There was “technically” a sequel to the MODOK show, marvel put out a comic written by Patton Oswald about 616 MODOK and he remembers things from the show, his wife, his kids, etc, things that don’t exist in the comic. And it’s revealed that the whole show (and all the memories associated with it) were implanted by MODOKS father (the founder of AIM) as a kind of psychic virus to make him seek him out. The comic is actually pretty fun, and I enjoy the way it ends.
Letterkenny is super accurate to Ontarian rural life that it's nearly surreal. In fact, it was surreal for me when I first watched it, the archetypes and characters in this show feel like actual people I know in real life. I went to school with kids exactly like those hockey bros.
35:35 A lot of Aussie towns have names like this, especially in the South. We still use a lot of the original names put in place by the indigenous ancestors so they're basically in a whole different language. Also, a 'showbag' is a plastic bag of lollies and chocolate you can buy at fairs. I had no idea other places in the world didn't have those 😭 I have to admit, it's really nice to see my country represented in a cartoon with all the accents and scenery to boot. We don't get alot of those shows :)
That's how I feel about Letterkenny. It's almost surreal to see things and character archetypes from your real life on the screen, especially in a US dominated format.
God, as an American I’m so sick of Americanized shows that always take place in America. It’s so redundant and annoying. Also, I wish we had 'showbags' here now.
@@TheDanishGuyReviews Showbags always have themes (typically brands) which can vary from Cadbury to TV shows like Spongebob. The price goes up because they generally will have branded merchandise and even toys mixed in. Like I had this giant blow up hammer I got in a Spongebob showbag that lasted me several years, so I would definitely say showbags are overpriced but can be worth the money
@@ignorant1126 Okay, having toys as well helps the price be more reasonable. And I know just as well as anyone that branding hikes a price up. (Seriously, Peppa Pig, I just need a Christmas present for my little cousin. Why is one 4 inch figure $15?!)
It is one of those shows that it feels like they are doing a proper mix of classic Simpsons mafia in similar style humor to classic family guy before they over used the cutaway gags plus the art style reminds me of flash animations but smoother animation quality then flash
I started watching Crossing Swords only because I literaly had no better options and my god, it's such a good show. It's like a fantasy epic if every character was played by a unhinged D&D player.
Good to see a positive review of Koala Man. It might not hit as hard as Smiling Friends, but as you said it slowly grows on you. Even though I'm not Aussie, I could get some of the jokes/customs in the series.
This video reminded me that my brother and I were absolutely OBSESSED with the Awesomes when it first came out. We really should rewatch it now. Great video!
I'm so glad you mentioned Letterkenny! My family LOVES that show and watch it all the time and have even converted our friends into watching it too because we never see anyone else talking about it. It's good to know it's funny for an outsider, too! My family has been rural for generations, so the show is particularly relatable to us. Northeast US redneck culture ain't too different from Ontario's apparently lol
I was quite into the Awsomes when it was airing, it’s such an underrated show!! I can’t believe they never got around to revealing Prock’s secret power to the rest of the team. Seems like a something that could perfectly be worked into a movie plot if they ever decided to do one.
Personally, I enjoy Fugget About It. The writing is actually really funny. The rest of these shows I haven't seen, except for Koala Man. I love that show.
One thing I definitely have to give hit monkey huge points for is utilizing a character like lady bullseye. It's been so cool seeing shows like that and moon girl and devil dinosaur actually using lesser known marvel villains they have in their catalogue
@@Channeleven2345789 I don’t think it’d be riding off of smiling friends. It’d just be nice to let people know about it. 'Hey, you like this show? Here’s another show by the same guy. Give it a watch, if you have the time.'
I'm so happy you said you remember nothing from Mother Up!, because that's exactly what I was about to say. I remember much more from Neighbors From Hell, which I watched at the same time.
I still find it funny that people think something adult is:-"profane,violent,gory,depressive,washed out and colorless, ect", while"kid stuff"experimental, rewarding and rewatchable!
I feel like modok tried too hard to be like Harley Quinn and never really broke away from that to become it's own thing, like the early parks and rec seasons compared to the office
Grown to love fugget about it. Not an amazing show, but it's been good to me as a background noise show, and some moments have been very funny. It's like Brickleberry IF it was made by people who are competent and good at what their doing
@@DamanLane1017 because hey, it's a background noise show, but with regards to that niche of shows, it's one of the best. One that has had quite a bit of funny moments and I've grown to like some of the characters quite a bit. I think love might be a bit exaggerated but you get what I mean
I really enjoyed Solar Opposites even with it’s obvious flaws. I like Koala Man okay. It was good seeing a main character actually responsible and nice. Fugget About It is 5/10 if you like gangster stuff. It’s fine as background noise.
My little sister was watching a show called we lost our human and when I heard modok's sons voice I knew i heard it somewhere and I thought for a moment and realized it was the cat, the cat has the same voice.
