I've definitely wanted to mention that I personally love the talents of George Carlin, Michael Angeles, and especially the full CGI animation era voices of the Scottish twins who happen to be very well-known as Donald and Douglas SINCE all 3 of 'em give the Scottish twins strong Scottish accents! That certainly would also apparently go through the moments when the Scottish twins known as Donald & Douglas get into an official argument: like the time when Emily had been sent to help 'em deliver steel from Brendham Docks to Vicarstown as some snow knocked her off the tracks followed by the Scottish twins arguing directly in front of her UNTIL she stopped 'em by blowing her whistle! I've especially wanted to just very kindly mention that I personally love how Michael Angeles made Donald say, "didnae" firmly in the Scottish accent, and especially since the same exact thing goes with the full CGI animated era voices!
I love Ringo Starr, Michael Angeleles, George Carlin, Michael Brandon, and the CGI voices since they all sound like Scottish accents, unlike Alec Baldwin.
George carlin has to the best og. Alec didn't even try, Ringo sounds like he's going too high, Angelis sounds like he's trying but coming up short, the "is toooo..." guy is funny, and the cgi voices nailed it perfectly
@@ryanward652 At least Michael Angelis did the best after George Carlin, and Michael Brandon did better than Alec Baldwin, but I think Baldwin didn't even try to give Donald and Douglas their normal Scottish accents, because he was going through a divorce that caused him to be too depressed to do so.
As a 90s-era American Thomas fan, George Carlin will always be the definitive Donald and Douglas, and he sounded so natural and comfortable doing a Scottish accent. Same for Duncan. Alec Baldwin didn't even try.
@ryanward652 Obviously, because Alec didn't even bother to try, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
George Carlin: He is hands down the best. Michael Brandon: He's trying but is not as good. Ringo Starr: Too high pitched Alec Baldwin: He's NOT EVEN FUCKING TRYING!!!!
What if: Donald & Douglas appeared in S5… By then, Alec Baldwin would be at Michael Brandon level. I mean, his Duncan voice in S5 was okay, and I always pictured Donald & Douglas using a similar voice.
George Carlin, Ringo Starr, Michael Brandon, And Michael Angelis Did A Good Job Voicing Donald And Douglas. Except Alec Baldwin He Didn’t Give Donald And Douglas A Scottish Accent While Voicing Them For The US Dub.
@ryanward652 Yeah, but Michael Angelis, the second UK narrator for Thomas & Friends, did the second best after George Carlin. Also, R.I.P. George Carlin and Michael Angelis.
@ryanward652 Obviously, because Alec didn't even bother to try, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
I've sincerely wanted to mention that I personally love George Carlin along with Michael Angeles during the show's very own classic series, and especially Rob Rackstraw along with Joe Mills during the show's very own complete full CGI animated era in the episode titled Emily in the Middle from the show's very own complete 21st season! Although, Alec Baldwin had done such an amazing job of voicing Donald's driver in the episode titled Twin Trouble from the show's very own complete 6th season along with Michael Brandon ACTUALLY did such a great job of voicing both their drivers in the season 7 episode titled A Bad Day @ Castle Loch!
And that's why George Carlin was the best at giving Donald and Douglas their Scottish accents, but at least Michael Angelis did the best after him. Now, it is a shame that Alec Baldwin didn't even try to give Donald and Douglas their Scottish accents, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
Best to Worst: 1. George Carlin 2. Ringo Starr 3. Michael Angelis 4. Rob Rackstraw and Joe Mills 5. Willie Rushton 6. Michael Brandon 7. Ted Robbins 8. Alec Baldwin
In terms of the best D&D voice, George Carlin absolutely nailed the Scottish voice for both the twins brilliantly! Those were some of his best character voices! Imagine if he were to used that same Scottish voice he did for them in his stand-up comedies. That would've been hilarious! We can all agree that Alec Baldwin's voice for them is absolutely atrocious in S6. If D&D were to speak a bit more in S5, I imagine that would've been different than what happened now.
