Every single node in Blender 2.83's compositor, explained in one video. The compositor works with both Cycles and EEVEE. It allows you to change colors, add depth of field, even texture models after the render is done. While it's recommended that you avoid the phrase "Fix it in post," sometimes, it cannot be avoided. Learn how to navigate those situations, with a whole new arsenal of nodes under your belt! Blender 2.83 Compositing nodes!

The Denoise Node, you absolutely want to enable "Denoising Data" under render passes. And then plug the corresponding denoising normal and albedo to the denoiser node. It gives much better results that way.
@iviecarp
@iviecarp 4 года назад
True. What I've also found is that it's important to input the Noisy Image instead of just the plain Image, as it gives better results, especially on low sample counts. Also, if denoising albedo isn't working out for a render, I saw a suggestion to try enabling the Diffuse Color render pass and plug that into the albedo for the denoise node - I tried it and it can give better results in some cases, it did for me as I was rendering at 8 samples.

@OGPatriot03
@OGPatriot03 3 года назад
@@iviecarp I've always found that the noisy image node gave worse results and then I had heard that they're completely identical which is definitely counter to my experience. Pro tip, you can enable all the different render passes and then combine all the ones you want to use the denoising Normal/Albedo but do things like the volume pass separate where you don't want those things.

3:46 Remember that properties can be animated in the Compositor as elsewhere in Blender, so your Value and RGB nodes can be made to change their outputs over time. Interestingly, this applies to the Time node as well: you can animate those start and end frame numbers over time.

22:02 I think normalization has to be based on examining the values over the entire input image, and mapping the lowest value to 0 and the highest to 1. Is anybody else immediately thinking of tricks involving extracting the normalization factor from this node and applying it to some other unrelated image?

Not to sound unappreciative, this is a helpful overview but can you please not wiggle the screen? It made me a bit nauseous, sorry. Wiggling the nodes is fine. Also, regarding the nodes that apply blending effects (such as Overlay, Screen etc.) they have a specific interaction with the Filmic colorspace that is the default in Blender and is also extremely important for photorealistic renders and renders with a high dynamic range. I don't remember all the details but Troy Sebotka who is the color expert behind it said that it more or less ruins the advantages of Filmic. I think this was mentioned in more detail in Andrew Price's photorealism video which explained Filmic in more detail. Not necessarily a big deal and I'm not saying you did a bad job but it's something to keep in mind as it can give surprising results for people who depend on Filmic working as intended.

I think the reason, that the pixelate node doesn't have scale is probably, because it's supposed to be like an "apply resolution" node. You don't necessarily have a scale right before, but maybe your input image has the wrong dimensions or something, so you pixelate the output and scale to a different image input after. I don't have any use for the node myself, but it's look probably comes from how it's normally used. Also the Sun Beams Node works perfectly in combination with the environment pass as light rays normally don't come from objects xD