I wish I could say Letterkenny wasn't quite accurate to some of us Canadians XD Glad you came by it and enjoyed it! I've been told I wasn't allowed to have a rave at the local hall hahaha
my mom loves adult cartoons and her standards arent very high, i knew of most of these right off the bat 😂 fuhgeddaboutit honestly isn't bad, decently unique art style and premise. i think it's a decently fun show
I remember watching a show back in high school called "Animals." I honestly enjoyed its humor and it got a few laughs out of me which is extremely hard to do
Finally someone who knows what a family guy rip off is and isn't. Fugget about it is far too different from family guy. It shares similarities but even then there's nothing shocking about an animated family
I'd love to see a Hit-Monkey review video on its own, just found your channel from this video. Great content, excited to watch the rest of your channel
I love fugget about it 😂 I remember first watching it after work, getting super high and downing a whole box of Parmesan bites while laughing at the dumb show
Are you Canadian, because you mentioned some Canadian shows like they were classics, and I’m from the US so I’ve never heard of these. Unless you were being sarcastic, or I somehow missed out on something.
I really appreciate the little popsicle stick guy. IHE did the little animated cartoon character doing poses while he talks about shit a decade ago, and I don’t remember seeing anyone do it before him maybe they did. But that was legit a decade ago, the people who use the same boring nothing style to put their boring samey “character” in the videos normally sucks. They tell themselves they’re making the content more artistic and worthwhile but they’re just stealing, it’s basically turned into a platform and nobody gives IHE credit. This guy actually saw that everyone was doing the same thing and looked for a way to do it different, and while I still think there’s wayyy too many channels at this point doing these types of videos, this is one of the better orns
Ooh and extra points for saying to like and sub AFTER watching the video! That’s really been one of my biggest pet peeves forever on this website, when I see a video by a creator I’ve never seen before like you, and then unlike you they start it with “don’t forget to like and subscribe!” Then I ALWAYS FORGET, bc you said it 2 seconds into the video and I didn’t think about it at the end. Nobody is gonna sub 3 seconds into the video, you HAVENT SHOWN US ANYTHING. So thank you for not being one of those people, it’s another example of you not doing what alot of them do, which is blindly copying each others video outlines
Im Honestly only leaving a Like Because i Just Finished The Part Where He Genuinely Gave "Fugget about it" a Review and Reached out to alot of Fans Of the Show instead of skipping it and saying Its a Rip off or copy of other shows
Glad Letterkenny got it's claws in another one. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I've never seen a show where every episode is such quality and somehow it keeps on getting better and better. Boggles the mind tbh. Superb
the fugget about it is stuck in my head from how often i heard it it would air on tv in the middle of the night and since i had insomnia and there was nothing else to watch i ended up watching that show way more then i would of liked to
I HAVE THE EXACT SAME STORY FOR FUGGET ABOUT IT, EARLIER TODAY I WAS WATCHING IT AS WELL. I'm a little ashammed to say I watched the video just because the thumbnail had jimmy on it.
I loved solar opposites so much it became a massive hyper-fixation of mine, and I also love that the avowed leaned into the romantic aspect of terry and korvo. It’s a rare thing to see in adult animation where main characters are gay and also essential to the storyline. (And terrys bi so that’s cool :3)
The first show you were playing concept of love the themse song of jet set radio future is that the theme song for the show or just what you put in the video?
Animation didnt got the stigma of being for kids due to solely Disney, it can all mostly be blamed to the tv cartoons between the late 60s and early 80s, like those from Hannah Barbera, which severely toned down the violence and then in the 80s you had the whole "cartoons to sell toys" gimmick.
While watching your Letter Kenny review I realized that you think people from rural areas are stupid. I spent my first 40 years in Baltimore, then I moved out of state and into the country. I've found that the intelligence level of those in rural areas generally surpasses that of their urban counterparts. If you need some statistics to bolster my argument, look at graduation rates in rural VS. urban areas.
I don't think people from rural areas are stupid, I said it's cool that they showed the characters in LetterKenny being so smart instead of the stereotype of rural equals dumb
@@HatsOffMedias "The fact that these are supposed to be hicks, but nearly every person is super well spoken, educated and witty but they just like the simple life. These people could be running the government but they choose life on the farm because it's what they like.". You may have meant to say that you appreciated them not playing into the stereotypical dumb redneck. However, what I heard was that you found the show enjoyable because they made the hicks intelligent; therefore implying that you don't naturally think of hicks as intelligent. I accept your explanation, but I think your words can easily be interpreted to hold the opposite meaning. Thanks for the reply😀
its funny how many Canadian animated shows were just, taken by hulu, slapped with a "hulu original" sticker and called it a day, but the biggest F U is the fact canadians cant use hulu
I find it pretty nice too see someone review shows from a watchers eyes, than a critic with high standards. It gives a nice point of view of just someone channel surfing for a good show to watch that day.
I hope they do bring in more friends for Hit Monkey, whether it be new characters or pre-established Marvel characters. I’ve really enjoyed the series and do think it’s the best Hulu original animated series.
