Came here looking for info on the tethrd one stick. Great video and I like that you are very non-biased to one brand or the other. looking forward to the one stick method video, that looks like a great stick. Subbed
Can't get the Tethrd1 sticks. Impossible to find, never in stock. I think they stopped making them temporarily because that "chemical bond" otherwise known as glue, was failing and dudes were getting hurt. Have seen picks of steps separating from the post online... They added that roll pin to address this, but no roll pin is considered weight bearing or load rated... meaning it's still an unsafe stick. Ti and aluminum, being different materials, will expand and contract at different rates in temp changes.... that will stress that "chemical bond" and cause it to fail. Their step to stick attachment method needs to be redesigned..
Novix Minis with doublestep tops, amsteel chains, and dual aiders, I am pleased with that setup. One of the lightest around, and inexpensive. That Tie Fighter one stick looks intersting, where will it be sold? Thanks for this video.
Great question. I definitely switch back and forth between the two methods of just taking climbing sticks and taking my one stick. The more I use the one stick climbing method, the more I feel like it's a great swiss army knife for climbing. Even on trees with a ton of branches, as long as I have a linemans belt, I'm good to go to where I can maneuver around them. So, I guess the answer to your question is evolving.. I used to take the one stick only when I knew what tree I was going to, but now I feel more comfortable taking it everywhere I go. Only exception is when I have a camera guy coming with me who needs the sticks behind me.
I sure hope it does. Another video of Carl using it shows a TETHRD decal on the stick. He says it’s a prototype in the video. Soooooo, hoping that means it will come out soon. I know they made a pouch for the 40ft tether rope that is coming on July 1. Maybe the TIE will be coming soon too. 🤷🏼♂️
I am looking to start the tree saddle journey and I want to purchase what works best. My build is very similar and I like the tethrd phantom XL. Wanted to climb with the tethrd sticks but they are sold out with no lead time. What would be your second pick to get in the woods the first of October?
You said pros AND cons of the one sticks. Didn’t hear any cons. Obviously noise. What about the stand-off spacing and the fiddle factor of stacking them. Did they address it on the final product?
I don't think there's any issue with the stand-off spacing. For me, when I climb, I like to have my feet out at a 45* angle - with these sticks the standoff and step make a giant platform, and a great "landing area" so to speak for my foot
Thanks for the great review! It helped a lot choosing my first set of sticks. I'm curious what diameter of amsteel you choose to replace the stock strap on the sticks with. Thanks
He says the tehtrd sticknwill just wear and tear for years , they are have real issues with the glue on them , they glue the steps on the sticks and that glue is failing on many sticks , but he didn' mention that . Maybe he didn't know or maybe he let it out because they give him free shit .
Heard some folks complain about the pins on the One Sticks breaking. That brings me to a question, what are those orange pieces you have around your stacking pins?
You're currently one sticking?? You're affiliated with Tethrd and got your "ONE" sticks for free?? Send your Tethrd one sticks to me..I'll take em 😂😂😂 I'm laughing but I'm as serious as the brain surgery I just had 👊
@@jeff_8789 do you have a video on that or can you do one? I bought a 3 pack but I'm afraid an aider might damage the product as I've seen 2 review videos that said happened to them. Thanks
3 questions about the Tethrd sticks. 1) what size stealth strip did you use to wrap them ? 2) I notice you have orange stacking pegs and the released ones come black, is that a prototype? Or a replacement? 3) Being that you’re associated with the company maybe you can find out for certain : when the stacking pegs break (because they for sure are going to knowing my self) will Tethrd offer replacement stacking pegs? I’ve seen reviews where they were in fact broken during use and shipping. Having just ordered them the second they dropped publicly it is a big concern because it is a big selling point. I was duped by XOP with their stick locking and when the aluminum started sheering and they lost the ability to stack I wanted to throw my self out of the tree lol now they are annoyingly bulky sticks that only 2/4 have the ability to lock together and when I’m walking in the woods and they come loose hanging off my predator pack I’m ready to loose my $hit. Because I’m forced to stop walking, take off the pack, and re-tighten the predator pack straps. It cost time and probably some success in the form of stealthiness when they clank on my back. Having spent the money in the one stick it would be a shame to have this happen all over again.
Thanks for watching! I wanted to make sure to address all your points, so see answers below: 1.) I used the "standard" stealth strip roll. Works great. 2.) I was playing around with my 3D printer and testing some ideas when I made the pegs in this video. 3.) I don't think the stacking pegs will break easily - I have a seriously high number of climbs, stacks, smacks, etc on the sticks and didn't ever have any issue with them breaking. However, I know that Tethrd will, 100%, make a point to exceed customer service and stand behind their product. I'm positive if you have an issue, they'll stop at nothing to make it right. I don't think you have any concern with the ONE sticks like you had with the XOP's... I had a buddy have the same issue with the XOP's and I know how annoying it was. He also had his top step break on him when he was standing on it... talk about scary!
I have a few questions about the C.K. “The Legend” Tie Fighter stick. What does it weigh, will it be available to the public at some point and if so when?? Thanks and great video!!
He's definitely a legend!! I'm in the process of talking about how to take the One stick and use it as a one stick climbing method. It's actually better than the tie fighter. Stay tuned!
Nice! You're going to love them. Let me know your thoughts and feedback! Definitely check out the One stick review video I just dropped for how I modified them!
@@HuntUrban I just did last night great review and I’m going to by the strips to put on them I’ll give u some feed back once I get them in and used them for a bit thanks for the reply
Definitely my opinion, but I have a size 12 shoe, so I figure if it's good for me, most people should be okay with it. The key to climbing, in my opinion, is getting your foot sideways to maximize surface area.
Just started hunting in Dec and grabbed the beast sticks. Seemed like the most durable and stable for the money. After climbing as a noob in the cold, dark and wet I'm pretty happy with them. Def want to replace buckles with ropes though. Where do you get your amsteel ropes?
@@HuntUrban I've seen these items since the G2Outdoors one stick video. Literally the video that convinced me to one stick. Now I am just waiting for Tethrd to actually make these available some how...
I tried to love the wild edge steps. They are great to pack, transport and climb. They SUCK at attaching to the tree. Despite all the promo videos showing how easy they are to attach, they take forever to attach and never feel secure.
I use the Hawk Helium 20” sticks it has been a great stick but on the lady lip you might need to cut it just a little. If you cut it to much it will not suction. I cut them to much and had to take little bungee chords around them. Overall a great starter stick.
