This is what happens when the school finds out about the epidemic. MY SOCIALS: INSTAGRAM - www.instagram.... TikTok: / liam_dowling VIDEOGRAPHER/EDITER IG: www.instagram....
This is so relatable and I go to a catholic school I swear but seriously as a yr 11 its sad seeing all the younger year levels getting hooked onto it. Its only getting worse. Great vid though
@@captainjimmy2306 what i am trying to say was when i was in yr 7 we were all against smoking and would confront them behind the chapel but times have changed.
I dont even vape but this is so accurate. At my school the Deputy went and made a speech about vaping and how it will screw with you in the future. Best part is that they were so dumb and sent emails around school saying when the drug dogs were coming so it gave the kids that were vaping time to remove stuff from their lockers and bring new bags to school XD
At my school we just get straight up suspended. it’s kinda funny because no one ever learns and every girl who vapes just sees the suspension as a holiday anyway.
I always found it pointless when they suspended kids, especially for something like vaping. The kids who are getting suspended don't care if they miss out on school, and only see it as a little holiday. I know I enjoyed getting suspended
My vaping/drug assembly was WAAYYY cooler and more realistic So pretty much a really lax cop came to the school. Talking like a normal human, and he really made the presentation more about “Don’t get ADDICTED to alcohol and drugs, and don’t get caught doing it” and he also just talked about what happens if you get caught, it was mainly about ‘wait until you are 21’ and he only made us promise him ONE thing, “DO NOT try to drink hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol to try to get drunk”. And then he also started talking about how this way of talking to us (opposed to using ‘hip words’ or attempting to scare kids out of vaping, or outright telling them to never get close to drugs at all) is just better way of preventing addiction. Then for the rest of the assembly period (we had 25 minutes left out of a 47 minute lecture) we talked about his taser and other police gear.
Our drug one made sense. They admitted that kids do it cos it's fun but it's not worth the long term affects. Much more effective than whining about peer pressure.
@@lizanna6390 for real the peer pressure argument doesn't even work. I did drugs when i felt like it not when it was offered. so peer pressure never affected me. It was just the same useless D.A.R.E. drivel that never works.
but fr though, PROTECT YOUR LUNGS, DON'T VAPE. completely related, pulmonologist (lung doctor) is going to be a huge career in the next 10-15 years so if you're not sure what do to when you grow up . . .
Also most of the really bad medical effects come from YEARS of vape smoking, or the vapes using illegal 2nd rate chemicals, then you may not need a lung doctor, you might need a mortician.
With our school and vapes they threatened to take you to the school police officer and some people were taking hits during the assembly into there blazers to hid the smoke and it was kinda funny
this is super interesting. I gratuated in 2016, and our talks consisted of "don't send nudes or have sex because jesus says no". I'd approximate less than 2% of our cohort used nicotine. On the otherhand, 90% of us drunk booze. In saying this, I am sitting here watching this video, sucking on a vape. memes innit.
@@neon-original The thing is people make it out to be completely unhealthy as cigarettes. The reality is the nicotine can be completely taken away from the E-Liquid and no form of "Drug" is related to it. 🤦♂️
I would like to pay my respects to the elders both past, present and emerging, for they hold the wisdom of their culture, and I acknowledge that they are the owners of the land and the waters around us. Please stand Quietly for the National Anthem
Oh my god, this is such an accurate representation of an assembly back in middle school. Especially when the teachers come over to you while you're sitting down and tell you to be quiet when you're talking.
As someone who's vaped for the past 8 years: Denouncing something as bad versus explaining why something is bad, are two totally different things that need to be distinguished. If you are a young person who vapes, there are many reasons why you shouldn't yet until later in life until you reach your 20's. This is what you need to know: - Your lungs are still developing. You don't want them to be weaker when they're fully formed because you vaped or smoked regularly while they're still forming. This process happens pretty much up until your late teenage years. - A jewel is vastly different than a vaping device (mod). The jewel is created by Big Tobacco, which they put all kinds of chemicals into the product itself to be it more addictive than an actual vape where you buy your own juice, in an effort to eventually get you to crave more nicotine so that you switch over to their cigarettes. - The juice that you buy is comparative to the leaves in a cigarette, you don't want to just smoke/vape anything because you get a buzz, you want to make sure the ingredients on the bottle of e-liquid are just what you need, USP grade (meaning it is food-grade safe to consume) and that it's a regulated brand (all juices sold from shops have been regulated and approved) When vaping was threatened to be abolished several years ago, before the FDA began regulating the juices, the FDA was scouring for a reason to try to justify banning vapes. If they didn't find anything substantial during that time (AND considering Big Tobacco also decided to jump on the bandwagon and start manufacturing their own), it's safe to say it's a better alternative to cigarettes, with its own downsides of course.
my school in the uk recently did a vape assembly, some 'lung specalist' came in and said it kills you over time lmao. She was saying its just as bad as smoking i brought up that the nhs sold vapes on their own website (nhs is the healthcrae in the uk) and everyone started laughing. somebody then pulled the fire alarm so we got out of it :)
I must've graduated just before vaping became a big thing. It was never a problem worth bringing up...I don't even remember seeing it at all while I was a minor...but now as an adult I see most of my friends or randos at the pub vaping. When did vapes become big in Australia?
this is relatable. I was sick when they gave the assembly but I know what they said as it was filmed. I am in year 8 and 4 kids where found vaping in the open and when they where found they tried to deny it with the vape in there hands. they where suspended for 2 weeks and the school had an assembly a few weeks later.
