In fencing no one is more outstanding than Italy. If not gold, almost always on the podium. The video speak for itself. This year they were not great due to internal problems within their confederation but still managed to win 5 medals. In 2012 women's individual podium was all Italian!
In Italy fencing is a very popular sport so is normal. In Epeè we only have Santarelli but in Foil we have three of the strongest fencer in the world. So happy to be from this country
@@krszam4112 it's not completely true. In statistical data Fencing is not even in the top 25 most played sports...and yet their technique and tradition is marvelous
Not really. It's a sport developed from early modern period schools of de*fence*. Hence, the name fencing. To your credit, they did evolve from medieval arming sword play, but medieval swordsmanship was more for battle and less of a civilian affair.
La scuola veneziana di fioretto si è parecchio evoluta negli anni, grazie a campioni come Antonella Ragno, Fabio Dal Zotto, Mauro Numa e Dorina Vaccaroni.
@I am from California India is best in Kabbadi and Cricket which sadly aren't part of olympics.. it's not only about medals..surely we are improving in other sports too...
@I am from California what nobody care about cricket and kabbadi.??? Lol ....if usa cannot play cricket or Kabbadi.. doesn't mean nobody cares 😂😂 ..one thing is surely true that indians have overrated cricket and dont consider other sports as carrier option... But things are changing... India has performed much better and bagged more medals than any other olympics already this year.
@I am from California those maybe less popular than football ...but those have their own fanbase.and for correction of your knowledge, cricket is 4th most popular sport.. and I'm proud that India is one of the leading team in that...also India is improving in other sports as well...i think you can see that .. don't you..??
@I am from California I don't believe in stereotypes but sorry to say... You seem like a typical American who love to bully and belittle others.. Get well ..and Get a heart...
Bhavani devi is India's 1st Olympian fencer .she won a match also in fencing .she won India's 1 st fencing match . We are proud of her But she lost in 2 nd round .
I think it would've been helpful for viewers unfamiliar with fencing to explain that which light turns on to register a hit was reversed at one point. As you see in the earlier videos, the light on the touched fencer's side lights up, but it was later changed to light up the side of the fencer who scored (which is somewhat more intuitive imo)
