In this video we rank the vehicles of Mario Kart Wii using a tier list. I've been playing with so many different vehicles online over the past few months while streaming which is why I came up with this idea.
I played competitive Mario Kart in clans from 2009-2013 and put 1000s of hours into the game over the past decade. I don't think there is any debate to be had on what's an S-Tier vehicle but I'm interested to see what people say who have invested a lot of time into the game on the other vehicle categories.
Tier lists are popular in the Smash community so why not make one for Mario Kart Wii?

Hey guys, I see this video is starting to pick up in viewership and a common question I'm seeing is how I was able to play online in 2018. The community has custom online servers (known as Wiimmfi) and most people play through a mod called CTGP made by MrBean35000vr. This mod auto-updates itself and has lots of great features like custom tracks and new game modes. It also has a security system to prevent hacking online. And Bowser, Luigi, Peach and baby Peach all have increased speed and are available at the start (not like it’s hard to unlock all the characters anyway, at least to me, even Dry Bowser and Mii B, the “hard” characters to unlock aren’t that bad)

"I can spend a whole video talking about the differences of the drift styles." Please do, I never quite got that drift style stuff in Mario Kart Wii. Maybe after hearing that I can finally start getting good at the game.

Ok, so inside drifting bikes don't swing outwards at the start of a drift like outside drifting vehicles. This means you're less likely to hit items going round the corner, you can start the drift later, and you can take the corner further inside. Taking the corner inside is a big benefit because it reduces the total amount of distance you're going without sacrificing your speed- so you turn the corner in less time. Starting the drift later is more specific to bikes - since doing wheelies gives you a higher maximum speed, you want to be doing them as much as possible when you have the time. So, with inside drifting, you can wait a long time before you start drifting around the corner, milking that precious speed boost from the wheelie as much as possible. Additionally, being able to turn on a dime lets you avoid items quicker if one catches you off guard, because you start moving in whichever direction you're drifting in instantly. And finally, drifting around a corner on an outside drifting bike or kart can leave you facing the wall, meaning you need to drift back the other way to reposition yourself, or rely on your handling, which loses you a lot of time.

@@ketchupp2645 Ok so I haven't really played MK8 a lot so I'm not too familiar with it, but I'll try and explain why it's not as good as in MKWii by referring to the other mechanics. Mainly, there's no wheelies, so there's no real reason to try and wait as long as possible before starting your drift, and therefore, not as big of a speed bonus. Additionally, nintendo tried as hard as they could to make inside drifting especially bad because they didn't really want another MKWii where people would only use Bikes in Mario Kart.

@@ketchupp2645 When you drift in MK8, you will start off like a kart, swinging to the outside. After a few milliseconds, you will immediately swing to the inside. IMO it makes those bikes too difficult to use for online play.

When I was little I played this game with my family and my dad always played as King Boo riding in the Piranha Prowler. All he did was drift all over the place and crash into other racers with the power of a goddamn tank. It was honestly pretty great.

Magikruiser is so much fun in stages where you can just go on sand for a shortcut. Even better on Shy Guy Beach when the water doesn’t even slow you down, giving you a huge advantage.

I've beaten many Funky Kong + Flame Runner users as King Boo on Jetsetter with manual drift. You don't have to submit to the meta to be good at the game use what combinations you see fit 😊 (the ghost rider joke made choke on water thanks)

I remember racing with my sister, and she was beating me pretty bad. She was using the dolphin, and I was using the bullet bike. I decided as a joke to use the quacker, and absolutely destroyed her. Started using ONLY quacker/ dry bones and got gold stars in every cup. Never touched any other bike for years, until I started to speedrun rainbow road and realized how much better the flame runner was.

I actually had my kart in the F tier. r.i.p Offroader. I actually had a bad combo with you (but Rosalina's good for handling and as me, not playing this game for over a year, needs that, Offroader + Rosa = good combo. Plus I don't have the other heavy karts or bikes unlocked, but I may swap to the Honeycoupe. But I may stay with Offroader.

Aw. I'm actually a huge fan of outside drifting vehicles, though that might be because it was all I used growing up. Always felt good to cut the wheel early and hug the corners. The Super Blooper was always my favorite- decent speed and what I always thought to be good handling. I'm no speed runner though. Always wondered what other players thought of that vehicle~

I'd honestly put the spear higher than the magicruiser, dolphin dasher, and bit bike. Its kinda hard to compare given the audiences these two categories are, but a good spear user I'd argue has a better chance at success than a good magicruiser user

I'd agree on the magikruiser, but only because there are more "Spear" tracks than "Magikruiser" tracks, if that makes sense. Dolphin dasher is more consistently viable than the spear in my opinion, so I'd leave that as is. And the spear IS above the bit bike. I'll refrain from making a half a-press joke, for your sake. Flame Flyer should've been a bit higher. Kart mains usually play it as a secondary to Wild Wing online. If you have a good grasp on how karts handle, you can do some serious damage, despite its bad drift. It excels on tracks like rBC3 and rMC3 where the turn are tight yet simple, so you can get plenty of orange MTs. Good list overall though.

