The Star Wars universe is a dangerous place and over time multiple of its species have sadly gone extinct. Today I cover every extinct Star Wars species. I hope you enjoy! #starwars
Great video, as always. Do you remember the species Padme tells Anakin about, when they're at her family's home in the deleted scene, looking at the old photograph? She says their planet was destroyed; do you think THEY all went extinct?
Thank you! That’s a very good call out. I think you’re right to suggest they likely went extinct. The species were mentioned in the book Queen’s shadow as well as the deleted scene and both times it’s said that the species were unable to adapt away from their planet (Shadda-Bi-Boran). I should definitely watch through the deleted scenes again.
From what i recall, the Rakkata did not go extinct. They contracted a virus that took away their ability to use the force, namely the dark side, and they shrank back to Rakkata Prime to live out their lives, dumbed down to how they were before they were contacted and taught about advanced tech.
Sorry, I should’ve been clearer in the video. I didn’t mean that the zeffo fully replaced the rakatans as they are definitely both canon, but more that they fulfill a very similar (if not the same) role within the universe.
@@VaultHolocronthey are canon, but also not really. They might’ve been mentioned, but no image of them exists. Kind of like Revan himself. For all we know they might look completely different. Nor do we know if the Star Forge is canon or if the Rakatans built the first hyperdrives or if hyperdrives were modeled after the Purgils. the Rakatans built the first hyperdrives modeled after the Purgils and the greater galaxy reversed engineered Rakatan technology and, with the understanding of the inner workings of the Purgils, built the first hyperdrives that didn’t need a connection to the Force to operate. In legends it is the Rakatans who built the hyperdrives and the rest of the galaxy reversed engineered and copied them, whereas in canon it is the Purgils who inspired the first hyperdrives.
Although not a sentient species, I’d say that the Tarentatek are extinct. One is mentioned and even depicted in the last episode of season 6 of the Clone Wars, but it doesn’t seem that they are alive anymore. The Tarentatek are a highly aggressive beast-like species that only preyed upon force sensitives and Jedi. They have been known to go into hibernation for long periods of time and reawaken when the dark side is at its most powerful across the galaxy. In legends there was once a “great hunt” of them where the Jedi attempted to hunt them to extinction and rid them from the galaxy. The few that survived lived on worlds extremely strong in the dark side and were out of reach for the Jedi. In KOTOR there is one on Kashyyyk, three on Korriban, and I believe two on Lehon.
From what I gathered, the Massassi are the sub-species to pure-blood Siths ( think of them as the savage brutes vs the intellectual pure bloods ). They both originated from Korriban but the Massassi relocated to Yavin 4 with Naga Sadow. Thank You SWTOR for teaching me this XD
geonosians are for sure extinct just because a single queen survives doesnt mean its enough to repopulate a entire speices especially in a galaxy that wants to see them extinct (cant think of a single person in the star wars galaxy besides a lone surviving jedi who would want the geonosians to not go extinct)
That’s true but according to the book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Head-to-Head, in the new republic era there were persistent rumours that a few eggs survived which would mean the species could have survived.
The Kaminoans may also be functionally extinct. Assuming the Empire destroyed all structures on Kamino, that would leave the only survivors of the species as Halle Burtoni, Lama Su, and perhaps a handful of scientists. The Kaminoans would likely despair knowing that the genetic bottleneck would likely be to great to overcome.
Having played countless hours of Star Wars KOTOR i remember the rakatans as they are part of the last act of the game, having regressed to more or less savages that tame rancors and hunt other species to eat them
Shouldn't be difficult to bring them Back with Cloning Tech. As for the Rakata they aren't Extinct just gone back to the Stone Age and some of them even built a Second Star Forge tho not sure what happened to it.
what about the Sith Species? All of the sith species were force sensitive and used the dark side of the force. But after thousands of years as humans became sith, their species slowly died off in the many sith wars with the jedi and sith infighting.
Funny film i saw with George is tgat he created Geonosians just to have them build 2nd death star to "let people know that slaves didnt created it but just some termites" to disney just: nah they were already ded

@@varvariiin I don’t see your point, because the rumors were never revealed to be true. So you’re clearly just trying to start an argument for attention.
