Tomb will always be my favourite Cyber episode and probably my favourite Doctor Who episode ever. maybe this is my sign to watch Attack of the Cybermen
Believe it or not, I've never seen "Attack of the Cybermen"! It's the only cyber story I've not seen in classic Who. The first one I ever watched was "Revenge," and though I recognize the problems with it now, as a kid this was my ultimate comfort food and probably my most watched serial. I'm torn between the two-part Capaldi story and "Tomb" being my favorite, however. Maybe "Attack" will solve that problem and be my favorite. I'm on it.
Just found your channel mate. Great work👍🏻 It's great to see someone who started watching the relaunched series, and got in to the 63-89 Who. Well worth a sub.
My list: 16.) Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel 15.) Dark Water/Death in Heaven 14.) Revenge of the Cybermen 13.) Silver Nemesis 12.) The Next Doctor 11.) Closing Time 10.) Nightmare in Silver 9.) Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 8.) Attack of the Cybermen 7.) The Wheel in Space 6.) The Invasion 5.) The Moonbase 4.) The Tenth Planet 3.) Earthshock 2.) World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls 1.) Tomb of the Cybermen
@@IsaacWhittakerDakin The Cybermen just feel too robotic to me in that story as with a lot of the RTD era and feel more like an indestructible army and just become a brain in a robot suit rather than a race that has slowly replaced their limbs with robotics which for me is a lot scarier. I don't know why they rewrote the backstory of the Cybermen when the Mondas backstory is so fascinating. I never really became a fan of the Cybermen till I got into the Classic Series. I get why some fans like it but to me it just falls flat
That's fair the reason for the new backstory is that they didnt wanna confuse any potential new audiences and how Cyber history is pretty contradictory in places
@@IsaacWhittakerDakin I think they could have made it work. They kept the same backstory for the Daleks and it doesn't always need to involve much exposition or understanding of continuity if it was a relatively simple story
The Cybermen are without a doubt my favourite Doctor Who villain. When at their best they are a warning to humanity on what we may become, they were at their best in the 60s.
YESSS! The Cybermen are my all-time favourite as well. Haven't made a full ranked list, but some of my favourites are: -The Moonbase -Tomb of The Cybermen -Earthshock -Rise of The Cybermen/The Age of Steel -World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
Here’s my ranking: 1. Earthshock 2. World Enough And Time/ The Doctor Falls 3. Tomb Of The Cybermen 4. The Moonbase 5. The Invasion 6. The Haunting Of Villa Diodati 7. Attack Of The Cybermen 8. Rise Of The Cybermen/ Age Of Steel 9. The Tenth Planet 10. Army Of Ghosts/ Doomsday 11. The Next Doctor 12. Ascension of the Cybermen/ The Timeless Children 13. Revenge Of The Cybermen 14. Nightmare In Silver 15. Dark Water/ Death In Heaven 16. Silver Nemesis 17. Closing Time
I don't think the modern series did the cybermen justice since after three reappearance in season 2 they play second fiddle to other stories. I'd also put nightmare in silver at the bottom as they're just robots.
Here's my list: 19) The Next Doctor 18) Nightmare In Silver 17) Silver Nemisis 16) AOTC/TTC 15) Attack of the Cybermen 14) Closing Time 13) The Wheel In Space 12) Revenge of the Cybermen 11) Dark Water/Death In Heaven 10) The Five Doctors 9) ROTC/TAOS 8) The Tenth Planet 7) Tomb of the Cybermen 6) The Haunting of Villa Diodati 5) WEAT/TDF 4) Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 3) The Invasion 2) Earthschock 1) The Moonbase
From worst to best: 17.Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel 16.Closing Time 15.Revenge of the Cybermen 14.Attack of the Cybermen 13.The Next Doctor 12.Silver Nemesis 11.Nightmare in Silver 10.Dark Water/Death in Heaven 9. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 7.The Wheel in Space 6.The Moonbase 5.The Tenth Planet 4.The Invasion 3.Earthshock 2.Tomb of the Cybermen 1. World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
Cybermen lost their scare and impact when in from Revenge of The Cybermen (1975), when they longer spoke with that electronic drone. Their look changed too many times over the years! INCONSISTENT!
The idea was that they evolved, as they redesigned themselves. The earliest Cybermen are humanoids with attached life support systems and replacement limbs. The later variants are suposed to look more like war machines, because their own survival became the driving force for them.
Pretty Bad ------------------ 17.Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel 16.Revenge of the Cybermen 15.Silver Nemesis 14.Attack of the Cybermen 13.Closing Time 12.The Next Doctor 11.Nightmare in Silver Average --------------- 10.The Wheel in Space 9.The Tenth Planet 8.The Moonbase 7.Dark Water/Death in Heaven 6. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday Best --------- 5.The Invasion 4.Tomb of the Cybermen 3.Earthshock 2.Big Finish Spare Parts(You can't dismiss one of the most notable big finish stories and one of the best cyberman stories) 1. World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
They are my favourite villains as well. I haven't seen all of them but a few of my favourites are Tomb of the Cybermen Moonbase Earthshock Rise of the Cybermen,Age of steel World enough and Time
Absolutely brilliant video! Interesting choices and so engaging (watched from start to finish) :D My favourite is World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls :D
The Cybermen are my favourites as well. I usually make two lists for NuWho with each series; Best Episodes and Personal Favourites/Guilty Pleasures. And I found the Cybermen would often make at least one of the lists. While most people consider The Impossible Planet two parter to be the best episode of Series 2, for me it was Army of Ghosts and Doomsday. And I still think the cliffhanger at the end of Army is one of Doctor Who's best. The Next Doctor is my personal favourite from David Tennant's departure year, and for me, I always rank it as the best Christmas Special. Closing Time was my Personal Favourite choice from Series 6. Nightmare in Silver was my favourite from Series 7 Part 2. I thought Dark Water and Death in Heaven were the best episodes of Series 8. And World Enough and Time and the Doctor Falls were my best AND personal favourite choice for Series 10. At the moment, the only Classic Cyber stories I've seen are The Tenth Planet and the Invasion, but I hope to rectify that soon.
I also have Cybermen as my favourite opponent to the doctor, and your ranking isn't that far from mine. Invasion is my favourite story and coincidentally the same age as me! 🎂😭😂
