If Rock apologized for a joke, specifically a mild one like that, everyone in attendance should've been able to slap him. He had nothing to apologize for. It's a joke. If you don't like it, then don't fucking laugh, and move on.
I always find myself wondering what Patrice O'Neal would have said about things if he were alive. This time, Cory Holcombe said exactly what Patrice would have.
Patrice was deliberately contrarian. I think his instinct would have been to defend Will Smith, but Chris Rock is a fellow comedian... Definitely would have been interesting, and hilarious.
@@joehernandez9563 I'm going to disagree based on the fact that Patrice wouldn't like the way Will has allowed Jada to behave. Hey, she can do what she wants...but he doesn't have to stick around and just accept it. Remember Patrice's words - "If your girlfriend left you today...what would you miss?"
@@harijotkhalsa5546 Its amazing that you actually give that much of a shit. Who gives a fuck what she is or he is for that matter. They're actors. Not gods.
I forgot how hard Corey Holcomb goes. His style is so over the top and borderline evil. He doesn't hold back to avoid offense at all. He's just incinerating bridges for a laugh and I am so here for it. I think his was the funniest from any of these compilations.
You really think Jada is the only one who participated in their open marriage?. You really think it wasnt Will's idea in the first place to have his cake as a leading man and eat it too?. While he was off running around with woman after woman, Jada got angry and indulged herself. Probably to teach Will a lesson. He cant confess his women because it's bad PR. She confessed hers to punish him. Open marriages dont work. It's wrong and SO PREDICTABLE to put all the blame on a woman
I read today that Will planned her 40th birthday for 3 years. He spent a million bucks on it. That was the occasion she chose to tell him she didn’t love him.
Hughley is indirectly giving Will Smith the advice he needed to hear years ago before Jada started to full on treat their marriage and personal life like dog food for her rag fuckin talk show. The more I hear about the culmination of this shit surrounding their relationship and troubles, the more I truly feel bad for him & that he is probably truly sorry he struck Chris like that. I genuinely hope he leaves her behind & is able to be happy, cause she seems like an absolute emotional vampire
I agree. Before he even said it, I knew he was going to bring up not throwing your pearls before swine, was the next logical progression. I think Will made the mistake of doing that with Jada. I don't condone what he did, but I still think Will is a good soul with a kind heart. Many people have let their anger get the best of them a time or two, it doesn't make them a bad person. Narcissists like Jada can be incredibly cruel and heartless people, with no empathy or remorse. That's what makes them so dangerous. I think she has done a number on him, which does not excuse his action, but may help explain why he is obviously a mess.
Will made fun of a bald man on Arsenio hall show, The audience booed Will and he said "It was just a joke". If Will felt some type of way, He should of approach Chris in the back and Jada should of stop Will.
@@juventusventuno9213 depends how funny it is , i think you are allowed to joke about everything , absolutely everything , the darker the humor the funnier the joke must be or else it will just come out as an insult , no standup comedian wants to actually hurt ppl or make them feel bad , they dont want to bomb on stage , but they have to push the limit to see what works or not , if everyone would worry about hurting ppl´s feelings, comedy would die out and never become what is is today , rule #1 never assault someone over Words , its not worth it , specially when you put yourself in that situation
I really wish that Chris Rock had responded to the slap and about face by Will Smith with, “you DO realize that this is the Oscars, not the Source Awards, right? “But of course, Chris was in shock and I think did an admirable job of staying classy and professional. But man, I would’ve loved to have heard that..
It’s the Oscars and? If it was the BET Awards, y’all wouldn’t be in such outrage. Just because it was a bunch of white folks in the audience and it made them “uncomfortable” and some black folks care so much about what they see and how they feel. Yt folks claiming to be “ traumatized” but isn’t traumatized when a white cop kills unarmed black men and women. They said will is violent but praise that white teen who shot and killed innocent protesters, calling police on innocent black folks for no reason
@@unrulysinner635 innocent protesters?😆 You mean the rioters that foolishly thought trying to take someone's firearm was a smart thing to do? Innocent my ass. He did the world a favor. Eliminated a kid f**ker and a woman beater in less than 5 minutes. Actions have consequences when you engage in a violent manner and stop thinking rational. Will's dumbass is finding out the hard way.
