Only Steve Winwood and 2 other contemparies can play so many instruments,so good IMO; Roy Wood & Jeff Lynne.

Steve Winwood is a genius. This is one amazing song but the unintelligibility of the lyrics has always been troublesome. This is true both on my high end stereo system with vinyl as well as now with an outboard DAC and good headphones. I wonder if this was intentional or just a poor recording.

I've been listening to this album for decades and am just now taking advantage of the internet to learn the lyrics. Beautiful. Same thing with The Grateful Dead. I just looked up "Attics of My Life with lyrics by Robert Hunter. The song sounds like a church hymn which is fitting for the lyrics.

Sherry,The real question is what instrument did Winwood not play?In my estimation,a toure de force, setting the scene for ;Prince,Gabriel,Oldfield and many others.Notwithstanding the voice.Cheers tk

Winwood played everything on this except the drums. It's wonderful how it still retains that loose, jamming feel.

@@af1966 - This is true; it's actually the logo on old UK roadmaps for a "roundabout" or traffic circle.