My school is so good the teachers aren't worried about our students vaping. Instead, they're worried about who set off the fire crackers today at school. Edit: the culprits haven’t ever been caught
im going into my junior year now. i remember back in 6th grade if you got caught you were getting a minimum of 2 weeks suspension out of school, and most likely had to go to court. Now if you only get caught with nicotine its just 2 days of in school suspension, they dont even call your parents.
As a 23yo, i am curious. do highschoolers just walk into the tobacconists/convenience shops that sell these and get served? or do you guys have some whackass black market for vapes?
so i buy from a mate who has an 18 year old buy from him and i pay about $2.5-5 more then it costs in store but you can also just stand outside and ask people and people buy it for you(bit more risky tho i lost $60 doing this)
I personally don't vape, but it's a black market at my school. There's usually one main dealer who sells them, as well as a few others who only sell one or two, just for a quick buck. These people are also separate from the pot dealers.
When it was our no-vaping-assembly, the first word our principal said was ‘lung disease’, the confusion was quickly followed with brain-numbing boredom.
Half the kids in my grade 10 vape and many in the lower grades as well. Its getting annoying because anytime I try to use the bathroom it smells like chemicals and there’s always a group of them in the corner that look at me. I make sure to just ignore them and go on with my day
In Australian public schools there is more vape. In Australian private schools we have more watering cans that we leave outside over night to fill up with rain water. Then chug them.
This is actually completely different to the one i went to this year our lady tried sacring us. the vaping assembly we had was from some social worker who worked with 2 12 year old kids that got addicted to weed and nicoteen through vapes. She claimed that when she was 3 she used to go to her dads backyard and pick up all the cigarettes and relight them because when she was a kid she didn't know the dangers and neither did anyone else. Then she started talking and how her kid got some descease as a baby because of it and that now she has popcorn lungs and then proceed to tell us how doja cat vapes and that she will loose her vocal chords because of it.
I finished high school ages ago when vapes still looked like cigarettes and weren't available anywhere, but do schools now talk about gateway drugs? Even back then our school would always bring up that the gateway effect is inaccurate and it's just trauma that leads to drug addiction.
I've made a vow to never do drugs or alcohol, and it's sad to see so many people nowdays addicted to nicotine. Really sad. Granted I have got a desire to not exist, so that might be my perspective that sees it as sad.
@@xXMangoXx_ bein honest that ain't an achievement, like did you think saying that would give you a reward? In my eyes it's disgusting. Unhealthy maybe.
@@-aid4084 nah like you do you just y'know, drugs are bad but they aint horrible a combination of nicotine and weed at 14 may have destroyed some of my brain cells but it also helped save my life. Also, calm tf down lol its just some chemicals
Last year at the althetics carnival (I don’t do PE and the carnival) someone flushed a vape down the toilet it got blocked and the next day at assembly DR Evens talked in the most I’m not mad I’m furious and disappointed voice I’ve ever heard
@@lewismx8815 infinitely less addictive, actually, in a way. Nicotine is psychically addictive, but weed us not. That being said, weed, like anything, can be psychologically addictive. So from a physical standpoint, vales are way worse than weed.
In all seriousness its true, im a year 11 and its crazy. Last years people were vaping but now this year that escalated into people smoking weed then doing meth and other drugs. Please don’t do it guys.
Bro I walked in on like 3 year 7’s vaping in the school toilets and they were like full blown eshays and stuff and I’m a year 8 sad stuff to see really
Back in my day they were chuffing darts it's not healthy but better then the alternative. it's just the kids that would have never taken up smoking chugging on these thats the problem. Eshays were doomed from the womb
Honestly, it’s kind of odd how much vapes took off and graduating in 2020 I barely noticed anyone in our year level doing it. Love the vid dowlo keep it up
the worry moves from 'please don't vape its bad for you' eventually down to 'if you're going to do drugs in school uniform at the park in full view, please stop wearing your fucking school uniform'
@@largeinflatedbox true my school doesn’t even care if we kill each other as long as we’re not in school uniform while doing it I think it’s probably to make them look good when actually they’re the furthest thing from it 😂
at my school the issue is people smoking weed in the bathrooms instead of vaping. pretty much anyone who actually does vape does it outside or off campus but for some reason at least a couple times a week people smoke weed in the bathrooms, usually its underclassmen. (for reference weed is legal in my state for anyone over 18 and most of the people i know who use it are 18 and smart enough to not do it on campus)
Our school's deputy has a mumble issue where he will just mumble so only the front rows can hear him, so our 1 hour long vaping assembly was just listening to hi mumble and a few pictures on the powerpoint of vapes. Whish is quite sad as I can no longer use toilets at school because the smell of the vapes is just overpowering.
@@braindeadgaming808 i don’t vape but I sell them and they sell for high prices in my school and the teachers don’t know because I act like nerd in class