@@unrulysinner635 The fact that there IS a difference is a real problem. Will shouldn't have been allowed on that stage. Security was a joke. And once he hit Chris. he should have been arrested and removed from the theatre. It's that cut and dried. I guess Will Smith received "White Privilege".
I'm thinking Carlin wouldn't have given a shit about the slap itself but would use it to set up a bit about how Will didn't go far enough and he wants to see famous people killing each other at award shows.
Chris took that slap like a champ! A true pro!! Much respect to him. He could have said, “Wil, I’m going to give you a pass because that slap didn’t hurt as much as Wild Wild West or Entanglements.” But he kept it classy 👍🏾 Corey killed it 😂😂😂 I thought Godfrey’s Steve Harvey and Denzel Washington’s impressions were great…. The Paul Mooney was just as spot on! This guy is excellent at impressions!!!
Bottom line, he hit Chris Rock because he knew he could and Chris wouldn’t hit back. That is not strength. If he slapped Mike Tyson? Then that’s making a stand. Cause you know bad shit is incoming.
@@JAWrightonline yes I do, he’s there to roast people. The problem is too many thin skinned people. And will is a whipping boy for jada . She is the problem. But a real man says something to him after the show , man to man.
@@jamesclark4523 No, he wouldn't have cracked on anyone married to Mike Tyson. I've seen the whole routine. Rock comes out, cracked on Denzel and not his wife, Pauletta. He then cracks on Javier and Penelope Cruz's dilemma about both being nominated and throw Will Smith in saying Javier hopes Will wins. That should have been it, present the Best Documentary Award. But NOOOOO... Rock is STILL salty with Jada's call for an Oscar protest in 2016 (which he was scheduled to host). He wasn't satisfied with his clap back on her at the 2016 show. He wanted to be one up. And he was...for about 15 seconds until Will comes on stage and pimpslapped his ass. Chris Rock had it coming. I don't hold with the way Jada has been disrespecting and humiliating Will Smith over the years but a tacky comedian publicly insulting a woman's looks before a worldwide audience isn't in line for any trophies, either.
Its so weird. Will Smith on paper should be the happiest guy on earth. Successful in music, TV and movies to some of the highest levels that exist. Was for a long period the highest paid actor in the world. In a long term marriage and has two successful, albiet slightly weird kids. Either way, looks like he has it made in every sense. Then you dig deeper and the guy is just a fucking mess. Its weird to see a guy who is so obviously successful to heights 99.99% of us will never reach... be a trainwreck.
Rickey Smiley was 100%, including the bit about the police don't need Chris Rock to say or do anything. The crime was committed and the police should have arrested Will for that crime. Not the best jokes on the matter, but definitely the best take I've heard so far.
Dude is wise! He's sooooo right. People don't snap over one thing. It's a build-up. I've never heard it so eloquently stated. I've never been a DL fan...but wow, he's changing my mind!
So the point of displaced anger on Chris Rock that was meant for his wife (her affair/emasculation) makes sense. Some good points made here. Hurt people hurt people. Unfortunately.
The easiest, most subtle response could have simply been... "I think you are mistaken me for the wrong person" or "Don't worry about it, ...I think he was just having a flashback about the Red Table" or "Will, this is the Academy Awards ...not the Red Table". Oh, one more ..."Will, I don't have your balls ...Jada has them ...don't you remember!". (In that iconic CRock voice)
DL was actually on an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air where he played Will's stand up comedian cousin that had to give Will advice on being a comedian (Will wanted to do stand up and thought he was funny until he went on stage and started bombing . DL's character saves the show by running on stage and taking over, even roasting Will.
Chris Rock took the moral high ground by not hitting back, both physically & verbally. He kept the show tame & respectful as it has been for decades. Today, Chris is heralded & applauded by the whole world while people are demeaning Will Smith, including scratching their heads why he did that. The higher your pedestal, the deeper you can fall. One of the biggest box office A-Listers is now down the toilet, at least for the time being. But don't think that it's temporary, because this incident will live with him forever. Not only did Will denigrate himself, but he also denigrated the Williams family, even if people think he did not. That night will be remembered for the slap heard around the world, instead of people remembering Will Smith for his role as King Richard Williams. But things will probably blow over in a couple years or so, as long as he sincerely apologizes over that time period. He has already publicly apologized, as well as privately apologized to Chris, afaik. This also serves as continuing the role that good mental health & anger management plays in all walks of life, not just in Hollywood.
