and then there's the rows that can't be predicted at all because they come out of a curve). Sure sure, the best special stages ever seen in any Sonic game, no doubt about it.
@@SpriteStrikerAnimates Counter arguments are suddenly disrespecting to an opinion? Besides, he was kind of confrontative about it, saying that "if you think otherwise you're wrong" or something like that, I made my comment in the same spirit
A new video already? Man, my boy William Robert is on fire! Also, the best special stages are probably from the Game Gear games, they don't have crazy special effects, but they're definitely less frustrating and clunky (except for Sonic Triple Trouble, if only because of how hard it is to even get to them as you need to have enough rings AND find a hidden special monitor). Special mention to Chaotix's special stages for having a pretty nice idea, but absolutely flawed execution.
I played the hell out of Blue Sphere with Sonic 1 & Knuckles. Sure it gets repetitive, but that's when you start completing levels on the first try while going backwards.
I know that this video was from two years ago but Mighty DOES have a special ability, it's the Wall-Kick from Knuckles' Chaotix, it's extremely OP in Spring Yard and especially Marble Garden
I wish you did more things with Shadow, because you could also do things like a Homing Attack and Punching. You may have been playing a different one than the I played though.
I legit like the sonic 1 special stages XD I like blue spheres too.. and i USED to hate the half pipes.. but the 2013 remake made me like them.. And mania is my favorite special stage... and no im honestly not lying, lol
You can't mod Sonic 1. Though, you could mod Sonic Mania to have all the S1 Levels, badniks, bosses, ect (Which may be harder since it's a mod, but it's possible), then making it so you can play as anyone, palette bugs and all.
Thank YOU!!! Now i can play as ray, my favourite guy in sonic mania plus now as well allso the rest but ray. Thanks for links im so subscribing for this
I actually prefer Amy play this way, it sets her further apart from the rest of the characters in an interesting way imo. Plus it sortof makes Sonic 1 harder in a way.
Yeah, when I was playing Sonic 1 as her I really noticed how well those abilities fit with the game. I think she could use some faster hammer abilities, like a ground hammer that doesn't slow her down as much. I really liked her playstyle though, instead of just adding to what Sonic has it instead takes away most of what Sonic has and trades it in for a new playstyle with new moves that make her actually a lot of fun to control.
As a kid all of the special stages were too hard for me. The easiest though, was the first games so I did actually prefer Sonic 1 special stages. I also kind of liked Blue Spheres after I learned how it worked, but I always thought Sonic 2’s special stages were just too unfair. It’s weird, but I’ve never had the exact opposite opinion of a youtuber before lol.
I like Sonic 1 special stages. So the thing with Amy is that her moveset is based off of Sonic Advance. Her hammer allows for more air time off of springs. Her moveset makes more sense in that game but it's kind of awkward in S1 since the levels weren't designed around that gameplay
the special stages of Sonic 1 seem acceptable to me, they are not great but not horrible, Sonic 2's seem to me the best ones, if you dont go with Tails they arent frustrating at all, I never liked Sonic 3's, I always preferred to play bonus stages
" Ouh, *THAT ISN'T SONIC* " 3:03 *BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT* (I'm just naming my favorite scenes) 5:16 " *as Ray The Flying Squir-* " 12:37 *THATS NOT SONIC!* *THATS NOT SONIC!*
9:51 then they could give him its original ability, the wall jump (that you could also spam on the same wall practically working as the same as knuckles but VERY faster)
