ABSOLUTELY SAME. i think it was so chilling because we are so used to her flirty version of it, how jokey it is. so when it's actually genuinely menacing it's horrifying because that's how you know there's something not quite right abt it. Ever noticed how people are so scared of something not quite human rather than your stereotypical scary monster? That's what that line plays on. It takes her typical line that's so full of emotion, whether it be flirty, jokey, loving, or even just sad- and make it something not quite human.

This is actually an example of a trope I absolutely love. Use the same line many times over and have it be almost like a catchphrase but as the story progresses, different deliveries and contexts give the line completely different meanings that reflect the character's development. In this case, every time Catra says the line it tells us just about everything we need to know about her feelings towards Adora in that particular moment. It's a beautiful way to communicate Catra's development in a very subtle way that everyone can still understand. It's why when Adora saves Catra in season 5 there's no doubt of how appreciative Catra is in that moment even if she still has a lot of emotional baggage to sort through. It's why we can tell that when glitching, she seems like she's completely lost her mind. It's also why the "Hello Adora" from the reveal that she's been chipped is so terrifying. Because it deviates from that pattern we've come to expect while still calling upon memories of that pattern, making it feel unnatural. Anyway rant over. I just love talking about how well written Catra is and that's down to not just the major decisions and events in her life but also her tiniest line deliveries and mannerisms