Funny how Will said keeps his wife’s name out your mouth, to everyone having his wife’s name in their mouth. And his wife having everyone in her mouth. Good start to Spring.
Rock clearly started to say something. "Oh, I could..." And then he (rightly, I think) let it drop to put the focus back on the nominees where it belonged. But knowing Rock, I can't help thinking he considered saying "KEEP OTHER MEN'S DICKS OUT YOUR WIFE'S FUCKING MOUTH!"
it wasn't a bad joke at all, what we seen was a broken man on the verge of a mental breakdown lose his cool. we don't care what race he is, or any of that bullshit, it was a joke, there are a million other things smith could have done if he was offended instead of getting violent. Will also joked about bald heads before himself, which makes this even more sad. What we see is a man broke down to nothing by a women he loves who does not love him and treats him like shit, simple as that, it was never about the joke, it was always about the pain he is going through with his family. people coming up with all kinda of excuses for will, there aint none, simple as that, he fucked up, he needs to own that shit, apologize for real, and get rid of his cheating ass wife and find a better life with someone who would actually give him the love and attention he wants. also, its getting old how every damn thing gotta be turned racial.... why can't it just be two dudes beefing, why does it have to be two black dudes beefing....
Like it or not, there's a racial component to most things in life, it's just that some races have the luxury to ignore it while others do not. Now, to answer your question, "why can't it just be two dudes beefing, why does it have to be two Black dudes beefing?"... Short answer is, Will Smith wouldn't have slapped the shit out of Chris Rock had Chris Rock been a White person.
@@jovanreid6782 no, the racial component is a bullshit excuse for bad behavior. and you assume too much, everyone assumes too much, will is a broken man who over decades had been treated like shit by someone he loves and that he had kids with, the same person who turned those kids against him. we have no idea if he would have hit the comedian if he was white or black, a man in that position who loses his cool would have attacked at some point, regardless of color, Chris Rock just so happened to be the proverbial last straw, we can assume all kinds of things, but you do not know if he would have or wouldn't have hit him if he was white or not and its dumb to assume so.
It was NOT about protecting her. It was him lashing out over loss of control in his marriage. Honey, I know it’s cheaper to keep her but it’s worth the money for PEACE OF MIND. Do a Lionel Richie and tell sis to “Sail on”! Wait, she did what??
Chris Rock doesn't need to apologize to anyone. You're at the Oscars, in the front row, you're getting roasted. Get over it. But of course Will can't get over it, because his toxic narcissist psycho entangling wife has completely emasculated him and he's allowed that.
I’m sorry, but if Jada had cancer then I could see Will’s reaction….but the disease she has is not deadly and she could have worn a wig if she was that sensitive. Corey Holcomb was preaching 🤣❤️🤣❤️
And keep in mind - some comedians and actors who have worked with Will are talking publicly about how he has always been an *sshole. He made racist comments about one of his Latin costars from Ali every time he saw him. Not even in a joking way. In a deliberately derogatory way.
4:55 well it depends on the laws in the state too, my state doesnt give a damn if the other person presses charges or not. Texas District Attorneys will file those charges anyway & that'd be misdemeanor "simple assault" not a felony- farthest thing from a felony
100% that dude was NOT smacking Chris Rock, he was smacking his wife for the pain she has put him through publicly, Chris Rock's face just happened to be in the way.
Wow. Corey Holcomb filling in the blanks. Will, you are chasing a dead man's wife. I imagine Will Smith would have hundreds of options but Darth Jada has him on lockdown.
I think DL hit it right on the head...probably the best perspective I've heard on the subject so far...that being said, Will Smith was never the least threatening black guy out there, everybody knows that's Wayne Brady...Lol!
I do not understand black people saying Will made them look bad. Will made Will look bad. But if you really want to make it about skin color why not say Chris Rock made black people look good
He would have been taken out... today's climate would have had Patrice raining down thunder. He would have been public enemy #1... or in the eyes of normal minded folks - an American hero 😁
#3 is by far the best! Lets just say the last half of #3. All time! Will Smith will never be the same in the eye of the public. To bad, so sad. Give a new meaning to “Parents just don’t understand” Nice knowing ya Will
Every man is responsible for his own actions, and the only way to keep his pants, is to not let her take them from him, in the fist place. Not worth looking like a fool. Toxic love, not worth it.