For a second I thought you said "Flame Runner" I was like "uhhh what it's already literally the highest possible lol" But yeah having grown up with MK64/DD/DS I was always used to using karts so I always naturally just felt more comfortable with them compared to bikes. King Boo actually has 0 drift stat and does only specialize on the worst 2 stats (handling and offroad), I would consider Waluigi to be the middle ground as he's the one with extra drift and acceleration boosts

I have fond memories of using Honeycoupe back when WiiConnect24 was available. I understood that Bikes were considered superior to Karts, but I just loved the look and feel of the Honeycoupe - plus it performed relatively well online to my surprise.

It's so strange that the american and european versions of the game have different names for some of the vehicles. For example, Flame Runner is just called Bowser Bike in EU (since it har a bowser head in the front)

The Classic Dragster is my favorite because it doesn't remind me of a dragster, but rather a vintage sprint car or a vintage F1 car; that and that I used it so much that I understand the handling better.

I personally really like the B Dasher Mk. 2 for a similar reason; it looks like a 1990s era Formula One Car (with Mario in particular it uses a colorscheme that's not too far off from the livery that Mclaren went for during the 1980s)

on 200cc the Classic Dragster is arguably the best kart for online (Mini Beast and Wild Wing might have more potential but controlling them feels impossible at times even with brake drifting so the Classic Dragster is definitely safer and more versatile for 200cc)

Jet Bubble and Honey Coupe are very much a kart and bike equivalent. Jet Bubble more so can compete if things happen a very specific way (from a competitive standpoint) but random worldwides, it's viable in an inexperienced room. It's honestly not bad, but sort of in a bad way if that makes since. Not good enough to really use competitively, but far from bad enough to totally rule out. I like the Jet Bubble though, it's very much a sleeper vehicle.

Same ranks but MY reasons (similar to his) 1. Bowser Bike - good drift, fast, heavy 2. Mach Bike - medium version of Bowser Bike, so reason is the same (except weight) 3. Bullet Bike - small version of Bowser Bike, so reason is the same (except weight) 4. Nitrocycle - fastest med. bike 5. Dolphin Dasher - sorta balanced stats 6. Magikruiser - good for off-roading, nothing else really 7. Torpedo - fastest large bike, but rubbish at everything else 8. Wild Wing - great balanced stats, kart version of mach bike - same reasons 9. Concerto - small version of Wild Wing, kart version of bullet bike - same reasons 10. Bubble Bike - good drift, not really good at other stuff 11. Dragonetti - looks cool, good drift/mini-turbo, not too bad speed, heavy 12. Flame Flyer - kart version of bowser bike - same reasons 13. Quacker - good drift/mini-turbo, decent off-road, nothing else 14. Twinkle star - bike version of dragonetti - same reasons - just weight difference and doesn't look cool 15. Nanobike - rubbish, just rubbish

For someone who’s just getting into MKWii, running off road, into walls, into bananas and fibs, getting hit by reds and blues, and not caring about stand-still mini turbos, the Magikruser is the best training bike. I get the lightweight con, but that’s a con that can somewhat be counteracted. With the Magikruser, *low tricks are your friend.* Overall, 8.5/10, an excellent vehicle.

Dont let them fool you, the standard bike is the best in the game, it's a great all around stat bike that has superior outside drift. Outside drift let's you hit sharper corners and gain the drift boost faster. Plus with outside drift, you can practically go straight, allowing you to already have the boost quicker into the corner

I did rethink my strategy in 2020. Before 2020 I used automatic drifting Karts. Now I use manual drifting inside drifting bikes and it's way more fun.

Outside drift complements karts MUCH better than bikes. Since you start drifts earlier, you are spending more time building an orange mini-turbo. However, bikes only have a blue mini-turbo. Also, when a bike is in a wheelie, it is faster than a bike in a drift. Since you drift earlier with outside drifting, the wheelie would get cancelled earlier too.

2 things I want to say: - Sneakster, Sprinter and Blue Falcon are my favorite MKWii vehicules of all time due to their very high speed stat. Yes, they have poor handling, but it's fun to me to deal with it and see how I can pass tricky parts with them. I could like Jetsetter and Spear for the same reasons, but their handling is too poor to enjoy using them. - Outside drift on bikes is like drifting with a car. This is what I have noticed on my side, and so, considering that, I was able to use some of the best outside drift bikes in the game like the Shooting Star. Have a good day! :D

Kind of makes me sad that Nintendo worked so hard on all of the detail on every kart and bike in the game and the community only uses like 4 out of the 36. I'm super happy of mods like Mkwii Deluxe and Riibalanced made every vehicle viable. I hope CTGP and Mk Midnight buffs the F tier karts