That can't be cause the Rakata were natural dark side oriented in nature they never studied the light side even the weapons used the Darkside with the force sabers. The Zeffo we original light side, they would be a bad replacement in my opinion. Not too mention in legend the Infinite Empire were responsible for creating multiple humanoid alien races such as the Twi'lek and Zabrak making it possible for them to mate with actual humans. Best example of this would be Jacen.
From a constructive standpoint I would recommend staying away from the “Burger King foot lettuce” voice pattern and also add a subtle background instrumental.
I like the straight to the point information but I feel like adding a bit of your personality will make it better, we all like Star Wars so nerd out bro
There's also the Sith Purebloods, who were wiped out through systemic hybridization with other species in the Sith Empire. The Massassi were actually just one of the castes of the Sith Purebloods, being their warrior caste.
@joshsmith4443 Well, I was thinking more ABBY. They cannot reproduce and since their cloning tech is gone I am unsure if any survived into the New Republic era. But if they have a longer lifespan than humans it's possible.
They weren't fully wiped out like the Geonosians. They have a better chance of rebuilding their species. The last “Known” Geonosian couldn't produce because her womb was destroyed. So to keep her “people” alive, she placed herself in a droid factory to produce droid “Geonosians” There could possibly be other Geonosians who escaped death and went into hiding, but it's unknown.
I think the infinite Empire stuff is largely the same in Cannon, it doesn’t contradict anything existing anyway. Its also hinted at, especially considering Rakata Prime probably wouldn’t even be marked on the New Cannon map if it wasn’t important. It’s just Disney hasn’t gotten around to telling stories about the Rakata yet.
4:26 This is something I think cannon should tackle more directly. Something I can’t help but critique Star Wars for is that the empire seems to have become less imposing as villains. They’re portrayal seems more slap stick and while yes making fun of your villains is good for a comedic element, I’d like a story where we see why it was important for the rebellion to succeed and why the new republic letting the first order come back was such a betrayal to the peoples of the Galaxy. It’d definitely be a tragic story to tell but I think the empire being control freaks and all has been hammered home enough. It maybe a good idea for the empire to be shown to committing crimes akin to the inspiration for the empire. I suppose I just want a story with a more darker feeling context. Maybe making a film or tv show where a group of rebels who aren’t quite the rebellion alliance are trying to save the B’ankora would be a good premise(only for them to fail utterly).
You forgot about the Miraluka. Force sensitive humans who were blind and saw through the force. Their planet and their species was consumed by Nihilus. In light side playthroughs of Kotor you can deliver dna samples to the Rakata or help them gain access to their older technology. They spoke of reintegrating into normal society. The entire planet was conquered by dark side Rakata and you kill the leader of that faction. They might have just disbanded into tribes again and killed each other off entirely.
Well, it's off topic, but still true I damn laughed when he described the danger in the beginning and destruction of planets And extinct species? Look what great crusade made with the universe
Yeah, I feel like it’d add so much weight to their extinctions if we really knew the species. I’m hoping some of them show up in projects set in the past. It’d really be a great way of taking advantage of an older time period.
@@someusernamehereI like the man. He is definetely directing the besy Star Wars project that came out recently. The problem with him, though, is that all of his TV Shows contradict pre-established canon material contained in novels, mainly.
The massasi were the sith they were a class of sith they were the warrior class but after the great hyperspace war naga sadow and his massasi crew went onto hiding on yavin. The massasi was one of the sith species that originated on korriban the sith home world.
Zeffonians might not be extinct, there’s evidence that they succeeded in traveling outside our main galaxy, as the temples in Peridea depict their reverence to sage Kujet
gladly two species in star wars canon are not extinct, 1 specie named lasat and 2 specie named geonosian as was shown in animate show named star wars rebels 2014-2018.
Zeffo arnt extinct from jedi survivor master cordova mentioned he tracked traces of the zeffo that lead deep into the unknown regions which of course he wasn't able to follow it certainly suggests they fled there
Sadly we haven’t seen a mahran in canon but they are described as having 4 fingered hands, sharp tufted ears, a blue muzzle, a coat of fur, and a stinger which contained deadly venom. Once they used their stinger both they and their victim would die to the venom.
I am very critical of Disney but if they want to spark my interest I would like them to focus upon the Theelin species according to legends they went extinct however in Canon they are not labeled as extinct but simply as a rare species it would be great to see more work done with them especially with characters such as Rystall Sant and Darth Phobos amongst some of the members of that race instead of the woke crap
