Venetia is so intelligent and perceptive , tragically she was too damaged and traumatized to work thru it
@Senate300
@Senate300 7 месяцев назад
She simply didn't have the strength of will to live long enough to be the opposition to Oliver's usurpation of her family and conquest of her ancestral home and birthright.
@Recubs0608

She was. She figured it out what Oliver's intentions after Felix died, unfortunately, it was too late for her to do anything

@Senate300

@@Recubs0608 Of course she was. Overlooked by her parents, hypersexualised from young, struggled with bulimia, left to flickered in the shadow of much loved older brother who was later deceased and her constant boredom and jadedness regarding her families antics with the strays suggested She views Saltburn as her gilded cage. Venetia really was on the poor little rich girl end of miserable. And to top it all with the death of Felix and the resentment towards Oliver slowly taking his place(especially in the eyes of her mother), I'm no longer surprised that Venetia lost her will to live.

The biggest mistake Felix made was accepting Oliver back after finding out he lied about his parents being dead. If someone did that to me, I'd feel so angry and betrayed. They would be cut out of my life for good

Veneta should have known that trope; if you call someone out on their bs, you'll eventually get bodied
@6Churches

But she didn't 'get bodied', the film indicates she took her own life .... how convenient for Oliver

@@alisterfolson That's the voice of the writer/filmmaker speaking, not really the character Oliver as the rapist serial killer he is is not a very redeemable arc to follow. It would have been more honest for him to watch her and realise she wasn't going to do it, so he'd have to force her But the filmmaker softens the blow and adds the voice-over

I think you've misunderstood. He loved but he hated them all. He planned all the murders, beforehand.
@raindrops21_9
@raindrops21_9 7 месяцев назад
Hmmm...but Oliver is an unreliable narrator. He lies *all the time* so his recounting of the story is dubious. He paints a picture where he targeted Felix from the off for financial gain - but might that not be the story he tells _himself_ so that the romantic rejection is softened? I wonder whether he really was in love with Felix and only decided on the murders _after_ Felix discovers his lies and rejects him.

I liked a lot of the dialogue and interactions but I feel the film should've been more ambiguous, because Oliver killing everyone like a terminator is ridiculous. I think it would've been better if we didn't know how the murders went down because poison would've been picked up quickly 😂

I liked this film a lot and Barry Keoghan is a very good actor, but I think he ist too old for that role. So much so, I thought it to be at some point a part of the story, that it turned out he was a creppy old guy and not a real student

He's only 32 now so probably 30 when they filmed? I had to look it up bc I thought he was maybe mid 20's but imo he's still not too old for the role. In fact there are times when he looked like really young bc he was sad or upset. He had a way of portraying a wounded, innocent boy one minute and a calculating murderer the next. Can't wait to see his upcoming roles

Why go through all this effort for a terrible film and flimsy plot based on wanton wish-fulfillment? Where did Oliver get poison from? Why was their no autopsy and bloodwork done? It's just written so poorly. The sister's death is highly contrived - she uses the bathtub right next to Olvier's room and no one asks a single question

@@adamrutherford8523 They have a huge staff and are used to delegating tasks and so could easily ask their butler to acquire the services of a detective - it's incredibly rare to just overdose from alcohol alone, I can't even remember the last headline that ever depicted such an event The sister was in a very odd location - in the boy's bathroom, right? Doesn't that at least place her in great proximity to Oliver.

I'll tell you what happened the butler, he disrobed just like Oliver but instead of gleefully dancing, he started silently squirming and gyrating and then getting on his back and wriggling around. Oliver see's this and after some initial bafflement he says "hey that looks pretty cool" and gets on his back and also starts wriggling around. Then they are both transported to the Marvel universe where they must defeat the mighty Thanos. Alongside them is a companion, a middle aged man named Bob who has the superpower of extremely cheeky facial expressions and Bob only says two sentences, "what the hell is going on here" and "I'm hungry somebody find me some mutton". Oliver and Duncan the butler are both very embarrassed because they are completely naked but things work out because Bob unleashes an arsenal of the most outrageously cheeky smirks, grins, and eyebrow raises which are too powerful for Thanos to withstand so he runs away crying.
