Heard its a very wet year so far in Switzerland, there is only one way to make hay in wetter like this its with Schwedenreutern or Rollenreutern (Heinzen und usw) there is a video on youtube haying like that ya might have to ask your wife to look it up they are called Landwirtschaft gestern: Heinzen und Puppen 1942 or Leben und Arbeit in der Landwirtschaft 1958 my grandfather still made hay that way and I have tried it once too and it works. Awesome video as always
Didn't watch your channel for quite a while, but always interesting to see when something pops up what your view on things is. Quite often I find things that people who grew up somewhere else might find odd, but I just never thought of it and took it as normal... If you do a video about the wolves, i would like to see the actually practical side of things. There are enough videos and articles out there which either discuss the political side of things or just end up being "city-milkcomesfromthesupermarket-people-bashing" or "wealwaysdiditlikethat-farmer-bashing". Therefor would like to see what the purely practical side of things is. Thanks!
that system in the hayloft I remember it well we had it too and what surprised me a few years ago General Electric in the US made a film in the 1940s about the same system for US farmers the film is called Green hay if ya like to check it out
With the limited space, do they use daily rotational grazing? or just open pastures? Do farmers use those Italian maremma dogs to guard the sheep? or is there a proper Swiss dog for that?
I haven't seen the rotational grazing here. I'm sure it's done somewhere but I don't know why not more often. I will have to ask. Lots of people use maremmas, but Kalberweidli uses donkeys. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the wolves coming up here.
This is starting to be a very interesting series of videos. Can’t wait to watch the follow-up. Hope you get enough of Benji‘s terrific coffee so you can stand the rain.
As a Swiss it saddens me how certain Cantons want to shoot the wolves and bears. Hope the people in Schwyz have more sense and compassion for the wild animals we have. Nice work you are doing!
@@AmericameetsSwitzerland I'll be back to catch it. Thanks for showing me your perspective of Switzerland, it's nice seeing it from a non Swiss point of view.