8. Alec Baldwin 7. Sir Ringo Starr 6. Michael Brandon 5. Rob Rackstraw and Joe Mills 4. Ted Robbins 3. George Carlin 2. Michael Angelis 1. Willie Rushton
I actually quite like Willie Rushton narrating the Railway series, its a very catchy voice I think, even though I grew up listening to Michael Angelis, Rushton sounds best. Alec Baldwin, I mean how disappointing
Willie Rushton did do a great job giving Donald and Douglas their normal Scottish accents alongside George Carlin, but at least Michael Angelis did the second best after them! Now it is a disappointment that Alec Baldwin couldn't even try to give those 2 Scottish twins their normal accents, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
Yeesh! For all the good memories of listening to Alec Baldwin narrating the stories, he wasn’t even putting any effort into Donald and Douglas’ voices yet he makes James sound like he’d look better in a rainbow paint scheme (if you catch my drift).
Yes, the late George Carlin did have a great Scottish accent for Donald and Douglas, and the late Michael Angelis also did the second best after him. Now it is disappointing that Alec Baldwin didn't even bother try to give Donald and Douglas their Scottish accents, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
Donald and Douglas never appeared in the Great Discovery movie, and that's the only part of Thomas & Friends that Pierce Brosnan narrated, which is why Pierce Brosnan is the only narrator to not voice Donald and Douglas, so if those Scottish twins appeared in the movie and were to have some speaking roles, I wonder how Brosnan would perform their accents, considering that one, the 2 twins are Scottish, two, Brosnan is Irish, and three, Scottish and Irish accents sound alike?
Here’s the main question, what if Donald and Douglas get a main role in a Season 5 episode. Do you think Alec Baldwin would attempt a Scottish Accent for them just like what he did to Duncan in “Duncan Gets Spooked” but instead the accent is more of a Liverpudlian accent or no ? Tbh I think so. It would kinda sound similar to how Duncan sounded in Duncan Gets Spooked.
@ryanward652 Obviously, because Alec didn't even bother to try, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
Obviously, because Alec didn't even bother to try, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
At least he did better than Alec Baldwin, who couldn't even try to give Donald and Douglas their normal Scottish accents, probably because he was going through a nasty divorce that caused him to be too depressed to do so, so if only the production crew let Michael B. renarrate the Twin Trouble episode.
My favorite voices for Donald and Douglas: Willie Rushton George Carlin Michael Angelis Ted Robbins Rob Rackstraw Joe Mills Honorable mentions: Ringo Starr (Great, but a little too high in tone) Michael Brandon (Good, but not as good as Angelis) Voices I don't like: Alec Baldwin (He wasn't even trying! I just feel sad whenever I listen to his voice in Season 6. His voice in Season 5 was better.)
I Like Donald And Douglas’s Voices By Ringo Starr, George Carlin, Michael Angelis, Michael Brandon, Rob Rackstraw And Joe Mills. They All Sound Scottish And They All Fit Perfect For Both Donald And Douglas.
George Carlin is obviously the best voice for them. 1. George Carlin 2. Michael Angelis 3. Michael Brandon 4. Ringo Starr 5. Rob Rackstraw + Joe Mills 6. Ted Robbins 7. Willie Rushton 8. Alec Baldwin
Yes, and I don't blame you guys for not talking about Alec Baldwin since he didn't even try to give Donald & Douglas their Scottish accents, but I think the reason why he didn't do that is because he was going through a nasty divorce that caused him to be too depressed to do so.
Talk to George Carlin and Alec Baldwin reason Alec because I grew up with him my first exposure to Thomas was James and the red balloon DVD which had twin trouble with Chad, Alec Baldwin nration
My favorite choice for Donald and Douglas voices are definitely George Carlin and Willie Rushton. They did such a fabulous job with their Scottish accents. For least favorite, it’s definitely Alec Baldwin. As much as I love his narrations, his voices for the twins are crap and disappointing. (That’s the only part I didn’t like about Baldwin’s narration).
Willie Rushton and George Carlin are good at voicing Donald and Douglas as you say they are, but at least Michael Angelis did the best after them! Now, as for Alec Baldwin, you're right about the fact that he did do a terrible job at voicing the twins, but I think the reason for that is because he was going through a nasty divorce that caused him to be too depressed to do so.
Obviously, because Alec didn't even bother to try, but I think he was probably too depressed to do so because of the nasty divorce that he was going through.
