My late aunt; Judith Byfield (6th September 1951 - 20th May 1989) played the part of Angela Clifford in Time-Flight which was the seventh and final serial of the 19th season. It broadcast from the 22nd to 30th March 1982. Whilst Time Flight isn’t the best serial, I feel immensely proud to have a family connection to the franchise. She also appeared in Bergerac (1981) & also Wuthering Heights (1978). Also, her husband appeared in the BBC Radio adaptation of The Lord of The Rings. He played the Black Rider who utters the line ‘Shire. Baggins’ as well as playing Beregond. Last year I spoke with Brian Sibley about this & he recalled working with my uncle.

For some reason the first and second Dr, Who intros are my favorite even though it's black and white ... to be honest i never really watched the show hardly except for the intro ... there must've been reruns in the 70s because i remember seeing it on TV when i was a young kid ... for the longest time the color versions didn't look like color because we still had a B+W TV! Craig Ferguson did a Dr. Who tribute on the late late show and despite it being fairly corny the sound of the music itself was done very well especially when you compare it to the original themes!

For me, Patrick Troughton's intro is the best. The way the feedback (if that's what it is) peels outward to reveal a smiling yet enigmatic Doctor's face along with the introduction of a fuller sound with spangles and rippling effects make this title sequence the best for me.Though some of the nineteen seventies versions with the split screen effects were close.

Nothing is more evocative of absolute, abject terror than the sound of Doc 4's theme at 3:22 coming on the TV when I was seven years old when my mom would watch Dr. Who on WGBH out of Boston in the early '80s. Seeing Tom Baker's floating head on the screen and hearing that viscerally horrific music would set me to running and hiding instantly... but I would always come back to sneak a peek to see a Dalek or two! When I got older, my favorite version of the song would be Pink Floyd's, naught but a short tease of it in a live performance of their song One of These Days, but that scorching bassline always makes me explode in goosebumps

The later ones are just WAY too busy visually and the music sometimes has strings, piano, or other non-electronic instruments. Dr Who theme should be bass heavy with a driving rhythm, have an ominous synth atmosphere, and include a soaring guitar solo. Don't over complicate things.

The first Doctor I ever saw as a kid on PBS was Baker - the fourth Doctor the original introduction. It was a repeat episode as the original appeared before I was born/watching TV. Also saw the 5th and 6th Doctor. Then I have only seen this occasionally. Recognized David Tennet's opening and Matt Smith's with Karen Gillian. Guess that is all I have seen over the years.

I'm actually amazed how the titles and music changed over the years. As a kid of the 1960s, my first Doctor Who was Patrick Troughton, and my last was Silvester McCoy, because I couldn't take him seriously after his funny high-speed capers in 'Vision On' and 'Take Hart'.

Delia Derbyshire played her original arrangement for the composer Ron Grainer. "Did I write that?" he asked. "Mostly" she said. He'd given her a rhythm and a melody, along with some descriptive words like "sound clouds" and "swoops". She did the rest.

The 13th (Jodie's) is so good; it's just such a shame we didn't see it for very long. It went back to the trippy, sci-fi synth vibe, away from the orchestral versions (which are still good) but fit more with the show theme IMO.

Being born in 1961 means that I have been growing up with Doctor Who! I remember watching some of the William Hartnell series, but couldn't tell you whether it was any of their original airings or repeats. I started losing interest during the latter part of the Peter Davison era (discovering motorcycles, beer and girls...😊) ...I do always remember when I was young though, hiding behind the sofa when the Daleks appeared... 😅

I remember when the 4th doctor's theme changed to that energetic and exciting version for 4,5, and the first season of 6. I loved the change. With so many Tom Baker episodes, I had gotten so tired of the old version and the visuals seemed dated. However, the visuals for John Pertwee's last season were really cool.

Being in my early years and starting with and still remembering Tom Baker (fun fact..do you know he was a Scouser and a Monk who had a vow of silence before taking up acting) up to the next few Doctors, from the the start the intro music through each generatation and knowing when these shows were aired, even thogh revamped is still ahead of its time for each season.

It was a remixed edit of that episode that was accidently sent to Australia in the 70's. The ABC played it in 1978 and 1984. However Boston is the first place to have aired this in colour in 1977. Because Carnival Of Monsters aired in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar, there's probably Arabic copies of this episode.
