The Space Shuttle Discovery & Hubble Telescope set is probably my favorite Lego set of all time. I want to encourage everyone to get one before it retires!
As a guitarist and Lego fan, you would think that the Stratocaster is tailor made for me. Fender is probably my favorite music company and I know a lot of their history. That being said, I think I know the shapes and contours of the Strat a bit too well, and the set just looks odd to me. Red and black are also two of the more basic colors for a guitar. The main reason I want the set is the Princeton amp, I love that the designer included the internal components and speaker.
My favorites were: 1: Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre 2: Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - Flight of the Bumblebee 3: Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King
If you have trouble with your camera overheating, there are camera fans you can stick on the back and they are genuinely pretty effective. I got one from ulanzi a while back and haven't had overheating issues since
The UCS AT-AT is a real bummer. Can’t really justify paying $800 for a set right now, but definitely would’ve in the future. Might have to pick up the Treehouse though.
The Botanical Garden was my wife's first experience with LEGO. She's built quite a few Disney sets since then including the large Disney Castle and begun to get serious about CMFs. She still really doesn't like mini dolls and if available switches them out with minifigures ;-) - The rumor is that there will be an ICONS Botanical Garden out this November. My only "have to get before it's retired" set is the Batman Tumbler - I need that for the collection - I'd love the shadowbox too but not quite sure how I'd display it. My son has a few Star Wars sets to get a hold of before year's end but most of the UCS ones he already has if not put together.
Thanks for making this long list. I expected the Viking Village to go out, but apparently it will still be made. So far, the main loss will be the Creator Castle and perhaps the Treehouse. Those explorer sets are quite fun, but I got all the ones that I want for a reasonable price already. Most of them are just new this year, so I don't quite understand why they're already going to retire. The Indiana Jones sets look quite good, but still not something I would think would have massive appeal. Great looking sets that nobody seems to want as the theme is probably very impopular.
Stratocaster is the set that got hubby and I into Lego in May. He has a big boy version in red and white and a fender amplifier. Perfect introduction to Lego.
Will this madness stop? I know they want to address as many markets as possible but it's impossible to keep up with that lineup. Who can afford to buy dozens of sets each year, especially if the adult orientated ones are hundreds of Euro each... From this list I will try to catch A frame cabin, I wish I could get few more, like the. Cantina but it's been a harsh year (financially). I miss the old days when they could present all their sets in a catalogue, with cool pictures, comics, dioramas...
Man, I bet the DND Minifigures are going to be scalp in the near future! Like a few weeks after they were put out in work (worked in retail), when I went to buy the Dragonborn paladin with the scanner app, some jerk literally bought ALL of them beforehand! Ended up getting the bird archer cos I notice that one was the next rarest and had to go to the nearby toystore to get the Dragonborn Paladin!
As a lego marvel fan I love the sanctum sanctorum and I'm glad that I own it and I'm glad that I didn't wait until it retired to buy the sanctum sanctorum
I'll definitely need to get Ninjago Gardens and somehow get my hands on the other two already retired Ninjago City sets (plus a dragon and the ship probably). Hoping it will get a small discount until end of the year!
It is a cool looking set, as is the Treehouse. I was tempted to buy it several times, I would rather have it on the shelves for another year to think about it ;)
16:48 The technic sets I would be pointing out here are the firefighter aircraft and the Airbus. Two incredible sets on their own IMHO but also two sets that are great for MOCs and alternative builds. The Airbus in particular is a really significant one as it’s currently the only set to include that particular motor and battery box combination which if you want to recreate the infamously cancelled V22 Osprey set which uses the same motor and battery box combo (along with a lot of other parts from the Airbus which can be used for the V22), buying an Airbus set is gonna be essential to do that! 🤷
Some great sets going away. While I am not normally a Friends set collector, I had to get the Botanical Garden. I actually got 2 sets of it because I saw a rebrickable instruction for making a modular version using 2 sets. Absolutely looks amazing and shocked they are not keeping it around longer since I think it still sells well. In the Friends section because you had to read them so fast when you said "Cow Shed," I thought you said another word and did a double take. LOL So hoping there will be more castle themes in the future. Sad to see the Bat cave Shadowbox go so soon. I wanted to get it, but alas likely won't before it retires. Lastly, I want to applaud you for the suggestion to get a retired set and donate it. At first I thought you were going to go with the half joke of buying one of the sets and giving it to you, but absolutely loved that you want people to give a set to kids to enjoy. Well done, sir. Very classy.
I did the same. Two copies, especially due to the Rebrickable alternative instructions, like yourself. Be aware the new modular style Botanical Garden is due for release on 1st November '24 as I understand from some LEGO RU-vidrs
Entry level strats are like 200-300$, if anyone is looking into actually playing guitar. You can even get real cheap ones for 100$ but id still at about 200$+
I wanted to use your affiliate link but I couldn’t change the country of delivery and since I don’t live in the UK I couldn’t enter my address despite my address already being saved on my account
They really need to release fewer sets and retire sets less often. I am not even considering Starwars ... but that mos eisley's cantina is really appealing (for the lizard and the great minifigs I could use for so many fantasy related things) Ideas - luckily I have a treehouse (might need to get a second one) - and I really wanted 3 Aframe Cabins ... hoped I would have another year or 2 to get these. Will have to get one "fast". Tales of the space age is neat too, but I should have one around the house. Marvel - I so wish I could allow for the Sanctum Sanctorum (Liked the movie, and the building is so useful outside of Marvel
Are you sure the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest: Magical Creatures set is retiring? Seems like it only recently came out, and Lego's website doesn't say it's retiring soon. Would be very surprised to see it actually retire in December.
It is definitely listed as "Retiring soon" in the UK, on the LEGO website. You can get this set for £19 from Asda George online if that's an option for you
This seems like the only fun set to me out of all the HP stuff that is retiring. Having an actual Griffon is nice, if that is what that creature is supposed to represent. (I don't know anything about Harry Potter)
Well done, and thank you! Always extremely useful info. If you haven't got the Ninjago Temple of Dragon Energy Cores, do yourself a favour. Brilliant set.
The Family Reunion Celebration hurts the most, as I've wanted that one all year, I just simply do not have the room for it. I've already asked for the Dreamzzz Nightmare Shark Ship for Christmas, and I hope I get it. I'm going to have to grab another 3in1 Medieval Castle before it retires.
35:52 Throwing shade on businesses that are "for profit", yet in the same video promoting his own affiliate links so youtuber can make a profit??? Hmmmmm...
